Cool😍 Many thanks to Olivier Galibert and the entire MAME team!!! i love MAME-CMI2x+SSM2045.. but the original f.Cmi2x always stay on top
Wow, almost identical to the real thing with the filter!
Thanks - you're an absolute hero for putting this together
How did you export audio from the MAME version? I have it up and running, but i'm not sure how to extract any audio from it!

@@B.ART-electro thank you for the quick reply! one more question, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to save a .RS file I have created. Is it using the 'Transfer' function?
nevermind, i figured it out after some trial and error. thank you for sharing such a great program! the sound quality compared to QasarBeach is insane.
one day someone said ; this is better than the original beat box. so this is the to short & better; i love the two
Thank you Jilo! This is not the only PAGE-R project that is so unfinished. If you have the time and desire, you are welcome to continue working on it... drive.google.com/file/d/1_U1e6kwPp-JptSNIHoOTsnBu3J8ACG4Y/view?usp=sharing
@@B.ART-electro thank you woouoo.. but you know my brother said this for moment he have no time to read yours email .. till now. i hope to work with this for moment etc; you are the best. i hope to show you what i have in my belly-musicaly😝 soon.
@@jilomatobi2380 Don't wait any longer for your brother! An Intel Core i3-14100 PC offers sufficient emulation performance and costs only €300 if you build it yourself. However, a Ryzen 5 9600X system would be ideal...
@@B.ART-electro yes I would take the Ryzen, to be calm. thank you really. Do you have the mame cmi2x which makes hardisk noises.? THANKS

Florian will never be gone-
Missing quite a few of the bass notes.
I used a computer whose single-thread performance is far too low for the hardware emulation of the Fairlight CMI IIx and therefore had to "tweak" the ChannelCard emulation in order to be able to play this .RS file at a constant simulation speed of 100%. As a result, not only the very short notes of the electric bass, but also the transients of ALL samples in general are not reproduced correctly...
Can u do a tutorial setting up the mame emulation?
Can u give me the samples please
I’m not surprised if the entire song is standard samples.
Cool
did you sample this from art of noise or did you find any disc or what for this instrument? imean it sounds like their radio sound
I saw kraftwerk at the all points east festival acouple of years back for the first time so i had missed seeing Florian very sad
BUP!
Very cool. This was the first version of BeatBox I heard and now the AoN are one of my favourite groups. Where did you get those samples from, and are they the original names?
I got the samples from here: th-cam.com/video/ul0zAXzbzYA/w-d-xo.html The names of the voices are not the originals...
Redeuuuuu 😮😮😮😮
This is so oldschool and cool! Well done! I had no idea the Fairlight CMI was supported by MAME.
Nice and digital! The timbre of the sounds are digitally cold - full of cutoff glitches - yet warmed by the arrangement.
Of course, the emulated Fairlight CMI IIx sounds ice-cold and clanking, since its ChannelCard lacks the typical harmonic distortion of the original's analog VCF, VCA and output amplifier. These "cutoff glitches" occur because the ChannelCard reads the waveform RAM for the pitch change at variable speed. Since no sample interpolation is used, audible aliasing artefacts occur at low playback speeds, which is typical of the old CMIs...
Beautiful! Nice work 👍 (makes me nostalgic for my Atari and Amiga days!)
we 'll always expeted something nice from you. thanks for exp + nice verb to try
@jilomatobi2380 Sorry, haven't had time to reply to your last mails, but if you forward ALL the mails I sent you to your brother, he will certainly understand better which CPU's are best suited for the CMI2x...
Super Beat Box 👏
Awesome
I had this on vinyl. When I first heard it I thought this would be the next big thing.
Awesome
Killer!!!
Muy Buenoooo !!!
Grande Florian. Un innovatore, un Genio, costruttore di musica immortale. Musica che verrà ascoltata anche in futuro perche sarà sempre attuale. 🚝🚝🚝 T.E.E.
Wow. Didn’t expect such a stark difference! I’d love to hear a comparison between the Arturia plugin and the MAME version. MAME sound pretty much identical. Just a tad brighter.
@intheblink As I don't have the Arturia plug-in, I can't make any comparisons, but as you do, this would be the perfect task for you. Since the Arturia CMI V can't read original .RS files you have to recreate at least one PAGE-R pattern to compare sound & timing. Lots of "clean" audio files from a Fairlight CMI IIx are available here: soundcloud.com/synthroom The PSB discs used by Kirk Keyes can be found here: polygonal-moogle.com/mame/cmi_files.zip I am looking forward to the result of this comparison...
this is indistinguishable <3
The unofficial MAME CMI2x for Windows 64-Bit can be downloaded here: drive.google.com/file/d/1uA0fz9Gb-23Odk7ZLp6oZ4ghaswgUpZM/view?usp=sharing Some useful information can be found here in the comments...
@Sergio Frias Sorry, I forgot to answer your question about my changes to the CMI2x driver. TH-cam user @JOJOZ has already been kind enough to make his Google Drive available so that the necessary files for the MAME CMI2x are finally available to others. Yesterday I copied the individual files into a shared directory: drive.google.com/file/d/1EXV-aDo_kUH7re6b2eB3QCIAnb0kQrcU/view?usp=sharing You can see the changes I have made to the driver in the file "Maximum optimisation.png"...
Addendum: After someone pointed out to me today that the version of QasarBeach I used in this test was "completely outdated" and that my comparison was therefore meaningless, I have just downloaded the current version 1.44a and tried it out again. Conclusion: Even the new version is still NOT able to read and process the original Fairlight files correctly and therefore still sounds just as bad as the previous versions. In addition, even in the new version 1.44a, the song structure of the OPPWHI2.RS has to be completely rearranged!
Myself first sample of Oscar Ning Jarre from Portugal to France with Jean Michel Jarre. After this concert, my grandmother, start to brakes my laptop and everything was going to crying and me. I hated my grandmother Fernanda. 😢😮
lol what
@JoeNevixOfficial Since mid-July 2022 at the latest, all information on commissioning, configuring and using the hardware emulation of the Fairlight CMI IIx in MAME has been freely available on the Internet. Here on TH-cam alone you can find information on the topic "MAME Fairlight" on 5 different channels! In the respective video descriptions and in the comments you will find everything you need to get started...
Mame CMI IIx is really close with the original CMI IIx ! I'm so happy to be able to use it, thanks to you bro ! Thank you once again, and thank you for this comparison !! 🙏🙏
@J0J0Z In this sound comparison, it is important to bear in mind that the audio output of the original Fairlight was also fed through the preamplifier of an audio interface, which led to a slightly higher saturation. In addition, with Kirk Keyes CMI IIx either not all 8 ChannelCards are the same (REV.1/2/3/4) or they are not calibrated exactly the same, which can be heard with Channel No.5 (BLUESGIT.VC). Although the filter of the SSM2045 is not yet emulated in MAME, the CMI2x already comes very close to the sound of a "real Fairlight". If the characteristics of the DBX2150 were also emulated, there would certainly be no audible difference...
@@B.ART-electro Thanks for all the details, I much appreciate it ! I hope people will continue to improve the Mame CMI2x emulation, it really deserve it !
@@J0J0Z Your hope is justified, because I know that at least 2 people are currently working on the further development of the CMI2x. Unfortunately, however, neither of them is yet sufficiently familiar with MAME and neither of them has anywhere near as much experience, knowledge and understanding in the field of information electronics as the MAME developers. Therefore, ANY help in this regard is welcome...
@@B.ART-electro If I can, I would be happy to help, you know how much this project is important for me. I'm IT engineer (Mainframe IBM z/OS systems), but I'm not programmer at all... I can't help in this way unfortunately. It’s great news to know that some people are still working on it !
@J0J0Z It would be very helpful, for example, if you could run the test set that I offered you for download a few days ago on different CPUs. The measured values are important because the simulation speed unfortunately does not increase linearly with the single-thread performance. To do this, you would also have to run the Passmark "CPU-Single-Threaded" test on each CPU...
It's a perfect track! The dark rhythms of EBM pierce the ear wave by wave!
