This video represents some of the last housekeeping we need to do before we reinstall the motor in the frame. We have videos showing you the clutch installation and the top end rebuild, but this video dives a little deeper into installing the kickstarter and the water pump, which all happen around the right crankcase cover that also surrounds the clutch. We’ll start by reassembling the kickstarter, which is really just a couple of parts and a spring. Then we’ll move to the water pump.
The CRF450R water pump assembly requires removing the old bearing and seals first. Then, we’ll install a new impeller in the pump along with its shaft. With that done, this is the point where we can install the clutch basket, which we address more thoroughly in another video. We’ll wrap it up by installing the right crankcase cover and the water pump itself.
