Cool tips thanks. Had me going when i saw the third hand pop up (kidding). I just started to build models again. I am enjoying your tips. You are showing me at the age of 57 I can still learn. Thanks again.
Haven't tried AK's chrome. I will now though. lol Molotow is good. But, I've never had the success with it, as I've had with Alclad. I found Molotow to be kinda thick for wheels, and bumpers. But it is spectacular for a restored 1979 HZ Holden dash fascia, as long as you let it cure for a dogs age. Alclad though, with a Tamiya TS silver, or Gunmetal base, with a coat of Clear smoke over the top to be great. I did a T-800 Endo head years ago. And honestly, I didn't expect the finish to last. But its still chromey after... Oooffff 5, or 6 years now. Yes. They say it must be a Black base. But Silver/GM with the Smoke gives the chrome a brighter vibrancy. My local shop owner is a railroader. So, I've learned the hard way not to trust him. I bought a bottle of Alclad. Even emphasized NOT Alclad for Lexan. Got my shopping bag of supplies home, without checking the contents. Sure enough. Alclad for Lexan. Took it back to exchange it, and he rustled up his last bottle. With a " Its Alclad. And not the Lexan one" he handed it over. I came back home. Emptied another shopping bag full of supplies I'd forgotten to get the first time. And BINGO! Alclad for Lexan. " Third times a charm surely? " I said, as I pulled in to the parking lot again. More supplies bought. Another bag. But this time. No Alclad, because, except for the one I brought back. He'd sold out. Don't get me wrong. The owners a loverly guy. Who builds fantastic looking trains. But I'm starting to get the idea he sells me the wrong stuff just so I come back, and buy more crap. I've heard of repeat business. But bugger me. lol
Mr leveling thinner is amazing stuff. Use it to thin your tamiya acrylics 50/50 and they spray thin and wonderful like lacquers. The biggest issues with Chrome paints is that because we are spraying on super gloss black there is no texture for the paint grip to. My experience with Alclad was that I loved the color, but it wipes off too easy. Molotow goes dull for me or wipes off. I had similar issues with AK extreme metal chrome maybe there's something in the oils in my skin? the rest of the colors were fine, take too long to dry for me as they are enamels. I'm starting to like Gravity colors Mclaren chrome (only order from spain if you try them) but again they are using an enamel black base and require 2 days drying time on the base, and it's a little grainy, but I've had no rubbing issues.
Thank you for this video . I think like you on kit chrome, It's just a little to toy like. Please do the comparison soon with the other chrome option's for us.
I've had real good luck with Molotow by putting in a dehydrator for 1 hour at 120 degrees. Can handle it like any other paint after that and it don't rub off or dull.
I have used the Alclad chrome and it worked well for me. I used their primer, gloss black base and of course their chrome. I did 8 stock car wheel and the bug catcher for the Soapy Sales Challenger funny car. I handled the bug catcher a lot while getting in place because we all know how well MPC kits fit. I didn’t notice any degradation in the chrome appearance. Just my 2 cents. But LC it would be interesting to get your opinions on them all!!
You chose a deep rim which makes it more challenging to chrome but I do like how the bumper came out. I like Alclad but the thing turns black after a while even without touching it. The durability of this product will make me decide if I will be using it long term. Thanks for the video my friend....
If you do the comparison video add in the Vallejo Metal Color Chrome, I have used both and feel there is a real comparison there. Especially when airbrushed. I have just never done them side by for the sole purpose of comparing.
thanks im looking for that paint now p.s could not see any difference on the bumper thanks again love to all reminds me of my dad and well you know scooter d stay safe and happy
If your hobby shop sells Mr Hobby products, you might want to check out the super metallic 2 series of paint. A showdown with their chrome silver vs others would be appreciated. The super metallic 2 sold out fast at my local shop.
Does it make any noticeable difference if you polish it? I hope this is the " holy grail " when it comes to Chrome paint. I'm so tired of " glorified silver "
Luca not related to this really but I recently got a airbrush and compressor set up. Is there anyway either on here or in the group on Facebook that you could give me an idea or run down or the products you would recommend to get started airbrushing. I’ve never done it been rattling since I started and I would love to know what you recommend thanks in advance
Hit me up with a post on the Group. I will direct you to a couple of great video Andy's Hobby Headquarters did. I still go back to check them out to get refreshed.
It looks like you have the pressure of your compressor way too high. I think you will get better results with lower pressure. You want the paints to be wet when it lands on the part. High pressure prevents that.

That is what I started this channel, for.

Thanks for reviewing this. I was wondering about the AK metal paint and how it would look.
That AK Xtreme looked pretty good. I think I'm going to have to get some and try it out.
@Luka, enjoyed the video as always. btw that levelling thinner is a brilliant paint stripper for small parts works right away.
Thanks

Has any one used MOLOTOW for shock absorber rods?? Looks pretty real.
All the time
Sometimes I need a third hand when building models!
I used white primer for this chrome color for a bumper on a car I'm building should I have used black primer ?
i use and like AKs pigments. Great for rust affects. I agree the (aluminum) does look to bright.
your 3rd hand is cool!!!!!
Ak products are the bomb lol i use quite a bit if it but not the chrome yet. But weathering projects come out fantastic!:)
Nice vid !!!!!!!!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks. I'm just trying to keep up with you. LOL
