I've been meaning to play bleed bow for ages, and now that snipe exists as a skill gem and they're adding some other neat stuff for bleed I felt like now was the time, awesome to see an in-depth high quality guide like this on it.
I've loved bleed bow since I pushed it to the max in delirium, but I've missed it ever since. I'm super excited to league start this and get back to those pops and challenger charges for a league start.
I will start with bleed bow glad as well (maybe switch to champion SST later, never tried that before). Imo going for all bleed chance nodes early and chance to bleed support in split arrow and going for arena challenger first gives you so much easy movement speed during leveling that i think its superior if you know how to get some damage. Some flat physical damage on gear (prefix on rings, amulett, gloves, implicit on quiver) and a halfway decent bow gives you enough damage to kill white/blue mobs without stopping to much and enough to kill the campaign bosses. The onslaught chance on the tree helps as well for more. Getting fast early on is such a big quality of life that its superior to more dmg/bleedsplosions (at least for me). For all the people saying bleed bow is shit: no one forces you to play it.

Wanted to quickly point a few extra things I forget to mention in the video: 1. We have an Enduring Cry with Call to Arms setup early on until we switch to better gear 2. I've also re-tailored some of the gear for the Early Game set-up to be a lot more league-start friendly 3. We turn Pride off instead of Herald of Purity + War Banner after we add a Determination to our set-up as we need the -Mana Cost rings to run it without Mana issues PoB has been updated For realistic barebones gear: Recalculated EHP: 27k w/ 13.7k Phys EHP Puncture DPS: 1.47m DPS
Thank you for the league start guide! For your endgame setup, how do you craft your bow? You grab a fracture bow with a high tier increased phys roll and use Essence of Contempt on it? Or is it cheaper to grab a fractured bow with the added phys and use Jagged Fossils until you hit the increased phys?
Thats one way to do it, you can harvest reforge phys too on a fractured base or you can also go for a synthesis base if you have big money, I'll see if I can drop a video regarding crafting gear for the build but generally you either try snipe a good rolled one in the first few days or craft with fractured mods

Any thought of running a puncture set up for clear as well? puncture - gmp - chain - sadism - visc prodj - brutality- with the base bleed of 8 seconds to leverage sadism support more? and can double up with lab enchant
It's a potential option but you are running an extra gem link to achieve Split Arrows inbuilt projectiles, it will also only be 5 projectiles compared to Split Arrow's 8 (9 if you have Level 21), the clear would be suboptimal in my opinion
Curious if you think the skill works without snipe? I had used assailum i think back in heist, but eventually dropped it once i got a better bow. Though back then we had the 100% damage elder mod. I find standing still to be a little risky in some of the boss fights.

Haven't considered Crimson Dance as a real build path since it requires so much investment into stacking bleeds rather than having 1 large bleed, its kinda the opposite of the Bleed Bow playstyle in hitting and moving, could try something with a Barrage support potentially to quickly stack bleeds?
Just want to mention something, you're going a bit way overboard with the ammount of reservation efficiency you have overral to run everything comfortably. You might perhaps want to adjust some of those things in the POB. I think i've saved at least 4+ skills points plus gearing options for more straight up more damage or defense/life, QoL. You have a lot of options there to work around it to make the build a lot better, just by toning down the ammount of reservation. I think i removed the enlighten and the reservation cluster and still had enough mana for everything with malevolence and all rest ticked in
Our end-game setup requires us to run Pride, Malevolence, Determination, Flesh and Stone, Herald of Purity and Warbanner on top of an Aul's Uprising to reserve an additional 50% Aura, having all the reservation efficiency we can helps greatly in picking up all these auras comfortably, the new Tattoo's are also a good choice if you want to save on gear
@@JayTX Yes i know, i saw through all the end game setup and saw all the auras. Not bitching or anything mind you. Just saying players can at very least unspec out of the reservation cluster without any problems there, cause at that point in gear they should have already have more then enough reduced mana costs for both setups to run it comfortably around 70 mana or just a tid bit less. Also, as someone that has been playing bleed a lot, I'll say you might want to think about investing more in bleed duration, specially when using ryslatha's and puncture together. and snipe just pulls that stat even further up As i think you might know, PoB doesn't tell you everything, and ingame what is actually happening is a lot different and trust me you do want to invest more wherever you can in bleed duration, be it jewels, gear, clusters for this build. It will make a shit ton of difference.
Freeze/Chill: Use the Brine King Pantheon and use Divine Vessels to get all the bonuses Bleed: Armour Mastery - If our Armour on our Helmet is higher than its Evasion we are immune to Bleed. Poison: Minor Pantheon to reduce Poison Duration and later we get 50+% Chaos Resistance Ignite: Switch to this Minor Pantheon if doing Exarch Altars, otherwise Ignite isn't an issue if we have capped resistances + decent life pool and recovery (Enduring Cry w/ Call to Arms and Life Leech) Corrupting Blood: Get implicit on one of our Jewels
hey! i used to run this build in delirium and expedition league! and i loved it do you think that bleed bow can be possibly stronger this league then in past leagues?
It'll be hard without the Crucible Tree mod, but bleed has a DoT cap so the limit is still the same, with the new Tattoo System I can see it potentially being easier to hit that limit quicker and with less investment
It should be fine for legions given you have enough damage on your Split Arrows setup to easily trigger your Bleed Explosions, with Challenger Charges and front loading your damage with Sadism it should be fairly easy, I used this build to farm Expedition as my strategy early to great success and I imagine Blight/Breach/Abyss would all be viable choices for league content
hey jax, thank you a lot for this guide. i want to play a bow build this league , so i thought about LA arrow deadeye. however as you know, LA is only a mapper and not able to kill ubers without investing 50-100 divine, but i dont want to play a 2nd character and play a bosser as well. so realistically : do you think the build is capable with a decent amount of investment to be a "bosser" as well? thank you a lot. sorry if its mentioned in the video, right now i am watching it but still wanted to ask.

I am trying to use the new impale and bleed combos out there with impale totems leeching for me also. I went champion and got the slayer brutal leech note. Wondering what you think, isnt the mastery 5% bleed multi per impale bad? 35-40% bleed multi sounds good. On top of it all those impales lower phys defences
I think its viable as a idea but scaling into both impale and bleed might be difficult, you'll have to get impale chance/effect on top of capping bleed chance, also Bleed doesn't care about the physical hit of the attack to do its most effective damage whilst Impale needs a high-hit for it to be worth it
@@JayTX you can guarantee bleed with the siege kinetecism. Then impale you just need the impale it self not scaling it. So something like barrage woth impale chance is enough :) you dont really scale the impale that much
Hello Can you please help me with 2 questions that i have? First is , how is this build compared to cf champ build? And can i start as champion with bleed bow , using gloves with explosions ( because champ overall better than glad imo ) ? Thank you for your content and hard work!
I haven't personally tried CF Champ but have played a CF KB Glad a long time ago, if its anything like that, this build will have a much better time with Single Target with our Puncture/Snipe combo versus using Reap . You can start this as a Champ but you will be much slower initially without the Challenger Charges and have access to less early game power until you can afford the endgame upgrades, I have an earlier video about Bleed Bow for Champion which I agree is the better Ascendancy for the End-game (i.e. Fighting Uber Pinnacles, Invitation Etc)
@@JayTX Actually thank you very much for response. I tried bleed bow and had some issues, that i think normal players will face during early stages. You did great and huge job on this build and please, do not consider what i am gonna say disrespect to it, just wanna point out some issues as normal player. First of all, lvling experience wasn't good, low dmg , low defenses and i have decent experience with lvling characters ( playing for long time with several builds per league). Second thing is, snipe mechanic and proximity shield. Snipe is kinda clunky to use and need actual experience with it to play without problems. Also defenses are not good enough for bleed bow at league start scenario for type of build where you need stand and channel something, imo. I think people need to know some of this issues before trying bleed bow glad to not ruin their league start experience. You maybe said it all in your previous videos i dont know, so sharing it with you. Thank you again for your amazing build and work!
1. Gem Links, we can't slot in any additional skill set-ups, our gear is already at the limit with our Auras, Manya-forge Setup and Utility skills 2. Corrupting Fever is a spell and scales well with Gem Levels, it doesn't benefit from alot of the Bleed DoT multipliers we pick up in the build

Leech is normally based off the amount of damage of your hit, if you're not hitting very hard (i.e. if you have deadly ailments) you won't be leeching much. While leveling try not to have too much mana reserved, use only Pride, Herald of Purity and War Banner until you get your Merciless Lab right before Act 10, then you add in Flesh and Stone. Also make sure you have the Life mastery that makes Skills cost 30% life which helps makes mana costs less Later on you use -Mana cost ring crafts from unveiling Elreon jewellery to help with mana cost.
would prefer to play a more tanky Lacerate bleed build though, would you suggest Lacerate for a more tanky playstyle or is bleed bow just better in all areas?
They are totally different builds. You probably want crimson dance with lacerate. If you want to build a similar single target 1 stack of bleed build perforate/earthquake with warcry stacking is probably the best bet
Can't speak too much on Tornado Shot champion as I'm not familiar with the build, this build will be quite comfortable legions due to our inbuilt Bleed Explosions and challenger charges with grant alot of QoL
1. Assailium can be used early when you just start and don't have 6-link, you switch out of it later 2. Expedition is decent, Legion is good too, build can do all content decently, its up to your personal preference
Edit: I was wrong, you can target farm it with The Offspring Divination Card. The card drops from the boss of Infested Valley You'll have to try snipe one early on, otherwise a rare belt or stygian vise with good life + resists will do fine until you can get one. No way to target farm it unfortunately

I am not sure Sadism is worth it, taking out your 6 th link in your bleed bow pob from last league and adding the sadism gem text to config and using split arrow, you only gain about 15% dps but bleed duration went from 5 seconds to . 7 seconds. Your cruelty 6th link was about 21% more bleed dps.

The point of sadism is not to increase your overall dps output, but to frontload the damage. When a single bleed does 200% of a mobs hp its gonna take 2.5s to kill it with a 5s bleed duration, but if your bleed duration is .7s its going to die almost instantly. Sadism is a QoL & defensive support more than anything imo, it might be a bait to use it before your damage is good enough though.
@ yeah that’s the intended point, but if your dps only goes 15 percent it’s not the huge change you are looking for. Dps is the rate, and his old pob had so much more dot multi that the 79 percent did very little

@@cz85 you're right i was looking at the wrong lines in PoB. Also stuff like ryslathas and that new gem has support in pob now for weighed bleed calculations, which actually works against a lower bleed duration since you wont have a chance to refresh the bleed and hit a higher roll.
It might be a bit sketchy for deeper delving since the playstyle is a DoT build and damage isn't instant, you'll have to see if you can offscreen packs before they get chance to attack you in Delve if I had to guess
I'm suprised that you didnt recommend champion ascendency to get the adrenaline node and respect at the end of campain. It's probably not noob friendly.
Great video! A small tip regarding Manaforged Arrows if you didn't know: If you link that setup with a Lifetap support, Manaforged will actually trigger (for free) every time it's off cooldown instead of just every time you spend enough mana with your other skills. Given that your ascendancy already maims on hit, I would replace the maim support you have. Set up this way, you are now free to remove the 30% mana as life mastery if you want to use -mana cost to zero out the cost of your other skills.
@@JayTX understood however initially isn't it a nice aura to have since it increases our damage? Like through act 1 and 2, with the leech node applied, isnt it helpful?
@@brunocarreira8651I think with Herald of Purity and Flesh and Stone it makes your mana pool a bit sketchy, so adding an additional aura makes it a bit tight, if you can fit the Banner in mana-wise absolutely run it early :)
@@JayTX would have to test it but i think it is possible, initially using a mana flask is certainly mandatory so, losing an extra 10% for reservation doesn't feel like too much for me at the beginning. I intended on doing either a bleed bow or sst bleed glad so i appriciate the build and subscribed for follow-up :).
@@JayTX also, what is ur opinion about incorporating corrupting fever? Since we scale mostly throw physical damage, wouldn't it help with bossing as well by applying all the stacks fast with rain of arrows?
I've heard from some people have started this in SSF and Ruthless, gearing is generally pretty smooth since its largely rares and self-crafted gear, focus on upgrading your bow constantly for a higher and higher phys roll and you'll have a good time
I'll be running it at league start on my Twitch channel, will put my money where my mouth is, it worked really smoothly for me last league so I wouldn't call it bait at all

Interesting guide but it's aimed for POE accustomed people. You talk 15 mins about configs and calculations and all that stuff that me, a new player, does not give a damn about. I needed a guide on what gear i need, what links i need, when do i need to swap, what order do i swap, what damage am i looking for when i swap. The important things for a GUIDE. This has almsot none of this besides the skill tree. But alas, thank you for this.
I did it last league as a starter and I'm guessing Crucible rares/mobs are a much tougher mechanic than the 3.22 league, new support gems make this build even better than it was last league, only real concern I can see is people competing to buy the same gear on League Start if this video gets traction
How do you balance mana cost? Do you run a slight mana pool for charging snipe and than -21 total reduced non channeling? Or do you run -9 channeling and depend on mana leech? Would you recommend %reduced mana cost on tree?
The ideal set-up is double -non channeling mana on rings and then on the tree you grab Tireless (and the nodes leading to it) for reduced skill cost, you also have the life mastery - Skills cost Life instead of 30% Mana Cost, and finally grab Phys leeched as mana on a jewel or piece of gear

You swap stances when engaging bosses versus general mapping to keep your challenger charges up

I am about to reroll my league starter 18 min before league drops....
Looks really good. My problem is that I play SSF and getting the clusters and so on could be tough :D.
SSF is a bit tough to scale the build into very end game, you can also get away with two-handed clusters/bow clusters, whatever you can find and craft
Nice build. I was fighting OAK for 30 MINUTES. Very good skill for acts.
i recommend trying to get an ok elemental bow until first lab the main problem with bleed bow is the damage pre first lab is terrible
I used a 150pdps bow until act 9. Just need to use snipe on tough monsters I did die a couple times in campaign but not because of lack of damage

Yeah Crimson fits Bladestorm much better than bleedbow

how are you handling elemental ailments? pob shows 100% to everything but i can't work out how u've managed that.

hey! i used to run this build in delirium and expedition league! and i loved it do you think that bleed bow can be possibly stronger this league then in past leagues?
It'll be hard without the Crucible Tree mod, but bleed has a DoT cap so the limit is still the same, with the new Tattoo System I can see it potentially being easier to hit that limit quicker and with less investment

It should be fine for legions given you have enough damage on your Split Arrows setup to easily trigger your Bleed Explosions, with Challenger Charges and front loading your damage with Sadism it should be fairly easy, I used this build to farm Expedition as my strategy early to great success and I imagine Blight/Breach/Abyss would all be viable choices for league content
hey jax, thank you a lot for this guide. i want to play a bow build this league , so i thought about LA arrow deadeye. however as you know, LA is only a mapper and not able to kill ubers without investing 50-100 divine, but i dont want to play a 2nd character and play a bosser as well. so realistically : do you think the build is capable with a decent amount of investment to be a "bosser" as well? thank you a lot. sorry if its mentioned in the video, right now i am watching it but still wanted to ask.

I am trying to use the new impale and bleed combos out there with impale totems leeching for me also. I went champion and got the slayer brutal leech note. Wondering what you think, isnt the mastery 5% bleed multi per impale bad? 35-40% bleed multi sounds good. On top of it all those impales lower phys defences
I think its viable as a idea but scaling into both impale and bleed might be difficult, you'll have to get impale chance/effect on top of capping bleed chance, also Bleed doesn't care about the physical hit of the attack to do its most effective damage whilst Impale needs a high-hit for it to be worth it
@@JayTX you can guarantee bleed with the siege kinetecism. Then impale you just need the impale it self not scaling it. So something like barrage woth impale chance is enough :) you dont really scale the impale that much

Yes, Snipe gets faster the more attack speed we scale, this also includes how fast Stages charge up

I haven't personally tried CF Champ but have played a CF KB Glad a long time ago, if its anything like that, this build will have a much better time with Single Target with our Puncture/Snipe combo versus using Reap .
You can start this as a Champ but you will be much slower initially without the Challenger Charges and have access to less early game power until you can afford the endgame upgrades, I have an earlier video about Bleed Bow for Champion which I agree is the better Ascendancy for the End-game (i.e. Fighting Uber Pinnacles, Invitation Etc)
@@JayTX Actually thank you very much for response. I tried bleed bow and had some issues, that i think normal players will face during early stages. You did great and huge job on this build and please, do not consider what i am gonna say disrespect to it, just wanna point out some issues as normal player. First of all, lvling experience wasn't good, low dmg , low defenses and i have decent experience with lvling characters ( playing for long time with several builds per league). Second thing is, snipe mechanic and proximity shield. Snipe is kinda clunky to use and need actual experience with it to play without problems. Also defenses are not good enough for bleed bow at league start scenario for type of build where you need stand and channel something, imo. I think people need to know some of this issues before trying bleed bow glad to not ruin their league start experience. You maybe said it all in your previous videos i dont know, so sharing it with you. Thank you again for your amazing build and work!
I'm curious as to why you don't have a corrupting fever set-up. Can you tell me why?
1. Gem Links, we can't slot in any additional skill set-ups, our gear is already at the limit with our Auras, Manya-forge Setup and Utility skills
2. Corrupting Fever is a spell and scales well with Gem Levels, it doesn't benefit from alot of the Bleed DoT multipliers we pick up in the build

So I been leveling with this and its been good but the leech node I took seem to do nothing? I still have to use hp and mp potions to keep them up.
Leech is normally based off the amount of damage of your hit, if you're not hitting very hard (i.e. if you have deadly ailments) you won't be leeching much. While leveling try not to have too much mana reserved, use only Pride, Herald of Purity and War Banner until you get your Merciless Lab right before Act 10, then you add in Flesh and Stone. Also make sure you have the Life mastery that makes Skills cost 30% life which helps makes mana costs less
Later on you use -Mana cost ring crafts from unveiling Elreon jewellery to help with mana cost.

would prefer to play a more tanky Lacerate bleed build though, would you suggest Lacerate for a more tanky playstyle or is bleed bow just better in all areas?
They are totally different builds. You probably want crimson dance with lacerate. If you want to build a similar single target 1 stack of bleed build perforate/earthquake with warcry stacking is probably the best bet
this build or champion tornado shot will be better for early legions ?
Can't speak too much on Tornado Shot champion as I'm not familiar with the build, this build will be quite comfortable legions due to our inbuilt Bleed Explosions and challenger charges with grant alot of QoL

1. Assailium can be used early when you just start and don't have 6-link, you switch out of it later

Is there an easy way to get Ryslathas Coil? I noticed you have it in the Early Map setup
Edit: I was wrong, you can target farm it with The Offspring Divination Card. The card drops from the boss of Infested Valley
You'll have to try snipe one early on, otherwise a rare belt or stygian vise with good life + resists will do fine until you can get one. No way to target farm it unfortunately

I am not sure Sadism is worth it, taking out your 6 th link in your bleed bow pob from last league and adding the sadism gem text to config and using split arrow, you only gain about 15% dps but bleed duration went from 5 seconds to . 7 seconds. Your cruelty 6th link was about 21% more bleed dps.
The point of sadism is not to increase your overall dps output, but to frontload the damage. When a single bleed does 200% of a mobs hp its gonna take 2.5s to kill it with a 5s bleed duration, but if your bleed duration is .7s its going to die almost instantly. Sadism is a QoL & defensive support more than anything imo, it might be a bait to use it before your damage is good enough though.
@ yeah that’s the intended point, but if your dps only goes 15 percent it’s not the huge change you are looking for. Dps is the rate, and his old pob had so much more dot multi that the 79 percent did very little
@@cz85 you're right i was looking at the wrong lines in PoB. Also stuff like ryslathas and that new gem has support in pob now for weighed bleed calculations, which actually works against a lower bleed duration since you wont have a chance to refresh the bleed and hit a higher roll.

Is this build good for delve 350+? Was wanting to try to farm my own aul's.
It might be a bit sketchy for deeper delving since the playstyle is a DoT build and damage isn't instant, you'll have to see if you can offscreen packs before they get chance to attack you in Delve if I had to guess

Great video! A small tip regarding Manaforged Arrows if you didn't know: If you link that setup with a Lifetap support, Manaforged will actually trigger (for free) every time it's off cooldown instead of just every time you spend enough mana with your other skills. Given that your ascendancy already maims on hit, I would replace the maim support you have. Set up this way, you are now free to remove the 30% mana as life mastery if you want to use -mana cost to zero out the cost of your other skills.
That's a cool Tech to know, if the build has enough spare sockets/links I think this can be really useful

Yeah, you don't run it early until you have the mana reservation nodes later on in the acts, thats why I have it listed under later acts

@@brunocarreira8651I think with Herald of Purity and Flesh and Stone it makes your mana pool a bit sketchy, so adding an additional aura makes it a bit tight, if you can fit the Banner in mana-wise absolutely run it early :)
@@JayTX would have to test it but i think it is possible, initially using a mana flask is certainly mandatory so, losing an extra 10% for reservation doesn't feel like too much for me at the beginning. I intended on doing either a bleed bow or sst bleed glad so i appriciate the build and subscribed for follow-up :).
@@JayTX also, what is ur opinion about incorporating corrupting fever? Since we scale mostly throw physical damage, wouldn't it help with bossing as well by applying all the stacks fast with rain of arrows?
Can't get 100% chance to bleed with a rain of arrows at the start reliably I'm just guessing , that's why split arrow?

I've heard from some people have started this in SSF and Ruthless, gearing is generally pretty smooth since its largely rares and self-crafted gear, focus on upgrading your bow constantly for a higher and higher phys roll and you'll have a good time

I needed a guide on what gear i need, what links i need, when do i need to swap, what order do i swap, what damage am i looking for when i swap. The important things for a GUIDE. This has almsot none of this besides the skill tree. But alas, thank you for this.

I did it last league as a starter and I'm guessing Crucible rares/mobs are a much tougher mechanic than the 3.22 league, new support gems make this build even better than it was last league, only real concern I can see is people competing to buy the same gear on League Start if this video gets traction

How do you balance mana cost? Do you run a slight mana pool for charging snipe and than -21 total reduced non channeling? Or do you run -9 channeling and depend on mana leech? Would you recommend %reduced mana cost on tree?
The ideal set-up is double -non channeling mana on rings and then on the tree you grab Tireless (and the nodes leading to it) for reduced skill cost, you also have the life mastery - Skills cost Life instead of 30% Mana Cost, and finally grab Phys leeched as mana on a jewel or piece of gear
@@JayTX I should mention I have been running rain if arrows mana cost is around 15. I prefer it for mapping imho
I miss when this actually didn't need assailum to do huge chunks of damage.
