John Deere 5065E with JD 813 3-Bottom Plow

John Deere 5065E plowing a few short strips for the next planting of chestnut trees. Love the 3-bottom plow compared to the old 2-bottom. This tractor could definitely pull a 4-bottom & possibly a 5-bottom plow!

Dont know what it is but there is something about plowing up soil that I really enjoy... my son graduated from West Point a while back and when he came home the first thing he wanted to do is jump on the tractor and plow soil...

Thanks for sharing John. My brother and I just bought a Deere 2025r for my tree plot. Just got 150 white pine, sugar maple, and tulip tree seedlings. Hope it's not too late to plant lol. Thanks again for your inspiration.

Thanks for sharing I have the same model tractor and I was wondering what model plow is that your running? I am looking to do a few plots as certainly new to food crops!

I believe it is a John Deere 813 plow. The 5065e pulls the 3-bottom easily. It does even better when I use the MWFD on hillier heavy clay. Good luck on those food plots! It’s a lot of fun.

At that depth of course it might pull a 4 bottom. My plow goes about 10 inches deep.

I run my plow 8-10" deep. It will easily pull a 4-bottom. I can't even tell the 3-bottom is behind it.

That is a lot more tractor than my 2 wh dr compact Kubota l2350 of 25 hp with only box blade and bush hog vs John Deere 5065E
4 wh dr with front end loader .

PTO (tested): 57.96 hp [43.2 kW]
I can not really justify such a purchase for my small acreage

I bought a little more tractor than I currently need, but I anticipate higher power needs as the orchard starts producing. I love those 25hp tractors though! Very agile!

I started w a shovel & rake in 2010 - lawn mower and a root-tiller in 2014 - Ferguson TO-30 in 2015 - JD tractor in 2018.
