    And also, thank you so much for sharing! I’d love to hear the other sounds on the disk. Curious what Fairlight was used on Intruder.

    Sorry to keep asking you questions on this but I can’t get MAME working. Is there any way to see what the sequence is or what the notes of the sequence are for each of the sounds in this file? I’m trying to understand rhythmically how the sequence works. It’s quite confounding, but if I could see the notes and try to recreate it in MIDI I feel like it could help me reconstruct the part. Thank you again for uploading this! Really cool insight.

      The MCL files are simple ASCII/PlainText files (except the *.PC). With the following program you can open them, also without losing the formatting:
      notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/
      To understand the single commands (BEAT, SPEED, ITERATION, etc.) you only need the MCL-User Manual, which you can download here:

      I've just found something and immediately thought of you. Apparently someone was already working on the MCL files from San Jacinto 11 years ago...

      @@B.ART-electro Wow, thank you so much for thinking of me! Where did you find this? I just downloaded it and only have a moment to look, but I can't wait to dive into this more closely. This is excellent! It would bring me so much joy to finally decode all the magic that is happening in that song.

    Whoa! How did you get ahold of this? I would kill for this disk 😂 are you running it through a Fairlight emulation?

      You don't have to kill to get this! The Peter Gabriel discs can be downloaded for free here:
      zine.r-massive.com/fairlight-cmi-iix-archive/
      I'm running the original Fairlight software (SYSTEM 4.5.20) for the CMI II/IIx. The Arcade emulator MAME does the emulation/simulation of the necessary hardware...

      @@B.ART-electro Amazing! Thank you so, so much for sharing. I was able to download it and load the .vc files in Arturia's CMI V and the .in files in QuasarBeach, but I'm not sure how to extract/access/open the .img files to get to the sequences short of getting MAME and tracking down the ROM. Seems fairly involved to compile MAME and get it running on an M1 Mac, which is what I'm working with. Any idea how to get the sequences short of doing that? If not, I'll have to just get through the MAME compiling process. Thank you again so much! Really great to get to play with these sounds.

      Here are the individual files from the PG disk images:
      we.tl/t-DibdwnvOfu
      MCL is not implemented in QasarBeach and the .RS files are only loaded incorrectly/incompletely. Whether and to what extent the Arturia CMI V plugin can load these files, I don't know...

    • @B.ART-electro
      @B.ART-electro  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @intheblink To extract the individual files from the disk images, you need the program CMIOS9, which you can download here for free:
      sourceforge.net/projects/cmios9/files/cmios9-3.2win.zip/download
      With QasarBeach you can't load the sequencer files (*.SEQ) or the MCL files (*.SS, *.PT, *.PC). Also most of the PAGE-R files (*.RS) do not work in QB...
