Hello Friends! This was a fun little video to make and I hope you learned how easy it is to add quick disconnects to any aux items you may want to add to your rigs. This winch was too powerful for this truck under stock battery/alternator conditions, but it will serve as an example of how to perform the install.

Heat the wire connector, fill it with solder and stick the cable in it. Eliminates the crimping process.

I love this idea. In theory can I use this type of connection and plug it into my the battery on my car trailer? That way i can plug it into my trunk during use and my winch would draw from 3 batteries. Then if someone borrowed my trailer the winch would still work because the trailer has its own battery.

Just make sure your alternator can handle the load!

so what would be the process of adding quick disconnects for front and back of truck? Would you have to add a central junction separating to front and back ? I found this helpful Thank you

Because my winch was on a cradle I did the exact thing you're asking about- I ran wire from my battery all the way to the rear hitch, where the winch would be plugged in. Same exact process as the front, no extra junction needed. I ground directly to the frame in the rear so only power was ran to the back. I put the wire in a plastic loom for added protection and ran it along the frame rail!

Great idea, just copied you!! Consider adding a fuse between the disconnect and the battery as your beautiful truck could burn to the ground is the hot wire gets a nick and grounds out.

@@accountant_mechanic_ Another consideration would be a circuit breaker. We used these all the time for car audio and winch installations. Since they can be reset, you have the ability to let everything cool off, clear the load and reset without fishing out a fuse. Depending on the winch, they have 50-200A. Thanks for the informative video!
