Hi nice pattern i've a suggestion for the peacock herl, if the rats tail was left on you can twist the thread and peacock herl together for added strength, just a suggestion...
Superb especially the peacock herl rear body who would of thought of doing that ,top dropper fly if I ever saw one . Would it work on still water with a slow retrieve do you think also theres a fewspiders out there using Water Hen and Coot top wing feathers have you ever used them for the spider design Thankyou Barry excellent quality again
Excellent Spider configuration and unusual to dub a peacock herl on around the base , do you think this would work on still water as you say for river fishing and if so how would you fish it , long leader top dropper slow jerky retrieve maybe? as I have never used a spider fly but intend to this year but not sure what method to use.Excellent tying Barry and I see you use Marc Petitjean tools in most of your fly tying ,very nice,a bit overpriced possibly but so is a Bentley in my opinion but look what you get ,thanks again
That is a great way of doing spider hackle. Tying bench on Monday that will be getting experimented with. Thanks.
Merci Marc! Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I use it on some patterns but not on all...
Nice tie, I hadn't seen that before.
Nasty! I am going to try that w/ red thread and red Peacock herl.
Go for it!

Beautiful.
Interesting choice of hook pattern for a spider, Barry - any particular thought process behind your choice?

Hi Stuart, spiders are traditionally used in running water and fished on the swing, but pulled through the surface should also work as well.
Just had a senior moment realizing I had commented on this 2 years ago ;-00,blame the pandemic and Trump
No problem Stuart...
