Love these sandwiches, especially the sliders.
Tip for you, you mentioned your homemade gravy not being as dark as you like it. I use kitchen bouquet, it's a browning and seasoning sauce. After you made your gravy add a small amount, 1/4tsp at a time, till desired color for your gravy. A little goes a long way.
Oh my gosh! My mom used to make beef Manhattans and I loved them! They were so good!
I would put horseradish on all sides of the biscuits.
Up north we call that manhattan an open faced hot beef sandwich. I prefer white bread and not open faced. Some folks don’t like soggy bread. My personal favorite of the hot meat sandwiches is a hot meatloaf as long as it’s a good meatloaf made the correct way without green pepper and carrots and with ground beef and ground pork.

I can attest to how delicious the Manhattan Hotshot Open Face Beef made with Garlic Bread (I use Texas Toast) -- I also add a little onion and garlic powder to the mashed potatoes.
The crunch on the tavern loose meat sandwich was divine.💜😊
Hi Catherine!!! I only make roasts on Sundays. On Tuesday I have a open face sami with the beef and gravy. Next time I will make it like you did with the toast and mashed potatoes!!! It just so.happens.i have a chuck.roast in the crock pot. And im definitely gonna make one of these sandwiches with it for dinner tonight. I had no idea what i was gonna do w the roast when i put ot in this morning. I just knew i was gonna be busy roday and qouldnt have alot of time for dinner and then inseen this video. I think spreading horseradish on the bread under the meat on the first sandwich would be great as well!
With the loose meat sandwich I have an idea I wonder if anyone has ever tried. If you know how many sandwiches you are planning to make could you pull bread out of the middle in just under the size you are making so where you make your cut there are ridges that hold the filling in better? It's just a thought.

A open faced roast b sand or the turkey we had these often for lunch when I was younger
To darken the gravy use Kitchen Bouquet.

I seem to remember turkey w mashed potatoes w gravy orig in KY called a hot brown on plain white bread
you could also use sour dough bread for the manhattan hotshot sandwich

I like slicing the french loaf like this and put some spaghetti sauce shredded cheese and pepperoni put in the oven let melt it becomes supper crisp and delichious you can also add whatever you like on it to (mushrooms, bell peppers, hot peppers etc)

For my Manhattan Hotshot, I used sourdough garlic toast... It was DUH-LICOUS!
The restaurant I used to work at way back when, called that sandwich 'hot roast beef'. They also had a 'hot turkey sandwich', both on white bread. They roasted their own meat. Everything was so good. Yours looks good too.

Thank you Catherine. I can’t decide, all 4 are delicious ideas. We love Bob Evans mashed potatoes too. I just put it in the microwave for 5 minutes . And we buy the packets of sauce too. Last week I used a pack of hollandaise sauce and canned flaky biscuits. Big time saver. So good.

Yum I haven’t had a hotshot in so long.
I should add in my neck of the woods…we served beef on two slices white bread cut in half. Separate scoop mashed potatoes in center gravy over everything.

We in Nebraska make a good roast beef sandwich. Cut in half in a triangle. Put a serving of mashed potatoes in the middle of dinner plate and half a sandwich on either side. Then pour the gravy on all of it. Have never used deli beef only leftover roast beef and gravy is usually a little thicker. Is is always looked forward to after a roast beef dinner.
Also, have never used biscuits for French Dip sandwiches only sub rolls.
Also, what do you do with the other half of the meat mixture from the loose meat.sandwich? I think I would use 2 loaves of bread and take to a pot luck meal.
We save any leftover meat for another sandwich.
Sorry, but the Italian slider is a meal for me not an appetizer. All of these are awesome ideas for fast meals, Thank you!

What can I substitute for the horseradish sauce
You can use ginger or Dijon mustard.
The tavern loose meat looks good, but cooked peppers don't like me !!
You can leave the peppers out.
