2011 S60 T6 Polestar Engineered owner here (140k km). So far the main issue with mine has been the water pump. It squeaked after turning off the engine. I have replaced it twice within 2 yrs. Good thing about Volvo is that you only pay for the first replacement. Subsequent ones are free. I recommend the following upgrades: TFT and gear selector retrofit (for a more modern look) and the DRL LEDs available from China. Best thing about buying these cars used is that you get a great machine for a pretty low price
I love these Volvos. Having spent time in a couple 2.5 T5s and an XC60 3.2 I can't think of much against them, except maybe the creaky plastics. I'm a big fan of the color, wheel & interior combination of the car in the video, especially with the wood trim. I would love to own one myself. Nice video!
Thank you so much! Volvo does make quite a good car! I personally feel like they're underrated for the amount of car you get for the price of used ones!
I own of these, just different color combination. Mine is white with beige leather interior. Volvo seats are among the best. Also love the power, step on it, let that turbo kick in and enjoy the ride. It seems like the faster you drive the smoother it feels.
Hey i bought a 2008 volvo s80 t6 3.0 awd 6 months ago volvo Polestar whit 315 hp its fun car before i own a 2006 volvo s60 2.5t , 3 inch steinless steel exhaust was really nice sound 😊 . The car loggage is huge in s80 compair to s60 im going to buy steinless steel exhaust to my s60 i have never heard a t6 whit steinless exhaust here i live its more diesel here. Rellt nice car you got there drive safe 😊😊😊
An intake and an exhaust really open up these t6 motors. I get a lot of turbo noise, and a nice low growl from the 6 cylinder. I want someone to take some vids for me outside the vehicle
@@tysonjohnson7913 The new version are. I believe 2018 was the last year you could get the 6 cylinder motor in a volvo. The new t5, t6, t8, and polestar motors are all based off of a 4 cylinder platform. They should have changed the name
All three were t6. The one I have now is the polestar tuned r-design. It’s hard to find a car with similar power and comfort at this price range; not to mention the insurance rate on this car is great. Each s60 had a different mechanical/electrical failure or malfunction but nothing that kept me from getting to where I needed.
What’s the mileage on yours and what is the maintenance like? Just got rid of my BMW X5 recently and had I not been so ignorantly excited about it I’d never gotten near the terrible car
These cars can be great reliability wise. With any Euro car just make sure the car you are looking at has been taken care of. When a problem or issue arises did the previous owner take care of the issue or let it be a problem to the last second? I know a few people with these Volvos and they have had almost no problems! I would also stick with the inline 6! Hope this helps!
How reliable are they? Checked the engine and it seems to be port + direct injection. Normally that indicates some love went into the engine to keep it running for quite some time. Sounds pretty bland though.
Volvo's are usually really reliable! If and this is a BIG if, it has been properly maintained and maintained regularly. But like you said they really engineered the car well. I think one of the biggest problems is that people get these cars and go cheap on the maintenance or don't do it at all and thats when problems can happen! Stock they aren't the best sounding but in T6's and the 5 cylinders sound sooo good when they have an exhaust!
@@perspectivedrives4920 do you know what milage they start to break down if poorly maintained? Id like to have a cutoff point with looking for one. Seriously considering. Was thinking of a Honda V6 but the timing belt is a big turn off for me.
@@The_Noticer. I don't think I could narrow it down to a certain mileage. But I would look for the lowest miles with the best options you prefer in your price range. There are regular maintenance items that you should do routinely such as spark plugs, oil, brakes, etc. But the smaller or less looked at stuff like bushings, suspension, interior wear, etc. don't see as much love as other parts. So in my personal opinion I would get the lowest mileage one you can afford and like. Because all of the items that aren't routine maintenance will have less miles on them ya know? I had a friend who got a car (Not a Volvo) that was higher mileage but had the regular services always done, but 6 months later had to replace the suspension, control arms, tie rods, etc. So if you get a higher mileage car just be aware of the things you MIGHT have to spend money on. If you go with a little higher mileage car just try to make sure it comes with service records or has a good service history! Hopes this helps! Sorry for the long response! 😬😊
@@perspectivedrives4920 You're right, that happened to me with my current car. Had to replace the brakes, and soon the bushings. But might get rid of it before that is needed for a S60. But most of them have 80.000 miles on them, minimum. Do you think those are safe buys? Especially if they were leased cars? There is one with 20.000, but it's significantly more expensive as a result.
@@The_Noticer. I think thats a pretty safe bet! 80,000 isnt bad at all! Things I would check out with it being around 80,000 is when the timing belt was done, as well as brakes. Everything else should be good to go for many more miles! 😊

Bradley is correct! For these years they had a 5 cylinder and a 6 cylinder (as shown in this video). Then Volvo went to the 4 cylinders later on!
