1. So is Dhammasangini, vibhanga, Dhatukattha, puggala pannati, kathavatthu, patthana in abhidhamma parts of suttapitaka 2. I had a question that is, in abhidhamma chapter "citta" there is Ahetuka kiriya citta (rootless functional consciousness), one citta is somanassasahagata Hasituppada ahetuk kiriya citta. Why this citta only for Buddha.?
No there were 5 or 6? councils - the last one in 1952 in Burma. As to your other comment when you follow how Bhante teaches you understand that many of the tenets of the Abhidhamma are actually wrong. There are correct ones but when you practice you understand how it really works. Many students can't believe it but after they become advanced they put that and the Vissudhi Magga back on the shelf.
Try and and learn Abhidhamma as much as possible and ,practically, reflect on it.....(yes,it is quite hard to comprehend it by ,us lay people ,due to our ever present ignorance) Abhidhamma is simply the name of the way The Buddha presented reality and the truth by breaking it down and categorizing it quite analytically and magnificently ....the seven books clearly explains all of it...and it is unbelievably massive and amazing.... There's no need to worry bout when or where The Buddha preached Abhidhamma....
No. they didn't miss anything. Arahanth Ananda was the remarkable human being ever walk on this earth with that immeasurable power of memory after lord Buddha him self. they simply preserved the "Shasthru Sasanaya" for us, for the future, for the human race. Simply Abhidhamma was not there at that moment. if it was there we would not be arguing today about it. because those great arahanths would not leave us another problem to get imprisoned in our minds in the name of Dhamma.
Only 3 councils were considered real councils? Really - where do you get this information. Tell Mahasi Sayadaw and the thousands of monks in Burma that their council wasn't "real". Abhi Dhamma means actually Higher Teachings (of the Jhanas and the way to Nibbana). This is what is in the Suttas. The Suttas never refered to the Abhidhamma you are talking about because, even as you and others point out, it wasn't written yet! That Nikaya came many many years after the Buddha passed.
he has not fully understood....we have to accept abhidhamma is very difficult to understand. only a buddha can preach abidhamma. and he says abidhamma came in only after the 4th summit. but there were only 3. and if you compare sutta and abidhamma...it's like this. say a doctor who knows medicine well...and there is the pharmacist who also knows medicine by seeing all prescriptions...abidhamma is like the doctor who knows what...and sutta is like the pharmacist...
Lord Buddha did not categorize anything. But he did impose many rules on the bhikkus only to get away from the public complains. such as you should wear a cloth when having a bath. this was issued purely because vishaka had seen a monk having a bath naked in a lake and complained to Buddha saying it's not appropriate for a arihath. remember it was later by the arihaths who gathered and organized what buddha taught. they categorized in to three sections. vinaya, suthra and abidhamma. vinaya describes the rules that were imposed on bhikkus. suthra contains the preachings that were delivered by bhudda to different people and groups. thats why they always start with "Thus I have heard buddha say" (evam me suthang ekan samayan bhagava) abidhamma does not have this because it contains everything said in a suthra pitakaya in a nut shell. so abidhamma is the core of teaching. suthra is the ways and examples taken by budhha to describe abidhamma. compare with a mango. the peel is like the vinaya. sour and hard. but it protects what's inside. suthra is like the delicious fruit inside. tasty and draws you to it. abidhamma is the seed. most important thing for the fruit. it will give life. you might find there are contradictions between abidhamma and suthra pitakaya. but it happens because of your lack of understanding. ( i was told this by a wise bhikku). if you understand the abidhamma well, you will see that everything tallies nicely.
True. Abhidhamma is the core of Buddha's teaching. That is the truth. To understand this one does not have to become a monk. What one needs is wisdom assisted with analytical power.
Do we really have to make this a big issue??? if anyone who knows about the very first council of Dhamma lead by Arahanth ven.Ananda, will ask an important question. as preserving this supreme bliss of Dhamma for the future those great sons of Buddha categorized these teachings in to two. Suttha and Vinaya. Suttha it self consists with 5 sections as Deega nikaya,Majjima Nikaya,Anguththara nikaya, khuddhaka nikaya,Samyuththa nikaya. Where is Abhidamma? Did those great men miss it? did they really?
only 3 are considered actual councils where bhikkus attended were direct students of lord Budddha. i accept i do not know abidhamma. if i do..i'd be arhath :-) but i have heard from whom i believe is an arhath that if you think somethings are wrong in abidhamma, it means you have not understood correctly. sutta may not reflect because these are seperate sermons delivered by lord Buddha for individuals or groups.
I am sorry to hear that you saying that Sutta and Abhidhamma contradict in some places. You think there are some contradictions probably because you cannot see the line between ultimate reality (the Paramata) and apparent reality (the PiNiat).
💐💐💐Vandami Bhante💐💐💐
I have some questions about abhidhamma. Can I ask you?
I can get you answers - just ask
1. So is Dhammasangini, vibhanga, Dhatukattha, puggala pannati, kathavatthu, patthana in abhidhamma parts of suttapitaka
2. I had a question that is, in abhidhamma chapter "citta" there is Ahetuka kiriya citta (rootless functional consciousness), one citta is somanassasahagata Hasituppada ahetuk kiriya citta. Why this citta only for Buddha.?
@@pragatiprabhe2251 No it isn’t. As to second question you ask a Abhidhamma expert.
Ok, Thank you☺

Good for Bhante for telling the truth about this very important issue.
