As a Tesla owner I say no way. 80 miles is not enough for a week long hunting trip. Running a generator to charge this in camp would make me crazy vs a 5 gal gas can. And this is twice the price of the Honda 1000 side by side my son in law just bought. And it seats 4 with a bed.
Considering it can charge 0-100% in just 5 hours on 240V, a generator in the bed could provide ample juice to get you back out into civilization pretty quick.
The 5 hour charge rating is at 6kw. Which would require a 7kw or larger generator because all generators have a continuous load rating less than advertised peak rating. a 7kw generator is going to be big, heavy, and obnoxious. And if you want one that isn't ridiculously loud, it will also be expensive. Like, say, the Honda eu7000is @ $4,500. No I have a 2010 polaris ranger ev and paid 7k with upgraded lfp batteries
The same here. I think I am 8K into mine, but I added a second very costly battery. If the previous owner hadn't already fitted a single big lithium, I could have put 4x the capacity for the same cost.
I need Air conditioning and heat for that money 💰
And auto suck.
@@homertalklol
There is a heat option for the Kinetic. But it is also cra cra money. I got that option and it works pretty good! Works just like a gigantic hair drier.
It needs a 50kwh battery and a fast charge option
So cool till it catches fire 🔥
Trying to plug it into the tree … tree doesn’t have gas station or diesel either.
80 miles isn't far for many riding areas in Arizona and Utah. This EV may be more at home as a working vehicle in a ranch or farm.
SxS as a whole are insanely expensive. You can buy a pretty nice Jeep for the same price as a SxS. But disregarding price, I love the idea of a quiet vehicle to get out in the forest.
So you think a jeep and a SxS have the same use cases?
@@toddshreve There is certainly cross over between their uses. One is street legal in all 50 states, one is not. A SxS requires another vehicle to haul and tow it to the destination. Yes, a SxS can travel faster in some types of terrain, and is very inadequate in other types. My point is that a SxS is very expensive just for its base purchase price, not even including a tow vehicle and trailer required to make use of it.
@@Stuka87 I own a Kinetic and a gas Ranger. And have owned a Jeep. There is very little overlap for my use cases. I never tow them anywhere for example.
@@toddshreve I understand that there are those that use these more as a tool than a recreation vehicle. People that own ranches or larger amounts of land that need a way to get around to fence lines and such. But the majority of SxS are sold for recreational uses. Which was more in line with my first comment. If they are being used as a piece of equipment, then the price is not as much of an issue, as its more inline with having a tractor or the like.
@@Stuka87 Sure. But I have wheeled jeeps and side by sides and there is still no comparison. Jeeps are big, lumbering machines with terrible visibility and poor manauverability. And they don't fit on 10s of thousands of miles of OHV trails across the country. Once I got a SxS I kinda giggled at taking my jeep wheeling any more. Also, the vast majority of people who offload SxS have sport version of SxS. RZR for example of sticking to Polaris brand. Rangers are for pig farmers. And me, I guess
They need to make a 6 seater.
That's a 20k no 40k. I will never buy.
$40k damn thats insane
Dollar has inflated so much and nobody talking about it specifically media is in full silent mode and telling us 5% inflation
I feel We are like 200-400%inflation
Pretty sad that a nearly 30kwh battery only gets you 80 miles. My Rav4 Prime has a 18kwh battery and weighs 4600 lbs and is still good for 50 miles.
F that price.
The gas are already overpriced. This is just insanity.
Cfmoto uforce 1000xl 1000cc 6-seater only 15k, so that would be a no for me on the Kinetic
$40k-no
$4k- yes
Bean counter lost their beans
No, next question.
Not for 40k
40k is outrageous
The majority of side by sides are overpriced for what they are and their capabilities.
For you perhaps. But if they were overpriced broadly speaking, they would not sell. And yet, using Polaris' most recent earning statement from Q2 2024, the Off Road division of Polaris sold $1,534,000,000 worth of machines. Yes, that's billions.
@@toddshreve Smart people buy them for the tax breaks Todd. Other people buy them because they see the smart people buy them, but they can't afford it and get leveraged up to their ears in debt and monthly payments. That doesn't make it a good product for the average joe.
@@catalystcorp I am curious about this tax break thing. How does it work?
@@toddshreveYou'd need to have a business and have the business buy it as a tool for a job site.
Camera man needs a bit of training for better shots and not cutting off everything we need to be seeing. Thank you.
No.
I don't understand the 1 wheel drive.
It's called "turf mode" and is for driving on grass, driveways, etc. so it doesn't tear up the ground. Most ATVs and UTV don't have that mode and when you turn a tight circle, they have to drag one tire and it tears up the ground. Turf mode eliminates that. It works really well. I wish my ATVs had it because when I do work around the yard, the grass and gravel driveway get torn up.
It's not 1wd. It's 2wd with an open (but lockable) rear diff.
Bro a gas Polaris is already a waste of money, sheesh. You can buy a jeep for less than this thing.
I wouldn't pay 5k for it so does that answer your question?
Nope. Leave it on the lot!
Maybe a 4xe type road and trail vehicle is better for now.
Given I just bought a brand new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon for $41k, no. Absolutely not. No, no, no, non-yes, NO.
I like it!! 👍🏿
Absolutely skipped over the insane price. Who would spend that much for a stripped down large battery side by side??
Great ideal but cost to much. I hate the sound of my SXS but not for this cost.
Id purchase one for 20k...40k is just ridiculous
They will sell the hell out of these, to park services, colleges, city governments and municipalities to replace their old cheaper gas powered utility vehicles. Because it’s electric, almost twice as much, and they spend other people’s money.
We have these at my work and they absolutely suck, if you buy one for 40k your insane
For 40k you could get a used 4 doors EV.. I mean this is too expensive 😬
Roman you need to get into the gym my friend. It is your choice on how long you live. Let’s go!
Thanks for the review. This thing looks like a turd for that kind of money. When CF Moto inevitably copies this and sells it for a more realistic $15K, I might be interested.
For $20k, awesome. 40? Non-starter
Those things are so loud and obnoxious, will be great when battery price comes down and these become cheap.
NO I wouldn't !
So a golf cart?
Ya, totally. With 110 HP, 14" of ground clearance, 4wd, 1,250 pound bed capacity, 2,500 lb towing capacity, power steering, and navigation via 4G cellular radio. Pretty much identical I'd say.
A $40k golf cart. I bought a Chevy Bolt EUV for $30k that can do everything Todd above mentioned except for the 4WD - *but* it can go out of town on the highway, and has 250 miles of range lol.
@@catalystcorp I actually own one. A Kinetic can do things your Bolt can't do. And the reverse is also true. And this is true between a golf cart and a Kinetic. Saying one is the other is just simple and ignorant. I tow a 5x8 trailer load of wood up a muddy road so steep you can barely walk up it with my Kinetic (and my other gas Ranger too). And winch stumps out of the ground. And tow a boat down a narrow rutted up trail through 2 feet of water to the river. Does your Bolt do these things? lol, no.
@@catalystcorp Did you really just compare a damn Chevy Bolt to a purpose built offroad machine? lmao you're not very bright are you..
Plug it into a current bush 🤣
Along comes CF Moto selling them for $20K and suddenly your up side down in your $40K 4WD Polaris golf cart.
🤔
I wonder IF anybody knows it costs a quarter of the retail price to build anything electric.
ICE costs half of the retail price to build.
People love getting ripped off.
BYD will make this for $9K usd
Just buy a used chevy bolt and throw a lift kit on it. You'd still have 25k left haha
Yet again, the camera work is TERRIBLE....
NO
Nope. I’ll stick with my 1000 premium for the farm. 16k is already too much
No
I wouldn’t take this if they gave it to me.
Umm you can buy a used very nice off road vehicle for this money. Several toyota, ford, jeep, etc options
If you have $40K to waste on a battery toy then you are part of the problem with environmentalism. You may have a niche in an industrial environment, you can hose a big Corporation all you want, but the average consumer make Polaris look greedy.
No way would i pay 40,000 for that or any gas machine.
Stupid price -- for this amount you can get a Vanderhaul Brawley.
