Both will take out most enemies in 1 shot, and I think they're both hitscan weapons. But I would give the advantage to Half-Life 1 because you can carry a lot more ammo.
It's nuts how little ammo the HL2 one gets. You basically use it like four times in the game and two of those are against antlion guardians. If it carried 18 rounds it would be so much better. Also combine elites are kinda screwy and will occasionally eat two shots. Super annoying even if you line up a headshot
Honestly the Half Life 1 animations are better in my opinion. I feel like valve kinda skipped out on having detailed animations for the Half Life 2 guns. I also prefer the blue chrome on the Half Life 1 revolver, it just looks a lot cleaner and slick.
Meh, I kinda find the HL 1 Ptyhton to look a bit cartoony compared the the HL 2. Maybe is a prespective thing, becasue for me, the barrel looks too big.
Half-Life 1 revolver had clearly been intended to be 44 Magnum, but was switched to 357 during the development. That’s why it’s so powerful. Hence, change in HD version to .44 Anaconda, and Half-Life 2 version being modeled after Anaconda as well.
The one in HL2 feels like a true magnum, it sends people flying! I love the viewmodel on it too, but also the HL1 one version feels a little more accurate (as in aim).
I like the HL1 revolver more because of the lesser recoil, it felt way easier to hit stuff with it. I probably just have a skill issue. Also, I'm not really sure why, but I started to dislike its idle holding animation in HL2
I think I prefer the HL1 version for the punchier sound and reduced recoil. In HL2 the recoil was high enough that it was naseuating compared to other guns and felt more difficult to land consecutive shots.
HL2’s revolver feels a lot “punchier” tbh. Landing headshots is one of the greatest feelings ever, especially since enemy ragdolls go flying when they get shot.
I prefer HL2 version, sounds more powerful and looking cool. Also in HL2 revolver is very effective solution for "I need a powerful and precise weapon now!" situations, because smg becomes pew pew gun after Ravenholm, and Impulse Rifle ammo is always in deficit until the very end of the game, where it becomes pew pew gun, and shotgun is not good at middle distance fights, which is not rare in the game. While in HL1 revolver is effective too,, but you can easily forget about it and complete the game with smg/shotgun.
I loved these games but omg, I've always despised that reload animation. You can't spin the cylinder on a revolver once it's locked shut. If Gordon could free spin it after he slaps it shut, then the clocking mechanism is broken.
Half life 2 revolver is too underwhelming compared to half life 1. It also doesn’t make sense how the bullets magically stick together without a speed loader.
The first one is a lot slower and therefore literally just *feels* more powerful. Half life wasn’t about realism or graphics, it was about what was fun. And the revolver is hella fun
The HL2 Revolver is better because when you headshot a metrocop he does a backflip
I got a .357 revolver as my first gun because of these games
That's one hell of a first gun lol.
@@trevorshark16 nah not really, if it was a s&w 500 magnum, then yeah that would truly a hell of a first gun.
Good choice. I did exactly the same with a Smith and Wesson 686.
357 is still a good choice tho
Well, good that not a crossbow which can heat up the bolts haha or an alien bug

@@molanohouse I agree, but thats prolly one of the things I like about it oddly enough.

Spy: Nice Job! Now give back my weapon.

HL1 takes the cake for me. Nothing beats those 80's action movie sounds.
HL2 revolver looks, feels and sounds perfect.
Valve updated the HL25 revolver to do 50 dmg in multiplayer, so """technically""" more powerful than HL2

The ragdolls flying plus the recoil in the viewmodel animation, really sell it's punchiness.

HL2 shotgun is so much better than HL1's it's not even close
HECUs on Hard would be such a pain if you ignored the revolver.
hl1 revolver feels nicer to shoot, hl2 revolver is nicer to look at
Both are good
It is.
to me the half life 2 revolver just looks slightly more powerful because of the recoil

Counter argument: it makes a nice noise

I like hl2 better but I also like the model and anime from hl1 a lot
You forgot to mention the fact that Half-Life 1 lets you fire 42 rounds with the revolver, while Half-Life only lets you fire 18 rounds.
He did
for 1998, the revolver looks impressive
HEV armor vs Kevlar Vest?
IIRC it's the same thing except the kevlar is worse since you can't pick up energy packs or recharge it
El arma con el que mas manqueo XD
HL1 revolver worse, simply due to hl1 enemy hitboxes being wonky. Will miss headshots just because of that.
hl2 better
