FTDI USB Convertor Driver Fix

- FTDI some time back started bricking counterfeit FTDI chips unfortunately some of use have bought FTDI adapters thinking they were legit only to have them not work correctly.
After the initial backlash of the bricking FTDI decided to no longer brick counterfeit devices instead they made the drivers no longer work correctly with them so while the driver will load and everything looks like it should work it will not.
To resolve this problem we need to downgrade the FTDI drivers to a older version that does not behave this way. Below is a link to the older version drivers that work just fine.

+Juanamo FPV Yep its very frustrating if you don't know what it going on because the adapter looks like its working when it isn't. I had a few head banging on desk days myself before I figured out the issue.
+ModifiedRC I tried the whole process. I get the same Arduino error messages and the light on the adapter is solid red but when I go into MProg everything seems fine, as in I have product i.d 6001 as it should be. So I'm back to square one

downloaded the same driver that you given in description but not showing when i browse please help!
My devices don’t work as you have described. Do you still have the 2.10 certified drivers? I spent most of yesterday fighting with the time out errors to no avail! Thank you very much for posting this solution.
This is likely to be only a temporary fix since win10 now forces automatic updates. Which means you will have to do this all again when FTDI release new drivers. What I did was to modify the ini files with bogus future dates and revision numbers. This fools the update service into ignoring the update since it sees a newer version is already installed. Ultimately the best solution is to either get a real FTDI converter or to choose a functionally similar converter which uses a different chip like the CP2010 or the CH340. As a general recomendation do not buy anything from China with anything purporting to be using an FTDI USB-serial chip
I bought two diffferent Adapters and four different bluetooth modules and never was able to get them to work. Maybe this is why I did not get it to work?
Hey thanks for the video. I have a slightly different problem and am wondering if you can help? When I plug in the FTDI card to the USB port comes up under other devices. If I install the serial converter driver first then it shows up under usb serial converter but nothing shows up under com ports. I can't seem to be able to assign a port to the usb serial converter. Help?

I can't find the ftdi any where on my computer even after installing all drivers

it doesnt push the data, i updated drivers tho :(
windows has said an optimal driver already installed and wont let me update grrrrrrrrrrrrrr ........... sourcing a pre-flashed osd now
+Aron Gatt You have to install the driver manually exactly like i show in the video otherwise it will not downgrade to the older version.
yep , its what I'm doing not letting me , usb serial converter not showing either
