Different! Thanks, Barry.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet ty . Tight lines🪰🦗🐜!!!!
Thank you.
Reminds me a lot of My Grandfathers Stump Stranger, main difference is length {Tired on a long shank}, and front fray trimmed to hook bend length so would swim when soaked.
Good to know!
Amazing pattern!! Looks like a deer fly or horsefly from this area!
Thank you.
Indeed a 1st class pattern. I'm also going to tie up a few on a size 8 and even 6, I want to try them out for steelhead (use it like a bomber) in late summer and the fall. Barry, thank you again.
Thanks Ira, yes I have heard that they work really well for Steelhead in larger sizes.
This is such a sweet fly! Very involved tie. I'm going to hate to lose one of these!
A nice pattern indeed Nicole, Its all about proportions, spend time on getting them right. Good luck.
Beautifully done! I am not sure I have the patience for this one. I will give it a go come spring. The only rule about my tying is, no deer(or elk) hair in the house. Makes too much mess. I don't have a dedicated tying room. All the best and thanks for sharing Sean
My dog sleeps on her deer skin every day...and yeah, it goes everywhere...))))
Barry It’s the first time I've seen someone else use the double hair wrap (my term for it) other then me, I figured it’s been around but somehow I haven't seen anybody else use it. I’m not arrogant enough to thing I invented it but your using it does at least validate that it’s an actually “thing” thanks🙂
Hi Dave, thanks. Yes I have been using and teaching the 'double hair wrap' as you call it, (I'v never given it a name) for I don't know how many years now, but it is in my book from 2010. As with many useful techniques, I probably have seen it somewhere or stumbled on it by accident! But a very useful technique it is indeed for deer hair.
Interesting pattern. Looks great! Thanks Bender.
Thanks Paul, it works a treat when pulled through the surface.
Brilliant pattern. I'll be tying these using some red deer hair, off an old stag i shit years ago...thanks for the tutorial. Regards from New Zealand.
Thanks Blair, I hope that that is a typo, for your own sake...
Never shit deers!
Great job and instruction!
Thanks Jim.
Perfect work! Nice
A corker Barry 👍🎣😎
First class pattern
This is awesome. Looks like a cicada to me.
Thanks Nicholas, I guess if you tied it large enough it would work as a cicada.
Just WOW, u make things look so simple, again my hat is off to you, guess I’ll be asking for gift certificates for my birthday to my favorite suppliers to update my supplies
Thanks Larry, good luck and choose your materials wisely!
wow looks great
Beautiful 👍 im going to give this one a go🙂
Thanks Pierre. Have fun!
Barry you are a phenomenal tier, any you share some great tying tips Thanks
Hi Mark, sorry I just got your comment! Thanks for watching there are more to come.
It is very nice and simple.
But sometimes fish eat very bad looking items (just colours or smell from chicken lether) . Remember this. My neighbour make very bad looking items, but he catches fish a lot 5 kg fish per 4 hours. He is champion on the river .
Thank you Rubinco.
My favorite fly to use but difficult to tie
Not that difficult, goes quickly once you have tied a few dozen.
Excellent ❤️ nice work thanks
Thanks Miroslav.
wow nice job great vid
Thanks Mark
I think it looks like a beetle and will be effective in southern Indiana.
I'm sure that it would work as a beetle.
Dude!
Awesome fly. What kind of vise do you use?
Hi Brady, thanks. th-cam.com/video/x9WskBbooaU/w-d-xo.html vice link
this is a very very cool fly.. I love this fly. I have tied a few of them < J
Excellent Jeff, let me know how you get on with them.
This is quite an unusual pattern. I like it, will at some point try thing a few to try. Do you think there would be any advantage to putting a coat or two of UV epoxy on the shellback to help trap air underneath and increase the signature of the fly?
Thanks Kerry, yes its a great pattern, Not sure, it will probably make it sink!
@@Thefeatherbender I will let you know Sir! 😃
I like these flies but i always have a problem with them turning into helicopters and twist up my leader
Try making the wings a little shorter.
So, you said you fish with this stripping in?
Hi Fly life, yes like a adult caddis fly.
what brand of Dieneir do you use
Hi Matthew, there is only one brand of Dyneema, but you can also use GSP thread.
