    ANOTHER great picking video! That Squire sat in my naughty bucket mocking me for at least a couple of years, and you knock it out in minutes. Fantastic! It looks like I got stuck in a "light tension" rut and need to up my game with some of your "gorilla" tensioning techniques. They are obviously successful. 😃

      From what LPL said in the video, that was not the first time he picked (or at least partly picked the lock). We don't know how many hours/days he may have practiced before he first mastered the lock. After all, he posted the video for the first lock a week ago.
      This makes two lock in a row that required heavy torsion (torque) to pick. I wonder if that will be true for all your naughty locks?

      @@adamackels73 I think Master lock is happy making mediocre locks that cost them very little because the average public doesn't know any better and thinks a lock is a lock. If everyone knew what we know, Master lock would have to step up their game and start putting a little more effort into their junk locks.

    I was curious about just how expensive this particular lock was, and it's currently listing for just under $178 USD.
    I guess it's true that this level of protecion comes at a cost.
    I noticed that it's also made in Great Britain, so that probably contributed a bit to the cost.
    Either way, it looks like a lock that will defeat most attempts that aren't noisy enough to wake the neighbors, at least for nearly all thieves!

    TH-cam steered me to your videos somehow. I've been watching them for the past couple of days.
    This video made me remember I have a SS65CS in the house, I used to use it to chain my bike with a big 16mm Pragmasis chain.
    I remember after about 3 years living outside the lock was pretty hard to handle, especially with motorcyle gloves on.
    So now, with this video, I pulled it a part (it refused at first) and it is full of sand.
    With that, a great video would be a general guide to padlock maintenance. What grease to use and some best practices on pulling it a part.
    Would be an good help tbh and as far as I can see, you haven't done it yet.
    Keep up the good work, you're obviously very skilled at what you do (both the lockpicking and making youtube vids).

    If the lock had included a high-cut pin in the back, only drilled the hole for that pin deep enough to be reachable by a high-cut key, and had used a T-pin driver over it, would you have been able to pick it? I would think such a design would be a cheap way to make a lock impossible to pick using the approach shown here since the hole under the back pin would't reach to your pick, and the front pins would block access to the rear pin. I wonder why lock makers don't do that since it would seem a cheap and easy way to make locks much harder to pick.

    Could all those clicks be accounted for by the pins dropping due to very minor fluctuations in tension? Since the tolerances are so high it's possible. I have a euro lock that you really have to crank the tension up and hold it steady or it won't open. Very easy to drop pins.

    What is a drill pin, and the use of a ball bearing above the end of the keyway?

    • @froz3ncat
      @froz3ncat 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm no expert, but it's a material issue. The pins and ball bearing are usually very hard, and certainly harder than the rest of the core. The ball bearing causes a lot of slippage on drill bits breaking into the lock, deflecting the bit aside and causing the attacker to bore a hole into an unwanted part of the core, which then gums up the shear line in the lock, basically freezing it in locked position.
      The pins serve a similar function.

  • @LukeSoderling

    Wouldn’t a key with a very sharp point that could get under pins that dropped to the bottom be very difficult to pick? Especially if it had a nasty keyway with required the long curve on the pick.

Lessons learned, if there’s a D cut pin, then it acts as a zero lift, because just having the pick under it, will bring it to the shearline, or past it. Second thing, Mul T locks pick via the Gege tamping technique, checkout UKLS posts to learn it.💪💪💪💪😝😝😝🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️

    You really have skills, Mr. L.P.L. I figure you better be packing when you go back to see Bill, he's going to shoot you for how easily you opened this lock. SMILE, No really great job on picking it. What was the pick you used again ? 0.25 ?

    Harry do you think all the 'clicks' you were getting were from the ledges inside the core? Essentially, the way I see it you'd be getting double of everything except from the spool.

    possible reason..... Government issue model 410 is priced at $55 and probably has same core so... Once worked on passenger rail equipment, electrified, in UK. Overhead line voltage, 20KV! You don't want duplicate keys on lockout disconnects.

    Very Nice Technique! Less than 4 minutes, but BB is sort of embarrassed by your quick pick and gut of this Naughty Bucket Lock! Great Job! You make it look soooo easy!

    Nice naughty bucket picking, and great cut away demonstration of the correct pick profile getting past wild warding.

    Now that you’ve dissected this lock, have you been able to determine the reason behind all the clicks you were getting? BTW, I agree with Bill that you’re probably the most Prominent, no, perhaps I mean precise picker on the scene that I know of. Thank you for your videos.

    I bet the clicking came from pins key pins 4,5, and 6. And the spool of course.

    I got a bit behind on your channel, LPL, and when I come back, you have 120k subs! Man, I'm glad to see the success of your channel. You had 8k subs when I joined. And successfully opening Naughty Bucket locks! That's really cool. So glad to see you and Bill doing videos together. I hope it's not just a one time thing. You and Bill... the best lock sport channels on the 'toob.

    How does a small ball-bearing become drill protection?

    • @shelbysteiner
      @shelbysteiner 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My guess would be that the ball bearing makes it so a drill can't get a good bitting on the lock; possible that the ball bearing is in there to rotate as the drill spins or it just causes the bit to glance off.
      Just a guess though.

    Would you still put this lock on the list of the biggest and baddest locks? I'm asking because I am wondering whether this specific lock and cylinder combination is a good choice to secure my motorcycle (Almax package).
