Hi Davie not spoke for a while thanks for awe they spider patterns and all other patterns your a great guy to learn from you've done us all proud thanks
Another great informative video. I thoroughly enjoy your style of presentation and most of all that you tie fishing flies, flies to catch fish, not flies to catch the angler. Your videos are invariably less than ten minutes in length, proving the simplicity of most of your patterns. I tie and use many of your patterns on the rivers in North Yorkshire. Many thanks for the inspiration and great tips. Mark
Simple, beautiful, and absolutely amazing. I could watch these videos all day everyday and never tire of them. If you ever come to the US to do shows or talk, please let me know. I have recently added meeting you and getting an autograph to my personal bucket list. Wish you well, Damon Drake
Hi there, I'm new to fly tying but really enjoy watching the videos on your channel, can you maybe do a short video on the different types of feathers and their uses in fly tying?
Hi brakes4mice, Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.. I can't promise you but I will think about doing this. The problem is that there's so may feathers that can be used in fly tying and some feathers can be hard to find due to them not being available as many birds that we use are game and some are not in their country..If you need help finding materials then I would be happy to search for you and send links to help you out.. All the very best Davie...
Davie McPhail No worries on the delay. A lot of the specialty stores nearby where I live have a large variety of materials and it can be overwhelming when a beginner wants to begin fly tying with all the color choices available as well as their uses for prey representations. Thanks for the reply!
Hello Davey. Can you make tube fly of Gary jockscot? And what type of flies you recoment in Northen Sweden in end off june and start of july. Creetings from Finland.
Hi Davie.Having watched many of your videos I see you use 8/0 Uni-thread a lot. I also use it but am frustrated by it snapping or fraying then snapping. I've tried metal and ceramic bobbins and also waxing and not. Same outcome, sometimes several times durting the course of one fly. I don't feel I am using too much pressure. Any advice on reducing or stopping this happening. Regards.
Hi Jim, I had the same problems with fine thread breaking and traced it to excessive twist. Now, before starting, I pull a foot or so of thread from the bobbin and run it thru my fingers a couple of times to remove any twist. During the tying, I will occasionally untwist the thread (I'm right-handed so I spin the bobbin CCW). Rarely break a thread now and its usually because I touched the hook point if I do. Hope this helps. Hank
Hi Jim, I have attached a link to a video I made about adjusting your bobbin holder so that when you are tying the thread flows smoothly through it as this is one of the main reasons for the thread wearing on the one area and it not running smoothly from the bobbin so it's very important that you adjust the arms to allow this..I have though in the past had a bobbing holder that was so rough it wore the thread no matter what I did..I hope this is of some help to you and it's also worth doing what Hank said... I finally acquired a pair of woodcock wings. So I'll be giving this one a try. Great video as always, Davie.

Great pattern, beautifully tied. Thank you for sharing this.
Great tying. I like this pattern. We have a tace race rainbow trout fishery and the water is clear as glass, this looks like a perfect fly. Thanks!
Nice little fly Davie, bet that would be a good trout fly here on the little brooks and streams
Enjoy watching you tie, even though I can’t understand much of what your saying 😊
