When I got my Haldane Orkney, I switched my Ashford Traddy to plying only. Worsted spinning on the Traditional was like slow motion. The Traddy was made it 1974 and still solid as a rock. I hope the Elizabeth holds up as well.
How interesting that you ply and spin on separate wheels. Some of my wheels, especially the older ones, do like to go one direction better than the other. I might have to try that! Thanks for sharing about your wheels! I hope mine hold up as well as yours have.
I'm glad you found it helpful! Since making this video, one of my friends who is relatively new to spinning has been trying it out, and it's her favorite of my wheels that she's tried. I think it's great for people who want a more meditative process with their spinning because it really does force you to slow down. I know that's a big part of why I spin. Thanks for your comment and happy spinning!
Hi. I got this wheel a couple of months ago. It was the last one of this year's bunch ashford had. I did watch your video a few times before I got it. Thanks. I am a bit confused still about the two movable things at the end of the wheel. I think one is for tension
That's so exciting! Congratulations on your new wheel. On mine there are two "knobs" that stick out of the end of the table that the wheel sits in. One is the tension screw which moves the mother/flyer assembly closer or farther from the wheel to adjust the tension. There is a knob underneath the table that you have to loosen to use the tension screw and then tighten down before spinning. The other "knob" pulls straight out and is actually the storage spot for the orifice hook which you use to pull your yarn through the orifice from the bobbin. I also have the possibility to set up Scotch tension with a brake band with a couple of knobs at the base of the mother under the bobbin. Happy spinning!
Thanks for the informational video. I have the Elizabeth 24" wheel, and I am thinking about getting the 30" also, but I would like to see a picture of them side by side for comparison. Are you able to do this?
It is definitely one of those wheels that I would like to try out to see what it can do. Love the cat!
Zephyr says, "Thank you!"

Im considering buying one of these wheels. So your video helped me decide, given the price of it. Thanks

Thanks for the look at this wheel! I will look it up for sure.
You are welcome! Thank you for the comment.

Thank you for your comment! Unfortunately, I don't have the 24" wheel, so cannot do a side by side comparison.
What a great video! Subscribed! ♥ it!
