    When fitting discs, They need to be inline with the Front edg of the mold board,
    then you will have a clean furrow,
    after that drive it in the creek.......

    you need sway chains on the 3 point hith to keep the plow inline with your right wheel so it doesn't leave any unplowed dirt between passes

    • @robobrien4148

      Never use sway control on a plow you adjust the plow to follow the tractor that's why it has adjustment to swing rear of plow right or left

    I used to pull a two bottom with a 8n ford its about a 19 horse tractor in hard red clay

  • @lancerobb4480
    @lancerobb4480 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just sold a 1958 641L ford Workmaster tractor with excellent compression. I replaced it with a NH Workmaster 33 or 33 horsepower. That new diesel tractor with loader is much heavier than the fully weighted old 641. I run the same attachments and when I use the Brush hog the new turbo diesel never even strains. The old 641 was rated at 48 horsepower and the new one 33. I used the older one even as a kid in OK on the grandparents farm and it never had the power of the new one. A 641 was a 3 bottom plow tractor so I would say any 25 horse tractor being a little turbo diesel would pull it, you might have to go to an auction and score some rusty wheel weights and get some heavy all thread and make some adapters but it would pull it especially a shuttle or hydrostat that we have today that are infinitely adjustable, always have the right gear. If you have a loader you might have some weight in it too.

  • @17br549
    @17br549 11 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The coulters need to be set another couple inches to the left, the paint needs to be scrubbed off the moldboards, and the tractor needs fluid added to the rear tires.

  • @quadarinxxx
    @quadarinxxx 12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @RoughNeckRage All about weight and traction. We have an old Fordson Super Dexta with about 35-40hp, and it would pull a three furrow bottom plow easy. have never tried a compact tractor with ag tires, so I'm not sure how big difference it makes compared to the ones in the video, but a 2bottom plow for a 42hp 4x4 tractor should be fine. so if your soil isn't extremely hard, i'd say go for it!

    For comparison. I have a Ford 680 tractor. Just about the same weight as the tractor in the video MINUS the loader. My 860 is rated at 45HP by the Nebraska tests. Almost identical in the tests with that Kubota. My 860 doesn't have a loader. The Kubota because of things like the 4 wheel drive is heavier. Then the loader adds even more weight. I'm up grading from a 2-12" plow (I used that with a Ford 8N) to a 2-14. So that Kubota, with the plow set up correctly, and with an experienced operator in the seat should play with that plow.

    Hey Ted, I notice that you did not remove the stabilizers from your tractor. A plow it supposed to be able to float side to side. that is why the tractor is spinning with the small plow behind it and why as you can see in the video the driver is having to keep the front wheel pulling the front around back into the furrow way.
    Other than that good video the rest is correct.

    • @marcelkroeze7580
      @marcelkroeze7580 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dougarrowhead no. A well set up plow will follow the tractor in a straight line without restriction, if the tractor pulls straight the plow will follow that same line. The plow wants the tractors front to go right, when you set it up right the tractor will pull slightly to the left and this ballances each other out.

    • @oldtanker2
      @oldtanker2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

       George Thomas That Kubota is maybe 1500 pounds or so heavier than a TO20 or N Ford. The 2150 pound 9N or 2700 TO20 are no where near as heavy as that Kubota in the vid. The tractor in the video is around 4,000 without the loader. That looks to be in the L40 series.

    • @stuartluig2911

      @@stuartluig2911 Guys been plowing with hydros sense the 60's. The Kubota is heavier and more HP. The hydro isn't affecting the ability to plow. On a tractor that size I bet that hydro only eats 3-4 HP. So the Kubota with loader is X2 the HP and 1500-2500 pounds heavier?

    • @EverythingAttachments
      @EverythingAttachments  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A plow turns over the vegetation and, if you give it some time before discing or tilling, it will decompose and your garden will benefit.
      The plow also cuts deeper, which is also good for your plot.
      Preferred order is plow, disc and till. You can leave out the disc and go straight to tilling, but the disc simply helps out the tiller with an intermediate breaking of the soil.

As for you stuck attachment, I would start with a penetrating oil, hopefully it will soak in within a day or two, if not, a hammer could be useful, and hopefully you don't have to go as far as using a torch to pull it off. my dad just bought a b3200 a few weeks ago and was wondering if we would be able to pull our double 12s that we pull with our l295dt because this new tractor seems really light and the tires just arent gonna have the grip of the ag tires

    Jeez ...what a mess- ploughing far too deep- I know its basic equipment but the object is to turn the furrow, burying the grass, go too deep like this and the mouldboards can't turn it completely over leaving grass poking through as demonstated here!

  • @donniebargo964
    @donniebargo964 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tell me why I 19 and 22 horsepower Ford tractor or International tractor will pull the two bottom plows like you have but are 24 and 25 horsepower compact tractors won't do it is it just the weight because the weight is not that much difference between them as a matter of fact the compact tractors way more than the old tractors like that did

    • @EverythingAttachments
      @EverythingAttachments  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The older 19-22 hp tractors had larger frames, big ag tires and were designed for pulling in the field. Most of the modern compact tractors are designed more for landscaping and loader work along with some, but not as much, ability to pull in the field. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Moldboards aren’t shiny yet and he’s going to slow for the soil to lift and actually turn over...

    • @Gixzer04
      @Gixzer04 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      1DirtyMutt I plow with horses that walk slower n turn that dirt just fine. Has more to do with plow still wasn’t level in the furrow. Can see landslide 1” off the ground in the rear. Shiny mold boards simply keep it from sticking w dirt not turning it over. Also why tractor spun cuz plow is digging n not leveling out. When it levels out it actually puts pressure to the rear tires. And none of these tractors have hydraulic down force. Unless a hydraulic top link is added. They only lift with pressure. Hope this helps

    Do you need to plow, or can you just till?

    • @EverythingAttachments
      @EverythingAttachments  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plowing is a great initial step in soil preparation which should increase crop yields. It's a good idea to turn the soil over with a plow in late fall, which will cause the organic matter to decompose and add nutrients back to the soil. Disking prior to planting in the Spring will mix the matter up and leave you with a better soil composition to work with! Thanks for watching!!
