I worked in a bar in Port Grimaud as a DJ in 1985 and the Highliners played there a couple of times. At that time they had a guy who played an upright bass in the shape of a coffin (painted fluorescent pink of course) and his electric pickup stopped working. I made him a temporary replacement from a magnet salvaged from an old television and some enamelled copper wire from the same old TV. I wonder if he is still using it? Happy days!!
+Philip Selwood Hi this is the drummer from the Crazy Caps...we also played in Port Grimaud back in 1985. I remember the Highliners very well and more so the coffin single string double bass ha ha Great act...Naim
If you are in touch with any of the guys please give them my regards. I am sure you played the bar I was DJ'ing in. It was a long time ago and there was some good weed available lol
I would see these dudes back in the mid 80's driving up or down the Mile End road in their pink transit van with a skeleton surfing on the roof. I once asked them about their name, I have to confess im more a low-line fan when it comes to Ford Zodiac Mk2s, but still loved the group. Where are they now??
