My winch will drain my battery once it like starts pulling tomuch weight. I wired it up as according to the directions, it’s a Harbor freight Badlands winch
hello, I have this question. I have my winch bolted to a flat bet car hauler trailer. Can I still use the primary battery and run 2 gauge pos and neg cables all the way to the back? or its gonna cause a large amount of amperage drop?
Yes you can . But the wire must be sized to carry the maximum full load amps . Welding cable works best as its insulation is rated at 105 C .Also , you only need a ground attached to the trailer ball receiver . I also suggest asking a dealership if the vehicle battery connections have fuse links . Also amperage doesn't drop , Voltage does .
The winch has a break point, (an on/off switch or isolation switch). No different to the ignition in your car buddy. When the switch is off there is no power.

Can I wire a 12v plug to my rear bumper winch and safely plug into my 2K Ford Pro Power generator bed plug?
do you need a dual Battery setup or can you run a winch of just a single battery?
Late response but a single battery is fine. Remember your winch a good rule of thumb is 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off.

So no isolater switch between battery & winch? Wouldn't the cable be live all the time, that can't be good ?

Unless you get a short in the circuit, which is what I think they were getting at...
Awesome video. Can I ground my winch to any part of the frame on my side by side or has to be grounded to the battery!
