The beautiful harmonics are also a product of their inventive "Quasi Long-Tailed Pair Phase Inverter" design, which offers gain that preferences the higher frequencies due to the 0.0047 cathode bypass cap. And then... they couple the phase inverter with the finals via a 0.01 cap, which will also strip off the lower frequencies, plus the elimination of the "grid-stopper" resistors that would commonly be found on the audio grid for the 6973 power tubes. Blocking Distortion tends to occur with lower frequencies and since the "24" uses higher value caps (0.0047, 0.01) throughout the audio chain, which preferences the higher frequencies, blocking distortion is not an issue and the grid-stoppers are left out which also contributes to the "24's" jangle. Also worth noting, is the fact that the "24" doesn't have any "negative feedback," which will also contribute to its' dynamic behavior. I've built 2 of the "24" circuits before, one with EL84's and the other with 6V6's, with great results, proving that the unique phase inverter is a large part of the "24's" voicing and tone. I'm currently working on a 24 clone that is using (4) EL34's for the finals with a Mercury Magnetics output transformer. I'm pretty sure that it's going to sing like Janis Joplin when I'm done with it...
what a chilling demo at the end... I wanted it to continue forever ... That's really relaxing, chilling, positive, heavenly ... Loved it Lance! Thanks a lot!
Just got my the Supro 1600 Supreme and it's just amazing. The tone I've always looked for and now I have it. If you want a great tube amp get a Supro. Also, they take pedals great. Great plugin and play amps.
Lance, which one is your favorite? I like the Coronado but I already have a Fender Custom Vibrolux Reissue. However, I do have a Blues Jr with the Bill M mods and I think the 1624T blows it away! Looking at getting the BJ off my hands and put it on Craigslist.
They call it a 24 watt.. not very likely.. i have seen picture of the gut of the amp and i see a large 250r resistor between the 6973 tubes.. this indicates that it is cathode biased and you will get a maximum of 17W at 4% distortion if you push the tubes hard..
You should do a video of the Supro Dual Tone + Tele + The Fuzz to see how close you can get to the LZ1 sound. Frankly, I think it sounds awesome just as you've done it. However, I'm thinking the whole Supro charge has been fueled by that particular tone (even though they are capable of other cool tones too).
They make about 10 different models, a lot of which have spring verb. That's one of the signature Supro sounds. They put the reverb tank at a different spot in the circuit than Fender does, which gives it a unique tone/feel. I forgot where in line specifically the reverb is. I'm pre-Coffee at the moment.
Buy 3 of them?!? I wish I had $3600 to spend on amps :p But seriously, 1200 bucks for a made in USA amps is definitely a good deal. Competitively priced with Fender re-issues. I think I'd take this over a Fender DR. I think if I got one though I'd have to order at least a dozen power tubes along with it. No telling if those things will disappear sometime in the near future.
mechmat12345 Shit,I bought the dual tone and it is all it says, CRANKED. Perfect for the studio. And smaller venues. Awhile back I bought a fender super Sonic twin. Ha , discontinued. I thought I was going to get the next do everything. $$$.!!! Just under$3'000. Got rid of it ,big lose. Now I have a Supro dual tone, it is my everything amp. It Love's my pedals, simple, loud, liquid chime. Volume controlled beauty, over the top mayhem. WTF do you want?
Sounds amazing. What are you using for reverb? It would be great to not need any pedals, since tremolo and overdrive are my main effects, anyway. I will still want a little reverb, though.

How often do you have to replace the dilithium crystals? Can you substitute the NOS Chinese NCC-1701 crystals instead?
that's what I was gonna say.
Did you ever get that amp done?
what a chilling demo at the end... I wanted it to continue forever ... That's really relaxing, chilling, positive, heavenly ... Loved it Lance! Thanks a lot!
Just got one of these used. I can't wait until it's delivered. I enjoyed your review and hope I sound as good as you one day.

the tone and playing on that final jam has probably increased Supro's stock value by at least a couple of percent
Man that stuff you started playing at he 3:50 mark was buttery goodness. I'm buying either this one or the Thunder bolt.
ONE OF THE BEST COMBOS I EVER HEARD.

Awesome demo. It sounds like you have a little reverb on. What is giving you the reverb?
Mark De Souza the amp have a built in tremolo function
@@tonytouchzz He asked about reverb.
Nice playing! If you had to choose between the Black Magick, Dual Tone, or Thunderbolt Plus which would you prefer? Thanks 🙏
Great demo Lance ! Thanks !

Incredible price? 2k is alot of cash
The reverb makes me think these things should have a spring reverb too

+Brad Carroll It's before the trem circuit, not after like Fender does.
Sir, you are one awesome player!
Nice response, dynamics!
I've been meaning to ask you for quite some time now, what is the tuning you are using in most of your video's ? Sounds great
Come on Lance, tell us about your tuning!

dave from pigtronix is behind supro amps? really? any more information?
He's in the Sweetwater video demo for this amp.
That's about all I know.

I would bet it's the studio verb added on the track via pro tools or whatever he's got churning back there
why didnt page do this himself?
he single handedly made this amp unobtainable
he must be kicking himself
Les Paul at 5.41
