They need some air play here in the states. Here in N.. Cal sadly I've not heard anything on the radio. Anyway , glad to see it's not just me that think about who's going to save rock music. Thanks Chase, great reaction as usual. There is a live video of Puzzle in 2023 at Tokyo Garden Theater ( on their website ) And of course the acoustic puzzle video with just Kanami and Saiki. Would make a great two-fer showing and older version acoustic with a newer live full electric version.
The difference between the Oct 2022 L.A show and Aug 2023 Anaheim H.O.B. show is remarkable. The bands live performance growth is huge. HOB was a full spectrum show: lovely acoustic(ish) Anemone and Memorable, full blast HATE, MISA-Mincho faceoffs, Akane-MISA-Kanami power trio sections. Kanami throwing down some nasty little tweaks in her solos. Miku and Saiki just owning the audience. Akane doing Akane fills and blasts. I don't know how they can get any better, but I'm sure they will.
Band-Maid has been on my radar to check out for SO long, but for some reason never really got around to it, and then I decide to listen to them and this was the first song I heard and I am literally hooked.
Acoustic? The entire Christmas Day Concert 2021 was an acoustic feast. Kanami rearranged a whole lot of their songs - and Miku did Time and Sayonakidori. Acoustic Puzzle from a different concert is spectacular -- Julia Nilon did a reaction to that.
Hi Chase! Thanks for your reactions. You are my go-to reactor for critical comment on Band-Maid (along with JBF Music and Guitar). Imagine my surprise when I saw you don’t have a reaction to “Alone” by Band-Maid!!!! You have talked about how they are saving rock ‘n’ roll, and how they make you feel happy and hopeful. I would suggest that “Alone” showcases their playing with Minor/Relative Major keys, and how they Trojan Horse major melodies into rock-sounding minor chord structures. I’d be interested in your take on this, and would be overjoyed if you would react to “Alone”, even if it’s not a first reaction. Best wishes!
One of the best examples of them laying more color on the top during a live performance is Dice and Hate at the Lollapalooza concert. You should check it out.
I love when I have songs on repeat for 2 weeks and then you react to them and I find even more things to enjoy about them. Just Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things
"Shambles" is #15 on Billboards World Digital Song Sales chart! They have played this one live twice so far the current tour. Unfortunately not at the show I was at but it was still a great unequaled experience.
😮😮 I knew they have a great history in the global charts, digital and CD but that's great. Too bad American rock radio continues it's "not invented here or another yt majority nation" policy. Sepultura only broke out because Americans don't know geography and thought it was south Florida. 😂
Hopefully they hit UK and Europe this year and get bigger billing invites to 2025 U.S. festivals. I imagine management will weigh any offers and plan tours around those.
If you get a chance, watch the live 2023 Lollapalooza version of the song "Hate?", especially the drum intro. That is one of my favorite songs and they stuck a few new parts in it that even make it better :). Thanks for the Band-Maid reaction!!
Although I do not comment much any more, I always catch your reactions. I enjoyed the reaction, like always. Puzzle does have an accoustic version, but its not on you tube any more (Julia Nilon reacted to it like 2 years ago now even though it is not up on you tube, a fan sent her the video). The accoustic version of puzzle is still my favorite all time song from them and that is saying something considering how much I enjoy their music. Thanks Chase, keep safe and well!
No God would be a good potential double reaction to. Great song, fantastic acoustic rendition, and I believe there's a great live version out there as well
You mentioned "Ty" (sp) telling you about PUZZLE. If I may - PUZZLE has been done both hard rock (I highly recommend the live @ Tokyo Garden video) and acoustic (a live Saiki and Kanami duet). I hope you consider searching these two out for a reaction. If not, I understand. Thank you for your wonderful reaction to BAND-MAID's SHAMBLES.
Glad to see you do Band-Maid again Chase.....don't stay away so long. "Shambles" has rapidly climbed to my top 130 Band-Maid songs. GO-GORILLA!!!! Wonderfully produced video too......THIS is why I LOVE their Music Videos, KUDOS to the Band-Maid video crew, you cats are Masters! My favorite part of Shambles is when Akane played her drums, and Miku played her guitar and sang back-up, and Kanami played her guitar, and then MISA played her guitar and when Saiki was singing.
Love this heavier side of Band-Maid! Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things, indeed! Ryan has said he wonders if Kanami is ever satisfied with a song, and that the music techs have to push her out the door, saying this is done, Mincho! The scruffy little genius surrounded with excellent friends and musicians turn out great songs, every time! The opening riff hooked me, right away!
Mincho's not scruffy - she's kinda "Mori Girl" a definite scatty casual cute genre of her own. Other Japanese of her generation who like to wear "comfortable pretty" style and hang around all morning in a favourite café with a book or take a walk alone in nature will totally relate. Tend to be geeky somewhat autistic women of indeterminate sexuality. I'm glad saiki forced her to buy decent sensible shoes rather than the thrift store crazy cat lady ones she had before. 😅
@@stevekane4922 Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for Kanami, and love her to death! I only use that nick name cause I've seen and heard many use it. Kanami is a musical genius, if a bit spacy, but a lot of dreamers are.
Always look forward to your reactions to Band-Maid. I love how powerfully smooth the chorus is in this song which is a great contrast to the hardness of the bass and guitar riffs. BTW - when you going to do Mear's request of reacting to Gion-cho? 😉
Interesting that you first talk about 'Puzzle' and then want to make a comparison between an original and the corresponding Acoustic version. Hardly any song of which there are videos for both versions might lend itself better to this (imo). :) I hope Ty sent you both versions of it. If not, quick note and we'll get that sorted out. 😉 Thank you! As always, it was a great pleasure to hear your thoughts and insights on one of the Maids' songs. 🙏🏻🙋🏻♂ _____________________ _"Sometimes we laugh because we're sad or to hide our frustration"_ - from *Gacharic Spin* -「 I Wish I 」 🎶✨
It was written for an anime. So fitted in with that but still unmistakably The Maids. A little heavier and personally a return to the days of Rinne and the heavier sound that they made they own. Kanami works heavily behind the scenes in the recording process as well writing the music. They have done an acoustic concert a few years ago. They do manage to make the acoustic a completely different atmosphere to the live which feels different to the recording. They really are great musicians.
Welcome to the party, pal! Lol. Finally, one if the reactions I really wanted to hear! 😊 Ok so as to your closing comments: BM debuted thus one live in Sacramento on Monday night and again in Tuesday night in Anaheim (followed immediately by Rinne). I saw it at Anaheim, and it was glorious! So yeah, they can definitely pull it off live! 😉 As for re-imaging songs, you have 2 full albums of that: the Christmas live acoustic album and the Band-Maiko album. As fot live shows, they tend to throw in alternate intros or extended solos to keep things fresh. At Anaheim, they used an alternate intro for Daydreaming (extended solo piano) and a bass/lead guitar duel extended solo for Don't You Tell Me. Thry also did a immediate song transition from Dice into Hate!. Those two flow so well together.
This was commissioned for the ending theme for the brawler anime Kengan Ashura. #3 or #4 Anime commission that they have done. Anime commissions are a big deal for Japanese Bands. Free PR!!! If you haven't seen one yet - Put in Small Miku, The clips are off the scale of Adorable.
Wow! Chase Carneson hasn’t done “Puzzle?!” And you wonder about an acoustic interpretation? I might have to suggest “Puzzle,” Live from Tokyo Garden Theater followed immediately by “Puzzle,” acoustic live version 2018 Saiki and Kanami, two chairs, one guitar, and endless emotional impact These two versions deserve the first class Chase treatment 🤘🏽 🎉 I can’t wait
There's two acoustic songs on the Band-Maid official channel "Sayonakidori" and "Catharsis". According to Miku it took them all day to film the 14 tracks. If you join the fan club you can (if you're quick) buy a copy of the CD when it gets re-pressed in limited numbers. (Gets horribly expensive if you're buying it on its own from Japan.) Be interesting to know how many times they played each song to get all the camera angles etc (especially in "Sayonakidori" )
"Warning" had the ladies shivering in a cold rain and now "Shambles" has them roasting back at what I presume is World Domination World Headquarters. I wonder what the lyricists (Miku/Saiki) think when Kanami and company lay down the demo tracks. "This will be hard, po." So good, so talented. That goes for Chase as well. Cheers!
I think for what you are imagining; the acoustic of H-G-K or No God would be good. Puzzle is an awesome song to review as it's got those multiple riffs that Kanami-san plays in one song. It's also got an acoustic version where only Saiki-san and Kanami-san are performing.
Since you mentioned it at 12:25 then your wish can easily be granted, for there's the "Puzzle" live from The Tokyo Garden Theatre and then the "Puzzle" Acoustic Live from Zepp. You could do a double maybe🤔
Hi Chase! Great reaction. I always learn something from watching your videos. Today it was hearing the bass in this song differently when you talked about how it sounded to you. It made me think about how I analyze sound from instruments. PUZZLE. If you decide to do a reaction to it, Band Maid has done both the acoustic and the most recent "live" version. Julia did a reaction to the acoustic version which I recommend after you do your reaction. Julia dove in a bit deep into the song and well... once you watch it, you'll know what I mean. Great stuff! Great Channel! Go 70k!
I have always loved your reactions of B-M since the beginning. Thank you! However, there is one instrumental of B-M that is a bit overlooked by reactors that I think you would appreciate. That is the slow and beautiful "Memories of Wind and Wine". IMHO, when a musician plays soft and slow, that is when you can separate the good one from the Masters!
Ooh...how about a Puzzle 2fer...original and the legendary live acoustic? Aka...how to rearrange a song with same lyrics but entirely different vibe (Saiki-tastic ❤). Keep Maid Rockin 👍👌🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for these. I'm a new Band Maid fan and have been hungrily hunting down reactions/analysis to help me connect to and appreciate the music more, and yours are my hands down favorite. I found you relatively early on, and basically everyone else disappoints me in how little of substance they have to say. The more I look, the more I appreciate you. When you get to Puzzle, consider checking out the Studio Coast live version. I think the mix is better than the studio version, or the official live (where Saiki seems like her voice is a little worn out). Most of their studio stuff, I feel like Miku's backing vocals are mixed too low, and the harmonies always sound better in their live videos.
Yes, Shambles is the Akane show with special guest stars Kanami, MISA, Saiki and Miku. But wait! Was it really the Kanami show, because she wrote the song and played it with such forcefulness and exquisite abandon. Or was it the MISA show because without MISA, the rapturous drive of the song would be a ride on four flat tires. Or was it the Saiki show because she focused the sonic chaos into a song with melodies that could express Miku's lyrics like no other singer could. Without Saiki, Shambles might sound like a familiar instrumental. Or was it the Miku show because, damn, she wrote the lyrics, played the important rhythm parts, and added her unique brand of backup vocals that have become a defining "sixth instrument" of Band-Maid. So exactly whose show was it? It was the Maid's show, as usual! 🤘🎀🤘 Thx, Chase!
If I might suggest: do a two-fer of “Puzzle,” a live, electric version and the live, acoustic version. That should, if there was ever any doubt, let you see what marvelous musicians they are.
Please take a look back at their acoustic live of Sayonakidori on their channel. I think you’ll love it. Also, there’s a very little-known prog band called Aviations that has an album coming out in a couple of weeks. I’d love for you to react to their MV “Legend.”
To fulfill your request, I suggest the Acoustic version of No God to see them adapt a very heavy song into an acoustic. That was done without an audience. If you want an audience for an acoustic version of a song there is the song you brought up: Puzzle. They play it both electric and have done Acoustic live.
Thanks, my friend! What a great band 😅

Band-Maid has been on my radar to check out for SO long, but for some reason never really got around to it, and then I decide to listen to them and this was the first song I heard and I am literally hooked.
Everyone needs Band-Maid energy in their life!
Grateful is right, I have been grateful since I first heard them in 2020. Makes me happy all the time!
I was hoping for your reaction! Can‘t wait to hear it, Chase. Thank you for your support of the Maids on your channel!
The Maids put on their metal hat for this one brother.
I had the absolute pleasure to be in the first crowd to hear this live, and man they went even harder somehow
Acoustic? The entire Christmas Day Concert 2021 was an acoustic feast. Kanami rearranged a whole lot of their songs - and Miku did Time and Sayonakidori. Acoustic Puzzle from a different concert is spectacular -- Julia Nilon did a reaction to that.
Saw this live in Anaheim.
Transition to Kanami solo is just Perfect!
Heeeee’s BACK!!!! And so are the Maids !!! Great song here!!
It wasn't enough to blow us away, Saiki had to steal our breath right at the end as well.
The recent live version of Puzzle is definitely worth a listen.
Classic Band-Maid chaos, we love it😊
One of the best examples of them laying more color on the top during a live performance is Dice and Hate at the Lollapalooza concert.
If you are interested in hearing their acoustic interpretations of songs, listen to their Christmas acoustic concert.
Unleash the Maids!!!
Even though I live in the US and saw them last year, I really wish they’d go to the UK just for you to see them.
EDIT: nvm I can't read. I do hope they do a tour in Europe next year though!
@@Parker-- I didn't know they had announced anything for next year yet! Do you have the details? Cheers
@@Davey-Boyd 😔I'm a dummy. They did not. They just reposted this year's tour dates yesterday.
Hopefully they hit UK and Europe this year and get bigger billing invites to 2025 U.S. festivals. I imagine management will weigh any offers and plan tours around those.
@@Parker-- You had me excited then!
Great song, fantastic acoustic rendition, and I believe there's a great live version out there as well
There is an acoustic version of the song Different that is just Saiki and Kanami and it's amazing!
This song brother is just a metal track that will seriously punch you in the face. Love the Maids!!!!
puzzle live and then puzzle acoustic live would be the next one to watch.
Entertaining and enlightening as always..... do yourself a favour, Puzzle acoustic. Saiki exposes her soul.
Always a pleasure to see you coming back to Band Maid... and very nice to see the reactor community giving shoutouts. A rising tide and what not...
Always love your unique take Chase!
I was on hand to catch the live debut of SHSMBLES in Sacramento, CA three days ago. It was awesome. Multiple fan cams are up on TH-cam already.
Thank you! As always, it was a great pleasure to hear your thoughts and insights on one of the Maids' songs. 🙏🏻🙋🏻♂

Ok so as to your closing comments: BM debuted thus one live in Sacramento on Monday night and again in Tuesday night in Anaheim (followed immediately by Rinne). I saw it at Anaheim, and it was glorious! So yeah, they can definitely pull it off live! 😉
As for re-imaging songs, you have 2 full albums of that: the Christmas live acoustic album and the Band-Maiko album.
For Band Maid, add one more criteria: How do they cover it as Band Maiko!!
Another great BAND-MAID reaction/analysis. Thanks!
Band-Maid's best sound mix to date. Akane and Misa own this reality, the rest of us are fortunate to inhabit it
Wow! Chase Carneson hasn’t done “Puzzle?!”
And you wonder about an acoustic interpretation?
I might have to suggest “Puzzle,” Live from Tokyo Garden Theater followed immediately by “Puzzle,” acoustic live version 2018
Saiki and Kanami, two chairs, one guitar, and endless emotional impact
These two versions deserve the first class Chase treatment 🤘🏽 🎉
I can’t wait
Was in the car earlier today listening to Shambles and was wondering: when is Chase going to do a reaction? Lo and behold, perfect timing !!
"This will be hard, po."
So good, so talented. That goes for Chase as well. Cheers!
Hello Chase, you certainly have not reacted to puzzle acoustic.
It's a typical Band-Maid song, as in it's easily one of, if not, the best song you've heard all year. 😉 It's such a fire track all around.
Acoustic version of "No God" is surprisingly solid. Almost a complete re-imagining - more like a cover of themselves.
Puzzle is the perfect choice for electric verses acoustic
Haha. "Relentless" is a great description of this track.
Song is being used in the end credits of a recent anime…..
Chase, you should check out some of the fan-cams from the recent US tour. They've been going nuts.
I think for what you are imagining; the acoustic of H-G-K or No God would be good. Puzzle is an awesome song to review as it's got those multiple riffs that Kanami-san plays in one song. It's also got an acoustic version where only Saiki-san and Kanami-san are performing.
Puzzle and the live acoustic version would be a great double reaction
A couple of songs I noticed missing from your playlist were Secret my Lips and Alone. Definitely a couple of bangers, if/when you get around to them.
Since you mentioned it at 12:25 then your wish can easily be granted, for there's the "Puzzle" live from The Tokyo Garden Theatre and then the "Puzzle" Acoustic Live from Zepp. You could do a double maybe🤔
If you haven’t listened to Puzzle yet, that is a great one to compare the acoustic version.
Great reaction mate feeling it
Ooh...how about a Puzzle 2fer...original and the legendary live acoustic? Aka...how to rearrange a song with same lyrics but entirely different vibe (Saiki-tastic ❤). Keep Maid Rockin 👍👌🤘🤘🤘
Love the video, and the analysis On Band-Maid. They were great to see live. And, is that a Denver Broncos hat I see in teh back?
When you do Puzzle, follow it with the acoustic version of Puzzle I think it's what you are looking for
To fulfill your request, I suggest the Acoustic version of No God to see them adapt a very heavy song into an acoustic. That was done without an audience. If you want an audience for an acoustic version of a song there is the song you brought up: Puzzle. They play it both electric and have done Acoustic live.
3 Words: MISA, MISA and MISA
I'd LOVE to see your reaction to the Lollapalooza live version of 'HATE?' from BAND-MAID!!!! You can thank me later :D :D :D :D
