I’m Mexican. Beans and Rice has been one of my favorite things to eat since I learned how to chew. It’s interesting to see the way other Latin cultures make them. It’s funny how I can personally feel very bonded with others via food. Even though our ways of making the dish vary, at the end of the day its arroz con frijoles. There’s a shared history there.
Are rice and beans a large part of your meals? I ask this because I am not too close to anyone in the Mexican culture. But all the Mexican restaurants I've been to make rice and beans usually a small side, where the tacos are highlighted or the enchilada or tamal is like the highlight of the meal. I am venezuelan and grew up in south fl and most of the Caribbean cultures seem to give you excessive amounts of rice and beans, and they tend to be more or the star of the show in the meal, or at least the co star if that makes sense. So I was genuinely curious if it's like that normally, does it vary family to family, or is the rice and beans just a smaller side?
@Andy García, thats exactly how most eat it, but our way of cooking them is plane compared to ther countries, just rice and beans could be considered quite lazy as a main dish, the equivalent for Americans of eating a sandwich with just mayonnaise and ham.
@@AndyGarcia-ch1ci Well that's cuz you're going to restaurants... obviously rice and beans won't be the main dish lol in comparison to a homecooked meal. A lot of mexicans make rice and beans everyday with their meals, it's basically a staple (sometimes just rice, or just beans, or both but always these main ingredients). Usually as a side with a main dish (usually chicken or beef). However it's not uncommon to also eat just straight up rice and beans. @@wickgirl12345 That's interesting. Yes I grew up eating white rice but not like plain white rice that white people make lol. My white rice is always seasoned with garlic, olive oil, little salt. Of course I think my P.R. girl would win, I love our food. It never lacks flavor. But I CANNOT deny that the Dominican and Cuban cuisine is also so, so good. The Dominican mangú and the Cuban Congri are 👌
I love dishes from each… I can’t discriminate at all because they are so deliciously delightful 😊
Cool to watch how they all cook them different... Because I was like what do you mean you don't use olives..lol WEPAAAAA her beans looked good I might have just added salchichon or ham to kick it up a notch
These women are beautiful inside and out. Showing such class and they all look stunning.
The energy and glow of the first girl >>> amazing
Happy Hispanic heritage month to my Afro latinx community 💕💕🇭🇳

Same to you Queen! 👑🇩🇴
you too amor!! 🇨🇴
Only to afro latinos?.....
get out of here with that latinx nonsense.
I loved every second of this. They all could identify which country, they were fair, took real bites, gave constructive criticism, and also accepted some things may just not be to their taste. Yes to all of them.
I love it. Nobody said anything shady. It was all straightforward and honest, but respectful.
The 🇵🇷mami stole my heart already. EDIT: She also stole the contest! 🎉
She didn’t steal it, she won it!!
They’re all GORGEOUS!!! Victoria has one of the prettiest smiles I’ve ever seen😳🥰🤍
🇵🇷 for the win thank u! And it's so good to see everyone know each others plates and not be haters trynna say their's is better than! ❤️🔥
If you considering Bahamian culture, trying each other's:
peas and rice
guava duff
conch fritters
stew fish.
EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED!! Especially on the peas n'rice and the guava duff.
Just Call Me Tap did a few similar videos and the mom's cooked macaroni, peas and rice and, guava stuff.
*duff*
And y'all have Johnny cake right?
This was one of the more rational groups in this competition. Sometimes ppls competitiveness makes them rude. This video had some great specific feedback on why their scores were the way they were.
I love the pride, respect, and knowledge of their culture!!!
Dashay seems like the sweetest person in the world! I love her ❤
Prayers up for Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 right now!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
These ladies are the best competitors I've seen yet on this show kudos to them😌😌..... So respectful and fair way to go ladies good job🙌🙌
All the girls are beautiful, I love their energies. Dashay looks like a Dominican Nia Long to me though.
Love the honesty of the reviews and the genuine good spirits of the 3
Wow. I LOVE the fact even though they’re from different latin countries, they can differentiate which one is from which correctly! Shows a lot of unity! That’s really beautiful. Also, they were truthful without being disrespectful. 👌🏾
Shout out to how respectful and honest they were and appreciated each other’s cultures!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Wow they are ALL so stunning. This is perhaps one of the best videos on this channel, they were all so respectful, smart, fun, and you can tell these are the girls you want in your circle. ❤
I love how respectful and nice they all were to each other. This was a cute episode. Also yes for Afro Latina representation 🙌🏾
Hi all. I like the Title of your video. Afro Latinas! The fact thst you guys are proud of being Afro Latinas is lovely . Great jobs showing the Afro Latinas Foods.
I love they’re embracing their Afro side 🥺❤️
They're black...not white or indigenous latino...
I love how all of them were nice and honest. I also appreciated how they could tell where it was from
Much respect to all these ladies for being positive 😊
I love the moment at 2:50. Immediate excitement when she saw that bit of rice. I love this so much omg
I'm seeing so much culture from various parts of west Africa in this video
Ghanaians call it the "under" part of the rice and it's a favorite too. I love to see similarities like that across cultures
Asi3!
Kanzo is the word you're looking for
It's the same in Iran, it's called crispy rice
The ladies all have really great energy. Glad to see them not all hating on each other. It’s 8am here and now I feel like rice and beans SOS
We can definitely recognize each other's cuisine 🇵🇷
Watching this made me so happy 🥰 🇵🇷🇭🇹
As an African American I’m loving this!! ❤
So pleasant to hear kind words from each of these ladies. I'm a softy so it actually brings a tear to my eye. ONE Love y'all.
yall need to do Creole Red Beans & Rice
wishing they had a brazilian there!! i was dying to see their reaction to rice and carioca beans with maybe beef or chicken on the side!
Farofa
This was such a pleasure to watch. All dishes looked amazing. All contestants were radiant. Bring them back. 🎉🎉
As a cuban I already knew once Alana said she mixed up the recipe, it wasn't gonna land high. Perfection doesn't need change.
Why were her black beans so dry???? 😫
These ladies were definitely very classy, respectful, and open to other cultures. We live for that!
being one myself i lovedddd seeing a cuban afro latina❤ thank you for representing us so well.
la única con los frijoles negros 🫶🏽
