    Great video Eddy, very informative. I know some of what you might have said in the video is common sense but it's crazy the amount of people who don't use common sense by dropping litter and failing to keep dogs under control etc.

      Cheers Lee. I think the main message is getting the right kit for the day and being aware of the mountain weather service.
      Our great mountain rescue teams are overburdened with unnecessary call outs

    Great tips. Litter for me is a major bug bear and not just in the countryside. I'll be doing it for the 23rd time tomorrow so I can suggest a few extra tips. No curry etc night before, nowt worse than needing to park it mid walk. Cover your feet in petroleum jelly to prevent blisters and reapply if needed during the walk. If you are struggling with the steep hills don't look up, it can be soul destroying, admire the scenery when you summit instead. Don't rest for too long as you will stiffen up. Enjoy!!!

    I remember doing the National Three Peak Challenge many moons ago when I was 25 with some friends (back in the 90's), we did it over 3 days, something I will never forget. I really miss my hiking days and he Kendal Mint Cake! (from Yorkshire) now living in Australia.

    The only reliable water source is at the Horton in Ribblesdale car park, so, I always start at Ribblehead for an anti-clockwise walk (with a full water bladder).That gets two peaks ticked off relatively easily with a water refill available ready for the trek back. Always a satisfying day out with plenty of options for people to do some, all or none of the walk as they feel able. I had one friend who volunteered to get the train from Horton to Ribblehead to make sure the Station pub was operating to his satisfaction, such a selfless person😅

    You and your partner have many years of this to enjoy if health stays on your sides as my father, his neighbour and some others all in their 70's and 80's still do long hill walks, mainly Northumberland and Cumbria. They have a map and "tick off" each section as they do them each year. I can't remember what the map is called as it's not something I do myself but I'll ask and find out. You'll probably know what it is anyway. Great enjoyable video and tips. Thank you 😃👍

    Christ, anyone would think it was like summiting K2. It such an easy walk that on weekends there are literally hundreds of people walking it, it's almost like a conga line. A lot of the path is so well made and easy to follow, it might as well be tarmac. It's basically so congested and sanitised, it's merely a step up from walking in your local park. Did it last month with the kids and we didn't need £1000 worth of gear to do it.

    • @Eddy-Hope

      Not a helpful, or well thought out comment Simon. It doesn’t reflect well on you, or as an accurate description on the content of my video

      24 miles and the heights to climb is not to be taken lightly.

    • @andrewpotter1217
      @andrewpotter1217 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree totally with Eddy - a very ill thought out comment. Many people assume because it's Britain you are not likely to meet any adverse conditions. Not true from my experiences, we are out in the hills in the countryside facing in some cases maximum exposure. It is essential to dress accordingly and have the correct kit especially if you should wind up in an emergency situation. There are far too many people who take all this way too lightly - for eg I saw a guy descending Scafell Pike in flip flops ! Total idiocy and a reminder of why we have Mountain Rescue to dig these morons out of situations that could be avoided if they used research and common sense ! A very very poor arrogant and ill educated comment - very disappointing. ...

    1. Wait for a sunny day. Climb Pen Y Gent, take your time, enjoy the views, spend some time at the top, have a steady ramble back down and maybe go for a nice dinner and a pint before going home
    2. Repeat with Ingleborough and ( if you must, it’s really boring) Whernside.
