A Link Between Worlds might be the best Zelda game in the entire series. I definitely have it in my top three along with Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess. It’s a fantastic game that checks all the boxes in terms of music, story, dungeons, gimmicks, items, puzzles, characters, side quests, adventure, overworld, etc…
I'd argue a link between worlds was the first Zelda made to intentionally break the Zelda mold, which is still seen to this day. Every game post it had a greater focus on nonlinearity which this game was the first for in modern Zelda
I actually think this did it better than breath, tears, and echoes. It managed to have really cool dungeons while still having the freedom to choose which order to do them in. I still prefer the og style of linear (mostly) dungeon progression because they can stack mechanics. But, this was still really well done, and if they must keep the non-linear order... I would prefer they do it this way.
This is perfect timing, I literally just beat A Link Between Worlds on my 3DS for the first time 10 minutes ago. Fantastic game and great follow up to A Link to the Past
Story - ALTTP (the Maidens being imperiled and Zelda forcibly taken and zapped away before your eyes is just far more compelling) Gameplay - ALTTP (I hate ALBW's weird floaty collision detection. ALTTP is far more solid and consistent) Bosses - ALBW (MUCH better gimmicks and difficulty levels.) character arcs - ALBW (Hilda and Ravio are great characters and I even like Yuga as a Foil version of Ganon, who is a masculine brawny sorcerer with dark magic-everything Yuga isn't.) Resolution/End - ALBW (the final cutscene is genuinely one of my favorites out of all games) Both games are fantastic, but ALTTP edges out the win from me.
@thesterndragoon9159 Story - A Link Between Worlds has a story where you know most of the sages and are attached to them. Like the little witch, who i was worried about. Difficulty- i swear I say this in every Zelda comment section but not everyone who plays these games is a "gamer". Some of us are older and busy and would like to enjoy something without banging our heads against the wall. I still died twice in ALBW l.
I have always called this the most underrated Zelda game. I didn't play ALTTP when i was young. I played the first at a friend's house when it was released, but i didn't like it. My first real Zelda experience was OoT and I've been a fan ever since. The most EXP. I have with the snes game is playing randomizers. I love a link between worlds and i hate to say this but... it marked the last Zelda game that i truly enjoyed as a Zelda game. I don't hate breath, tears, or echoes... but i just love cool dungeons and none of them have those, or cool items. This has it all, and still boasts freedom of where to go. I will ALWAYS prefer linear dungeon progression over choose your own adventure because it allows the devs to stack mechanics in each dungeon to make use of your items. This is a close second though, and i miss this kind of game. Now if i can just get a Zelda game where i can play as rabbit link...
I 100% agree with you in pretty much all of your points. For many alttp was their first zelda adventure, so i get the praise and why it is always on top 10's and 5's, but i'm a oot guy, that was my first zelda and when i played alttp i was an adult so no nostalgia for me there, and when a link between worlds came out, for me it did everything that a link to the past did but better, to me albw deserved to be on those top's and many times it isn't but alttp is, for that reason i find albw really underrated even if people enjoyed it. Both epic games though
I don’t know if I’m just bad at the game, but I played ALTTP for the first time earlier this year and didn’t have a great time. I much prefer ALBW but I recognize how important ALTTP was for the franchise
Its actually pretty close for me. But there is one thing that i didnt liked about albtw and thats how close the camera is to link. You had a much better overview in alttp. Thats why its much more pleasing to me to play alttp. 😅
Link to the Pat was my first Zelda game, but I like Link Between Worlds more. It took the lessons from Link to the Past, and learned from them, improving much. My biggest complaint, though, is that it's too easy. That said the ending is what cemented it as my favorite Zelda game.
A link to the past is my favourite..shares First Place on my Zelda podium with ocarina of time..a link between worlds is right beside them on second place 🎉😊😂 both of the "link' games are brillant.
Hard to believe ALBW came out over a decade ago. Can’t really go wrong with either one but I give ALTTP a slight edge but it’s hugely due specific preference. I didn’t care for the go anywhere you want immediately and obtain any item immediately gimmick. I’ve generally preferred the wonder of “what’s over there” and not being able to get there until I progress further into the game. Also while both games did it, Yuga was a strong villain so I don’t understand why they felt the need to shoehorn Ganon in. Regardless though, ALBW was an excellent addition to the series and it’s a shame that it’s stuck in the 3DS. The 3D was cool in the game but it’s fun in 2D so I don’t see why it hasn’t been brought to Switch online yet. Or with any luck it’ll get the Link’s Awakening remake treatment.
Link to the PAST is better if you DIE in Link between worlds and do NOT PERMANENTLY BUY the Rented equipment you will end up losing EVERY SINGLE tool/weapon you rented still losing the Rupee COSTS for those. Link to the past also has EASIER Mini game for their respective heart pieces.
alttp is really cool but actually playing it is so miserable enemies just merge into you and you can't hit them but they can, everything in the dark world deals way too much damage so if you're bad like me you die over 40 times, the primitive dungeon map isnt very helpful
@@Ryan64yt I couldn't finish worlds, I got so bored, but played a bunch of dungeons, do they get harder. Spatial navigation and getting lost in dungeons is the whole point of Zelda imo. It's why I don't understand why people don't like the water temple.

@@ShadowWizard224 definitely in the top 3 of 2D Zeldas, though I think the 3D ones are generally better so I don't think I'd consider it top 3 overall

Never really thought about it in this way, very well said! I should’ve mentioned this in the video!

Where can you play It? Is it avaible on the switch?
A link between worlds is only available on the 3Ds… unless you have a computer, then you have infinite possibilities of playing it…
Heres what i gotta say
Both are worth it, just treat it like a duology
Absolutely
Only one of these games has a randomizer with Super Metroid. The choice is clear.
I personaly Like a link to the past more because it was my first Zelda
I love both of these games. I was a kid when ALTTP came out and it is one of my all time favorites. To my surprise, I like ALBW even more.
If a link between worlds wasn't crazy easy, it'd be my favorite Zelda game. As is, i still think it's better than alttp
6:45!!! First time ever Heard Someone agree with me about misery mire! Wish i could give you 1000 thumbs up Just for that.

A Link Between Worlds all night
Why, yes! I AM reading this!
A Link to the Past all day
I feel like such a slacker fan. I’m missing the premieres 😭
🤦 fake sub

Why do keep missing these😭
Unfortunate schedule alignment…
albw is the best 2d zelda
alttp is really cool but actually playing it is so miserable

i like albw alot more just because i have vastly more hours and playthroughs than i do of alttp
I’m in the same boat as you, i feel more playthroughs would strengthen my love for LTTP
ALTTP > Pretty much every game
Fight me on it. 🤷🏾♂🤷🏾♂
I just did, in this video… but I respect it!
Alttp has more “satisfying” bosses ngl
@SonicTheHedgehogX15 it always bothered me how “Velcro-y” the hit sound was, made it sound like rubbing a balloon on spandex
albw my goat🙏
Alttp, the dungeons in worlds are piss easy
Very easy, but still better than a link to the pasts

can you stop showing tears of the kingdom trailler footage.
