After a while Home Depot sales their rental tools. For almost, if not, 70% off retail prices. You can put in your zip code or a zip code near you and find the nearest one that is selling a carpet extractor. Even concrete surface cleaner, pressure washer and more. Great tip; if you plan on buying more than one item, don't hesitate to ask for an additional discount from the rental tools department manager. You can ask for a dollar amount off like $50 or 10% off. I've seen a TH-camr do it with great results www.homedepot.com/tool-truck-rental/used-tools/mobile/

6:15 - PLEASE, PLEASE, NEVER USE UNDERCOATING, especially if you plan to sell the vehicle. Unless you plan to completely remove all old paint, prime, and THEN apply undercoating, DON'T DO IT. The stuff used in this video will flake and peel off of any surface that is not completely clean, free of rust, and dry. "Blackening" the wheel well area will cause well-educated prospective buyers to turn away from your vehicle. Moisture will get behind this paint and ENCOURAGE rust. All you're doing is hiding the truth. Power washing your engine compartment is also a BAD IDEA. CAREFULLY COVER ALL THE ELECTRONICS (which is most everything) IF YOU INSIST ON POWER WASHING!!!!! A lot of the cleaning and other aspects of this video are good, though.
Paul Hoskins oil undercoating like krown is good to put on whatever, but that asphalt black crap is exactly that, it’s crap that just makes everything worse
I don’t see any issues with what they did. All you guys are so butt hurt 😂. Moisture trapping behind the paint? Cmon, that’ll take years to happen... he did nothing sketchier than what your average car dealer would do he just filmed the process. People spray engine bays all the time, relax if they didn’t cover the battery...
It's an older engine with a lot fewer sensors and electrical components then today's vehicles, so I will give them a pass here. But generally, spraying water on the engine is not recommended and a huge risk for problems.
I’ve been cleaning my Jeep Wrangler engine with a hose every two weeks for the last 14 years. And I don’t cover anything when I do it. I’ve never had a problem and it runs like a champ. Call me lucky I guess since everyone says you’ll ruin your engine doing that. SMH.
Wow that was cool. I just bought a black 2000 ford ranger. I'm definetly gonna buy some of that black paint for underneath. I live in Ohio so rust is a problem.. Thankfully whoever owned it before me took really good care of it so the frame is good. Ford rangers are great trucks. They last forever, built solid and have a cult like following. Everyone who has owned a Ranger loves them. You will have no problem selling that.
Also Instead of replacing the headlights just restore them to save a few extra bucks. Wet sand starting with 400 grit, 600, 1000 and finish with 2000. Once all done clean it with fresh water. Air dry then tack clothe and spray it with a good Automotive clear coat. Comes out crystal clear. I do headlight restorations and an exterior paint decontamination process that's similar to clay barring but without the clay. NanoShock.
@@jasonjr2500 A bucket filled with water Or a spray bottle with water. Soak the sandpaper that is for wet or dry in the water for a minute then using a sanding block wrap the sandpaper around it dip back in the water and sand in a crisscross pattern making sure to keep the sandpaper wet along with the headlight. Do that til the white milky residue from sanding is gone. Repeat that for all the grit sandpaper working up to 1500 or 2000 grit. As you get to the finer grit paper start using less pressure sanding making sure to do even strokes. Once done with all the sanding clean the headlight with clean water a few times. Wipe with a lint free cloth and then use a tack cloth to get any dust off the headlight. It will be hazy til you clear coat them. Get a can of Crystal Clear automotive clear coat in a can a give the headlights. Easier to show then explain through type. I would sand you tube headlight wet sanding. Dont waste your money on the headlight restoration kits. They dont last. I've done headlights 10 years ago here in the Florida sun and they are still crystal clear. No fading, yellowing or hazing. Take your time doing the steps and you will have Excellent results.
New headlights for the trucks are almost the same price as restoring old ones. And, put LED bulbs in if you really wanna sell it to the 1st buyer. LED front lights, turn signals, running lights and tail lights and reverse lights. Makes the vehicle look brand new. MUCH better lights and visibility. And when you show them to a potential buyer they immediate see a beautiful truck.
@@BAND-MAID-USA ignorant question, but can you just pop LED bulbs into any of those sockets you mentioned on a Ranger? What about a '93 Miata? In general do you need to change any wiring or fuses (or anything electrical) on an older vehicle in order to make add-on LED bulbs work correctly (or not burn out)?
@@Yowzoesimple replacement of all bulbs to LED. That works 99.8% of the time. There are tons of LED bulbs available that are a direct fit and replacement for any bulb on any vehicle.
I know it is easier to just replace the headlights/indicators but you could have saved yourself a few dollars by taking the units out and DA'ing them with some cutting compound, or if the headlights were really dull, you could use wet and dry paper of progressively finer grit to get them clear again. There are tons of videos on here to see how it is done. You can DA plastic lenses to really good effect. Worth considering.
Keep pushing your dreams bro, this is mine. I’m glad to see someone else doing it ya know. I eventually wanna own my own shop and if I can manage that then I wanna create an alright channel so I can do things like this and eventually build my own car. My biggest dream is owning a vehicle like a newer Mazda 3 speed and I wanna palace the motor with a new twin turbo 13b REW🙏🏽
True but these guys sold it for profit. If it was their truck I think they would have done it but then it would cost them more labor to sand all the rust on all 4 sides.
@MysteriousOklahoma unfortunately that's almost every dealer nowadays. In fact I'd be shocked if you found an actual honest car dealer. Here's where things get fucked up - these people fix flooded cars and make them work just long enough for the sale to go through. The day after Harvey finally cleared up in Houston I was driving to Tulsa since my apartment was damaged and unlivable. On my way over I saw a lot of cars being towed up north.
Way too much for what you're doing, but I needed a 4x4 truck in Minnesota in 2000 so after much searching I found a fancy 98 Ranger, with black paint, which you can touch up forever, 4.0 manual, loaded with everything. I hoped it would last. Still driving it. Over time the interior wore out and I spent years searching for Eddie Bauer Explorer interiors. Finally got full power bucket seats, full length console which you can easily pop out the center panel for the stick. Crown vic BBS wheels that only a handful of people even recognize these days. Like driving a sweet sports car that nobody even notices.
I was the one that bought the blue ranger. Rims that was put on did not have proper lugs and scared lug bolts. Was happy when I bought it, but as goes with anything you buy used, I had other issues after driven a bit. Had to replace exhaust and fix a misfire. And I was told that the vehicle was owned by his father in Georgia and was fixed up for his brother, who didn’t want it. Not mad tho! A little more investment and it will be a great truck.
Dude this video is str8 🔥 love the way you cleaned and transformed this truck ! 🙌🏼looks amazing dude 🙌🏼 keep up the great video man. Amazing content ✅✅
That black paint and the Blue looks good together. I had recently reupholstered my Ranger for over a $1000, it had a stitching spread open on the driver's side and if you know me I need everything perfect on my showroom conditioned 02' Ford Ranger XLT. Why did they stop making this affordable model truck. The working man doesn't was to pay an arm or leg for a new one, simply forget and the bells and whistles in the dash.
My dad has a 94 ranger that’s green it was his first truck and now it’s a farm truck but it was the first truck I learned how to drive a stick with when I was 11 I’m 14 now.... great build
On almost all rangers models beside the new ones, you can insert the antenna or another rod of the same size under the door handle, if you hold the handle up you will see the hole I am referring too, it is where the handle goes in to the door. If you feel around you can find the lock lever and jimmy the lock.
@@PainterFRO Ford electrics and water don't mix. Not to mention many engine components do not get factory rust proofing and are vulnerable to rusting. In my opinion this video indicates everything to fear from diy car sales. Rushed repairs, lipstick over dents, and not removing rust prior to spraying aerosols.
@@macmurati Funny I've never had a problem with cleaning a ford engine without covering anything and all I've ever had is Fords. Any car sales are all about appearance. I own a body shop and work on even factory car lots cars weekly. You would see the same thing if you went to a car dealer who even has their own body shops..Most used cars get touched up and it's really up to the consumer to thoroughly look over a car before they buy it.
@@PainterFRO this thread is starting to sound like a great reason to buy a car from a place that prides themselves on oem+ mentality. No offense to anyone trying to earn a quick buck. But in such a competitive industry and market the only thing that matters is what your customers think of you. If you sell a quality product it will speak for itself.
The extractor you want is called a Numatic George. Its a wet vac, a dry vac, and an extractor all in one. Commercial grade too. I have no affiliation with them but I bought one and it is a game changer.
This looks great! I feel inspired to clean up my old 2000 Ranger. how did you get the engine to look so good and fresh?? even before your dad washed it .. I noticed it looks much better than mine! Nice work I bet it's fun and something to feel proud of when you see the finished truck!
Wow that was cool! I recommend a bissell spot bot. I use it when my dog shits on thick carpet and it really works extremely well. I think it would be good at cleaning dirt really well. Shout out to your brother and your pops. Also any news on your trailer. I see it in the background but no more videos of it? Ever sense I joined somewhere around 7k subs I've loved all the content you've put out. Keep up the great work, hustle hard and make that money baby. #notificationsquad #realone #foreverselfemployedinstafollower
If you lock the keys in another ranger you can hand unscrew the antenna, put it in the hole under the door handle, and use that to push the lock button up. I lock mine in there at least once a month and can pop it open in under 20 seconds
It's not a good idea of painting the chassis either! Lucky some m*********** don't rip you off and it's rusting out. could at least use primer first....??
When I’m looking at a truck, I’d rather see a frame with surface rust than see a freshly “under coated” frame. Because behind that undercoating, it’s eating itself from the inside out. However, I can imagine the average ignoramus buying a truck wouldn’t realize.
I knew an old mechanic back in the 80s who would put used motor oil on a spray bottle and coat his undercarriage/frame with it once a year. He would park on the street for about a week afterward. It stops rust dead in its tracks but I'm sure it infuriates tree hugging hippie types. I don't do it but I would consider it if I found myself with a real rust issue. Lets face it, children's breakfast cereal is full of roundup, most produce is sprayed with neurotoxins, and meat is full of antibiotics and synthetic hormones, a bit of dino drippings isn't going to make much difference.
@@murrayshekelberg9754 I kind of do the same thing but cleaner. I couple times a year (before and after winter) I get underneath my car with a rag and some old motor oil and I wipe everything down thoroughly. It has worked very well to prevent rust on cars I daily drive in snow and salt. Spraying is probably faster, but messier. If you wipe it on with a rag you don't get any drips and I can park it in my garage straight after. You also get a good look at everything under there.
Cab corners are empty tubes that have little holes for if water was to get in to come out, but that is actually what makes it rust. Find a piece of rubber that will fill the holes and on the last hole pump oil into it and that will stop any cab corners from rusting from the inside like they do 90% of the time. Thought I would share the knowledge of rust prevention with oil.
When a buyer sees that a seller is putting forth the effort into product presentation, the buyer is more inclined to purchase said product or more products from the seller. When my family picked up my truck from the dealer, it was detailed, vacuumed, placed up front in the showroom, and it even had a cute bow on top and balloons attached to the mirrors. The staff made us feel at home and gave us vouchers for the local buffet in town. Because we had such a great experience buying my truck, we came back a couple weeks later and bought a truck for Daddy.
Fun fact. You can pop open a ranger door (02-11) with a long screw driver by lifting the handle and sliding it under the handle and pushing up. (Window can't be down at all)
MCham08 yes of course. And when flipping or keeping you spend some of your time to polish it so the paint looks amazing and you get some more money out of the sale. Thats flipping 101
Wow nice work! Thanks for all the ideas what I can do with my 2001 Ford Ranger. I like the Plastic-Dip grill. I was thinking about doing carbon fiber vinyl in the dash but couldn't find one that seems like good quality. I also got seat covers because my seat is worn through in that EXACT same spot, and I'm happy to say my back doors both work perfectly :)
Did you fix the rear doors? I just did that on my 2000 Ranger. Also, new headlights? I'd have thought that, on a flip, that you'd have just polished the existing headlights. Also surprised that you left in the driver's seat with a hole in it. So a prospective customer will be impressed with the clean door jams, but then they see the hole in the seat. It looks great.
You can unlock all obs ford rangers with the antenna there’s a little square under the door handle just stick in there shimmy it around a little till you find the lock push up and bam your in works every time just takes a lil practice (please use this information for good use only)

Paul Hoskins I think if he did rust convertor/reformer it would look better and not be a rubber tar coating on the frame.
i was salty he didn't feather edge the damn door jambs
Paul Hoskins oil undercoating like krown is good to put on whatever, but that asphalt black crap is exactly that, it’s crap that just makes everything worse
stfu
Bro…I bought a 99 Ranger same color and am really inspired by what you did with your flip!
Thanks bro!
I dig the justification for shade! We've had so much of that it's become a way of life! But it's ok cause car dealers do it! Fucking brilliant.
Aj James English is definitely not your strong suit
It's an older engine with a lot fewer sensors and electrical components then today's vehicles, so I will give them a pass here. But generally, spraying water on the engine is not recommended and a huge risk for problems.
I’ve been cleaning my Jeep Wrangler engine with a hose every two weeks for the last 14 years. And I don’t cover anything when I do it. I’ve never had a problem and it runs like a champ. Call me lucky I guess since everyone says you’ll ruin your engine doing that. SMH.
Honestly seeing him and his brother and dad work on this truck make me miss my pops I haven’t seen him in a year
great video, I've been flipping cars for 20+ years and never thought to document it... got me motivated now to do so. I subscribing too
Wow that was cool.
I love those little Rangers, looks great man.
Fr that was pretty cool. Props to you for starting a business with your father. Not many people do that nowadays 👊🏽
NanoShock.
What do you mean wet sand? If it's like 15 or 20 bucks I will do it on my 2000 f150 because they are foggy and hate foggy looking headlights.
Hell yeaah, That was cool,, bought a black 99 Ranger w 94G miles today & gonna do the front end exactly like you did, very nice & simple 👍👍
94k miles*
G is stupid sounding.
Great work! It is so, so satisfying to clean up a vehicle. I love making my older Ranger shine, same with our daily driver vehicles.
I think u did a great job on it. The only thing I would have did was something with rip in drivers seat but overall truck looks really good
This Is literally my dream truck, thanks for showing me what I need to do when I buy one
I'm glad i found y'all!.
Wow thatwas cool!. I've been considering buying and flipping vehicles..this was very motivating!..
Thankyou!
Nice turn out...my Ranger is Hunter Green...step side..with identical chrome bumpers, and Alloy wheels, ....now I'm thinking about using plasti-coat....looks tough !
“WOW THAT WAS COOL”
Keep pushing your dreams bro, this is mine. I’m glad to see someone else doing it ya know. I eventually wanna own my own shop and if I can manage that then I wanna create an alright channel so I can do things like this and eventually build my own car. My biggest dream is owning a vehicle like a newer Mazda 3 speed and I wanna palace the motor with a new twin turbo 13b REW🙏🏽
Man you guys cleaned the engine bay the old fashioned way lol
LightningVolt127 why’s the new way?
Jorge Ortegon There is no new way but there are other ways. Other ways that won’t get water into the spark plugs and electrical system
I mean it got the job done 🤷♂️
Jonatan Cristobal Yes it did, with a high risk of damaging the electric system.
You mean the “ruining electronics” way
I’m an auto trimmer (upholsterer), and even I would take this to the car wash. Use the foaming brush on it and vacuum it off.
Whenever you're undercoating you have to remove the surface rust first. What a joke
True but these guys sold it for profit. If it was their truck I think they would have done it but then it would cost them more labor to sand all the rust on all 4 sides.
You miss the point. The purpose was to make it look better. Not to make it last longer.
not if you're flipping the rig lol
@MysteriousOklahoma unfortunately that's almost every dealer nowadays. In fact I'd be shocked if you found an actual honest car dealer.
Here's where things get fucked up - these people fix flooded cars and make them work just long enough for the sale to go through. The day after Harvey finally cleared up in Houston I was driving to Tulsa since my apartment was damaged and unlivable. On my way over I saw a lot of cars being towed up north.
Yeah this is just semi shady used car selling lol
Damn. Looks like a fun little truck 😎
Wow, that looks great... honestly you did a great job, got some great ideas and processes for cleaning up a vehicle... thanks.
Good idea going with the tough look. I bet it sells fast.
Love the truck..I just bought the same truck same color.im going to try to do what you did thanks for the tips n tricks.
"PARENTING" : You're doing it right right dad.
Love those old Rangers
My dad has a 94 ranger that’s green it was his first truck and now it’s a farm truck but it was the first truck I learned how to drive a stick with when I was 11 I’m 14 now.... great build
A year has gone by and everybody's looking for these
old Rangers. You can almost double your price. Awesome job you and your Dad do on them.
On almost all rangers models beside the new ones, you can insert the antenna or another rod of the same size under the door handle, if you hold the handle up you will see the hole I am referring too, it is where the handle goes in to the door. If you feel around you can find the lock lever and jimmy the lock.
Damn y’all sprayed the engine bay without taping up stuff lmao
What would you need to tape off to spray the engine bay?
@@macmurati Clearly if thats what your looking for you aren't gonna guy it from a DIY TH-camr...Its really all up to the consumer.
The extractor you want is called a Numatic George. Its a wet vac, a dry vac, and an extractor all in one. Commercial grade too. I have no affiliation with them but I bought one and it is a game changer.
Didn't realize Mitchell Trubisky had a youtube channel
I gotta do something in the off-season
They work great for seats as well lol ive done it myself
Any prep for the plasidip on the window frame?
Also, did you guys cover anything in the engine bay to clean it with a pressure washer?
WOW THAT WAS F*ING AWESOME
Very nice bro, came out great. I buy it just from watching you guys put time into cleaning it up. Well done.
It is not a VAY-Lance it is a VAL-Lance.
If you lock the keys in another ranger you can hand unscrew the antenna, put it in the hole under the door handle, and use that to push the lock button up.
I lock mine in there at least once a month and can pop it open in under 20 seconds
Change my mind.
Ford has made more money selling parts for the ranger than they did selling the ranger.
Wow that was cool! I have a Ranger, and im going to go clean it now.
Not good ideal paint the Chrome grills...
Why not?
It's not a good idea of painting the chassis either! Lucky some m*********** don't rip you off and it's rusting out. could at least use primer first....??
Finished product looked really good
When I’m looking at a truck, I’d rather see a frame with surface rust than see a freshly “under coated” frame. Because behind that undercoating, it’s eating itself from the inside out. However, I can imagine the average ignoramus buying a truck wouldn’t realize.
Jack Watters what you want a cookie or sum
J D I’m not much into sweets but thanks
Because we had such a great experience buying my truck, we came back a couple weeks later and bought a truck for Daddy.
annie4horses absolutely correct!!!
"As you guys can see..."
Thanks for reminding me that I'm blind..
Good one 😐
Fun fact. You can pop open a ranger door (02-11) with a long screw driver by lifting the handle and sliding it under the handle and pushing up. (Window can't be down at all)
You can also unscrew your antenna and use that in a pinch 👀
did you even compound and buff the paint. thats what makes a car look new
He's flipping it. Not keeping it
MCham08 yes of course.
I love older model trucks way more. Especially the tacoma.
You all are hardworking ❤ good hard work will lead to success
Dude spend 15 dollars to invest in a drill brush.. it works amazing to get stains out
Yup! Was just going to post this. A good drill and brush speeds things up so much more and cleans better than our tired hands 😂
You can unlock all obs ford rangers with the antenna there’s a little square under the door handle just stick in there shimmy it around a little till you find the lock push up and bam your in works every time just takes a lil practice (please use this information for good use only)
“170 miles on it” damn no one drove it 😂😂
It’s satisfying watching these great, older vehicles get a quick clean & fix-up 👌🏼
Actually the thicker the easiest take off
Watching this has made me want to go out and detail my ol 97’ b2300! Wow that was cool
Should have gotten the driver seat recovered most upholstery shops only charge 50-100$ for a spot like that
Or at least put an inexpensive seat cover on it so people don't look in and go 'yeah, this is just cleaned up trash'
Looks really nice good job. I think people underestimate how nice vehicles look with a little elbow grease.
You could of wet sanded the head lights and saved money
Looked to be in inside. I had to rewatch after u said that
