      Those guys are great! I'm jealous of that Z1 and Z2... ha ha. I'll add those to the fleet someday. Good luck and enjoy the next 4-6 weeks before it kicks off again.

    Bro thats awesome im thinking bout buying the 48" how many hours you got now on it

      Tony's Lawn care I sold it with about 130 hrs and got a 36" Ferris FW 25 that only had 36 hrs on it. The guy I sold the 52" to says it has 256 hrs now and he hasn't had any problems with it. He just does the regular maintenance.
      I've been seeing a lot more Ferris mowers on lawn trucks around Chattanooga. It seems like their popularity is growing even with professional, full-time lawn care companies.

      I wish that I had bought the 36"... I've had a few instances in which I could have used it behind a gate that I couldn't get my 52" through. That might be my next purchase.

      i put a tail gate ramp on 8ft bed truck. put a side truck box in bed for weed eaters and such. 36 fits in there like a charm with room for 21 and 32 gallon trash can for limbs. i found this was great at end of last season. less time messing with trailer and finding place to park

      they stripe great without kit.

      That is a great set up... Messing with the trailer is a hassle, but without rebuilding the back of my truck as a flatbed, I don't have an option. I looked at getting an Exmark 32 or 36 but they were the same price as the Ferris 52" hydro. Now that I have the hydro, I'm really glad I don't have a belt drive, but when I was mowing for other companies 99-00, they all had belt drives, so that is what I was used to. I don't think I can go back now. ha ha.

    That is a mean looking mower ! If I were your age I would give it a try but now days, I'm a rider guy ! LOL. Ferris makes a great stander. I watch a guy that just bought one this year and it is mows great. But like you said the price is a lot higher. I don't know what he paid for it but I'd guess 7 or 8 K. I missed what you said the FW25 runs probably less than that . Looks like a great machine as long as you don't mind hoofing it along behind. Is this the style machine you have always used ? I've never used one. Had a Whites Auto 20 inch special when I was a kid & mowed many yards for $ 1.75 with it ! 8 ) Yeah, that was stone age days ! LOL.

      I got mine for $3,950. That was at a pretty deep discount, though. I think they normally would have run $5,600-ish.I've use zero turns in the past, but when I was working for other companies, I was low man on the totem pole, so I was usually stuck with the weed whip and every once in a while I would get to use a walk behind. Where I'm at now (Chattanooga, TN) I only have a few properties that are flat. I know a zero turn can handle a lot of hills, but on most of my accounts, I would be getting out a push mower or walk behind for the steeper stuff.

    Still love it? About to head to my dealer to place an order on a 36" fw25.

      Hey Tyler, yes I still love it. If you aren't mowing large acreage then the 36" will be great. I've got 3 or 4 yards that I can't get the 52" in the backyard. If I had to do it again, I would buy the FW25 in the 36".

      andy122879 Order placed! Should have it in 5-10 days. Went with the 18.5 HP 36" and can't wait to get mowing. We've had rain here and I'm all caught up but I'm sick of push mowing all my yards. Have you wished you had a sulke for using the faster speed ?

    • @waldenmowing8364
      @waldenmowing8364  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyler Corelli I've thought about the sulke a few times, but when I bought mine I was really trying to keep my costs down so I didn't get it. Since mowing isn't my full time job, I don't really need it. if you do it all day, every day, I would go ahead and get it.
      you are going to love that 36". Congratulations on getting g caught up from all the rain. it took me a few weeks to dig out but now I'm picking up one or two extra jobs every day I go to mow.

    Hey does the speed control bar also dictate the reverse speed?

    • @andybrockman2503
      @andybrockman2503 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No... When you squeeze the handles halfway, it will stop, but if you squeeze them all the way down it will back up at full speed. I've hit myself where the sun don't shine once or twice.

    • @KF1
      @KF1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andybrockman2503Thanks for the explanation.
      And haha I could see that. Especially on a sulky at just that height.
      Built a slider similar to a proslide for my belt drive, it's nice to stay between the handlebars.
      Concerned about reverse speed when unloading. Could throttle down.
      Also, can I ask.. when reversing down a ramp or hill does the mower hold set speed or will accelerate/freewheel?

    what are the pedals for

    • @andy122879
      @andy122879 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simon, the pedals are used for slowing the machine down or stopping it. The black handle in the middle of the controls sets the speed for the transmission. To slow it down or stop it, you can either pull the black handle back or use your feet to push the pedals downs, which will cause the black handle to move back. It is just the second control point for the throttle.
