    Great video. Timemore has so many hand grinders out now and they do not explain all the differences very well. Thanks to this video I now understand what makes the C3 ESP better for espresso. It's the dial!

  • @ssstbc

    the C3 ESP is well worth the money... just got one and compared to my old Hario Slim, it's like night and day. The experience of using it is incredible, the evenness of the grinding is amazing (it was sometimes like count the boulder with the Hario) and the cup (only V60 so far, espresso soon) has so much more clarity of flavour... mine was £85, 3x more than the Hario cost me... 20x better!

      @@ssstbc that could be the case but the Flair signaeture looks interesting. The problem is i have a huge and expensive espresso machine in my kitchen, i even bought custom handles in bird eye maple for it but i lost interest in espresso 10 years ago and the machine stands there just for the looks. I need to invest alot of money for a complete cleaning. I even have an expensive grinder from eureka but Amazon vine offered me the Timemore C3 ESP pro, so i had to buy an espresso machine and in my mind the dedica 685 is a perfect combination, its a budget machine and fits to a manual grinder because of the price. You can get both Timemore and Dedica 685 for about 200 Euro which is amazing and you still make better espresso then the automatic espresso machines for 1000 Euro.
      The flair signature looks interesting, i can see me buying one because its a manual machine and dont need maintainance, no internal parts that needs to be cleaned and all that. I love the looks of my espresso machine but i dont want to invest the money for the big maintainance and ive heard the copper pipes are not good for your health and all that. A white falir signature and a white niche zero, that would be my choice.

    3CeSP is not readily available here. Would you say the C3s can also grind fine enough for Espresso? The video is not very clear on that point, is it merely the number of different settings or the level of granularity where the C3ESp is better?

      The burrs are the same throughout. As far as I understand, they all have the S2C 660 burr set. If you want to do espresso, get the C3 ESP PRO because the dial plate has far more clicks per rotation in order to get the right grind size. The C3S won’t be able to get the in-between grind sizes for dialling in your espresso shot even though it’s the same burrs inside

      Same burr set between C3, C3S, and C3 ESP, which is the S2C 660. Even though I only do pour overs at home, I ordered the ESP because I’ll be able to get more specific in dialling in my coffees. You’ll be fine doing pour over with the ESP - just follow the instructions for the grind size adjustments

  • @Windchoir
    @Windchoir ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I'm curious why they advertise this grind adjustment as a stepless one. Is it possible to grind between the clicks? I'm afraid that 12 steps are not enough for different roasts and kinds of coffee. Btw currently I'm using mokka and planning to buy a small drip coffee maker. Would i want finer settings for those?

    • @SamTheBattleshipp
      @SamTheBattleshipp ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would recommend you start out more course at first for a drip coffee maker to find the grind that the particular machine can handle. If it is too fine, the water will fill and overflow the basket. (I did that once) I use a pour over now and have mine set to a 14 setting on the C3 Pro Max so I would say try around 16? Main thing is not to over fill the basket like I did. 😅

    Hey, I really don't get the subtle differences here... Anyway, I own a C2. I think it's kinda outdated now. I'm considering to upgrade to C3 or C3s. I don't know how to choose. Or I should just buy an upgraded burr set which is S2C 660 38mm for my C2

    • @ducttaperulestheworl
      @ducttaperulestheworl ปีที่แล้ว

      I got a burrset upgrade from Aliexpress way before Timemore offers theirs. Manage to grind beans for actual espresso use. (4 minutes slow and tiring 15g Espresso grind)
      I guess if you don't mind the common mods and shims needed to do for the alignment on your original C2, then it's a budget upgrade.
      You do need to spend some time to align the upgrade burrs though since the C2 is famous for misalignment even on stock.
      I can't see myself buying a C3s after getting that burrset upgrade. If I ever needed one new grinder, I'd jump to Kingrinder K6 or an electric grinder to shave off 4 minutes of my morning grinding 15g beans on espresso setting.
      But I would recommend getting the C3s if you have no grinder to begin with since it has better alignment now

      Yo tengo un C2 y actualicé a rebabas de 7 nucleos y la placa de 30 pasos, lo compré todo por Aliexpress, el cambio fue incleible, antes usaba 10 click para espresos y ahora uso 24 click para 18gr me demoro menos de 40 segundos, antes me demoraba casi 2 minutos

      C3: plastic interior
      C3S/C3 ESP: interior upgraded to milled aluminum
      All use the S2C 660 burr set.
      Pro = the folding handle.
      If the burrs are a drop in replacement for your current C2 burrs, it might be smarter to just upgrade your burrs to the S2C 660 set
