Plus, since they're both scientists and both have a history of going into Batman's Mind (Scarecrow in Kings of Fear, Hatter in BTAS), I can only imagine the psychological shenanigans they can do.
The two of them are usually a match pair due to their storybook counterparts feeling pretty closely connected (Mad Hatter - Alice in Wonderland, Scarecrow - Wizard of Oz)… Both books have a similar ebb and flow, and both characters from the books delve into the mind (Mad Hatter is insane, and Scarecrow wants to have a brain)… They balance each other out pretty well, Crane’s serious aura of fear is leveled out by the fantastical whimsy of Tetch… And Tetch’s insanity is leveled out by Crane’s focus and drive (he’s still crazy, but not lost in his own Wonderland, like Jarvis)
I love the idea for hugo strange and the character as a whole, I think the analysing the batman and make him admit he's not a hero works best for the scarecrow. Strange I think is better when goes to extreme lengths to prove not that batman is no hero and too brake him, but too prove that he is better than him and would be a better batman than him
I’ve always thought it would be more interesting for Langstrom to do his experiments on other people. I think it makes the whole “mad scientist” aspect of his character a lot more interesting, but I never even thought about him using it on his wife. That brings this whole extra layer of grossness to it, especially because the subtext implies he married her to cure her, when all it really was is this disgusting savior complex that he hoped would pay off.
See I will always prefer Langstrom as a sympathetic character, for a long period of time he was a bit of an anti-hero, trying to use his abilities to do good but struggling with his addiction to the Man-Bat serum and the literal insanity it brings. Someone who knows what he's doing is a bad idea but keeps justifying it to himself and ends up hurting people because of it. It also makes him a neat counter to Batman in that he wants to do what Bruce does, stopping criminals and the like, but he doesn't fully grasp the weight of the responsibility that comes with it.
@@l0u13__3 Maybe he starts running low on funds and turns to the mob or some Gotham gang who offer him money and "willing" test subjects, because who wouldn't want giant mutant bat-men as henchmen to use against Batman and rival crooks alike? But after a while the crooks start breathing down his neck and getting impatient with the slow progress and failed tests (can't use bat-henchmen that are dead, insane, or feral) so he resorts to testing on himself and finally perfects the process.
@@captaincomic8678 I also like that approach, and think it can be done incredibly well. But my first introduction to Man-Bat was through the 2004 show and I think it’s still the most effective to me. Someone that wants to be respected and feared, so he takes the modern legend of the Batman and bends it in order to achieve that goal. Batman does have a lot of sympathetic villains, and while Langstrom is often one of them, I think that concept is a bit more effective, since he’s a villain in a city that not only is bathed in fear, but thrives in it. Sympathetic Langstrom can always be done well, but anti-hero Langstrom feels a bit odd. His goal shouldn’t be to stop criminals or anything, only to get the ego boost he feels that h so justly deserves.
@@l0u13__3 I think that “last ditch effort” would be him trying to stop Bruce from destroying his research notes. He should be an outwardly altruistic figure, but in reality, all of the heinous acts he commits are for his benefit, and for his benefit alone. He wants his name on biology textbooks more than he ever wants to help people.
I liked all of these pitches, but I absolutely ADORED your idea for a Man-Bat storyline. I love how you made the narrative so thematically relevant to Batman's character.
@@natek4488 Yeah but this would be a whole other level. The Lizard was a Disabled Person trying to "Cure" Himself. Something that at least to me (Autistic me) is not super relatable. But to have a Faulty "Cure" forced onto you. That is Amazing
@@rimfire8217 well to be fair being deaf or missing an arm is a legit disability that would make it more difficult to live your life regardless of how society views or responds to you.
I absolutely love that pitch for Dick Grayson in the Reeves trilogy, it doesn't seem too forced or outlandish for this version of Bruce. It fits perfectly since he is still finding himself, so he sees this child who is now under his responsibility as a reflection of himself, and it can really nail the father-son relationship that Bruce and Dick have in the comics.
I think a great way to ground the Freeze suit in this universe would be to not make him wear it to stay cold, but literally to protect himself from his own weapon while he freezes people. Make it like a specialized low temp hazmat suit or something.
That could work. But instill feel like there still needs to be a life support aspect to the suite maybe instead of a bit glass helmet he can have a mask that helps him breath? That's a little too much like what Nolan did for bane but maybe they can make it distinctive.
Yeah functionally for the story it would serve the same purpose either way. Basically, if you ruin the suit, freeze can't function properly, Batman wins. I just don't think he needs the weird comic low temp survival thing going on, its sorta over the top and unnecessary. I think the best way to go about it is to make the suit seem like something he could believably have access to because of his cryo research which he then sort of builds from.
@@aureum7479 for sure, I think even with a realistic look, you could manage that with some sort of backpack setup, Like I imagine whatever sort of equipment he uses would be too big for just a gun sized device alone.
I really felt that argument about “realism” in Batman movies and villains. The Nolan movies already went with the hyper realistic angle. There’s so many cool villains that should NOT be grounded. Their outlandish concept is what makes them memorable
I think Hugo Strange can tie a lot of villains' stories together: Scarecrow and Harley Quinn in particular. They could all be colleagues working at Arkham, and Hugo may have inspired, or even encouraged, Jonathan Crane's experiments with fear, and Harleen Quinzel's study of the Joker. He could even be linked to Kirk Langstrom, with Kirk's Man-bat formula being used in his own experiments with the Monster-men. I could see Hugo Strange as Batman's Lex Luthor: a mastermind working indirectly and above the law, petty and desperate to prove that they are superior to their nemesis.
Hugo Strange could also help develop Mr. Freeze and Clayface as well and could have him tie into both characters through how Hugo makes people into "monsters", both physically and mentally.
I mean he’s been in other shit. A serial killer doing ritual murder with religious aspects. A person who can match Batman physically in a way other villains haven’t with a zeal to his mission just as strong as Bruce’s
If they strip back the whole secret society thing I could really see him as a killer with a sort of fixation on the bat and becoming just like him. Honestly he could be a good redheiring for Hush, one man tries to become Batman while the man trying to become Bruce Wayne bankrolls him to get him off his trail.
@@Eyecyou64 Now that's a combination I never saw coming, sounds like a great idea. Bonus points if Tommy Elliot is reaching out to Bruce now that he's back in the spotlight and it seems like they're setting him up for the sequel instead of pulling the strings behind Azrael.
Scarecrow and Man-Bat could easily be a double feature in one Movie. Pyg, Dollmaker, Zsasz or Cornelius Stirk, Pick 2, and Hugo Strange could also be in one film imo.
That’d actually be pretty interesting. The entire first half of the movie is centered around finding the bat creature that has been terrorizing people but then it’s revealed it was all just hallucinations caused by Scarecrow’s fear toxin in order to restore fear and hatred against the Batman.
I personally really like the idea of a Killer Croc origin story. We see the trauma that Waylon has been the victim of, from childbirth, all the way to when he moves to Gotham. How he constantly tries to be better, be good, but how he fails every time. Not because he is an inherently bad person, but because people perceive him as one. This can be used as a metaphor for racism, ableism or classism, as well as highlighting the psychological effects of constant stress, being perceived as a monster by everyone, never knowing what it is like to feel love. We see his mother die at childbirth. With no father in the picture, he gets pawned off to his aunt. As he gets older, scales start to grow on his skin. We see his aunt force him to scrub the scales off with a sponge. We see him be starved and imprisoned in the basement when he doesn't do so. We see him being relentlessly bullied by his peers. He doesn't get a chance at an education. He gets beaten to a pulp on the street by other teenagers. We see how much worse it is at home. Until finally, he snaps. We don't see the act. We see the corpse. Bones are twisted, turned in the wrong direction. A leg is missing. The jaw is only connected on one side. Most of the internal organs are gone. There's a hole in her chest. Where her heart should be, there's nothing. Nothing but a single tooth. In an attempt to find people that accepted him, Waylon started his journey. He started from his home in Florida and started to go north. Along the way, he sees a lot of people. They're not always friendly, but when they are, that stops when they are a good look at him. At a certain point, a policeman approaches him. As soon as he sees Waylon's skin. His eyes. His teeth. As soon as he sees him, he leaps backwards. The policeman pulls his gun out of the holster and points it at him. Waylon puts his hands in the air. He cooperates, but he still gets a bullet in his shoulder. Waylon bleeds. The bullet is stuck in his shoulder, but he doesn't know how to get it out. Everytime he moves his arm, it hurts. The pain becomes unbearable. He decides to dig the bullet out of his shoulder with his bare hand. His fingers are starting to turn into claws. Waylon subjects himself to an incredibly painful procedure to get that bullet out of his shoulder. He manages to get it out, but passes out from the pain. He wakes up the next day. He feels like he should be dead, but he isn't. Jones looks at his shoulder. It's completely healed. Scales cover the places where the bullet had entered his body. It looks as is the bullet wound was never there. A bruise, maybe, but definitely no bullet wound. As Waylon continues his trek, he comes across a circus. With no idea where to go, and no money to buy food, Waylon decides to join the circus. His scales have grown over his entire body. The man spent weeks with the circus, wrestling with crocodiles and alligators. He drew in quite the crowd. At night, however, his fellow circus acts abandoned him. He was lucky if he could sleep in a cage. He didn't enjoy it, but at least he could eat food. At least he wasn't starving. The moment that the director pulls out a whip, Waylon revolts. The burning feeling on his back wasn't new. It wasn't even as bad as the punishments his aunt used to give him for acting out of line. Or maybe he just developed thicker skin (literally). Waylon pulls the director into two pieces. His legs lay over a full meter from eachother. His lungs are in pieces, somewhere in the carnage that used to be the director. The eyes were undamaged. Just empty. Waylon continues making his way north. he keeps getting bigger. Stronger. More like a monster. If people saw him, they got as far away from him as they could. He didn't care. He just kept walking. Eventually, he makes it to Gotham. Waylon doesn't have much money, but decides to go to a cafe. The staff is terrified of him. A man comes to sit across from him. He introduces himself and intimates a conversation. The first real conversation that Waylon has had in years. He wasn't being commanded to do something, he wasn't being insulted or demonized, he was actually just talking to someone. As the conversation continues, the man invites Waylon to meet him the next day. He suggests a time and place and leaves the cafe. The next day, Waylon makes sure to be right on time. The man from the cafe arrives soon after, and they share a conversation as they walk a few blocks. Eventually, the man asks Waylon to help him with something. The man doesn't give any details, but Waylon accepts immediately, captivated by the man's charisma. They turn the corner, and arrive at a bank. The man pulls out a gun and enters the building. Waylon walks in after him, and they take all the money in the vault. The police arrive shortly afterwards. There is no way out. The man from the cafe tells Waylon to walk outside, and he obliges without protest. The man makes his escape through a back alley, while Waylon takes gunfire from the police. The bullets barely puncture his scaly skin. He flees, frightened by the pain and gunfire. The police are everywhere, so Waylon makes his way into the sewers, where he digs out every bullet that the cops shot into him. After days of staying in the sewers, too afraid to come out, his hunger drives him to leave the sewers. He manages to get some food, and always keeps his guard up. That is, until he meets her. She comes up to him and asks him how he's doing. He looked sad, so she wanted to check how he was doing. After their conversation, they go for coffee. They then decide to meet again. Waylon falls for her. He falls hard this is someone that sees him as Waylon, not as Killer Croc. Maybe the first ever. Eventually, she is killed in an botched bank robbery. She is shot in the stomach, while trying to help a child to get away from the robber. Waylon is a wreck. The only person who he had ever loved, the only person that ever loved him. Gone. Jones goes on a killing spree. He rips every murderer, rapist and thief limb from limb. Not for justice. For vengeance. He continues to do so, until he finds someone that confesses to the murder of his one love. The man from the cafe. Right as he is about to get his revenge, the Batman shows up. It was his one chance at revenge. It was his one chance at love. Both were taken away from him. He suffers in the sewers underneath Arkham. He gets no food. He survives on the rats. The garbage. Every now and again the guards throw him the corpse of one of Dr. Strange's failed attempts at monster men. Starving, he accepts it. He eats it. Not it. Him. The film closes with Waylon at his lowest point. He lost everything. He knows he deserves this. He's always been a monster to them. So that's what he became.
This is great! There's a Killer Croc comic (I forget where it's from, New 52 Batman and Robin I think) where he kills a bunch of cops in the sewers whilst flashing back to his life, showing how he got to where he was, the abuse he's suffered, with the ending revealing the cops were dirty, they killed another cop who threatened to expose them and dumped his body in the sewers. It turned out that cop was the only person to show Waylon kindness as a child, and he killed the cops out of revenge. After years failing as a criminal, he finally took the cops words to heart 'maybe you'll be a king one day' and he ends up forming a bond with the people living in Gotham's sewers who helped him trap the cops, who then gather with him as they give his dead friend an almost Viking style funeral in the sewers, with them accepting Waylon as he is chanting 'King Croc'. The entire comic Killer Croc doesn't say a word if I remember correctly, but it's an amazing short story.
I’d actually be interested in a Killer Croc Anti-Hero Story Maybe The actual villain is Hugo Strange and the Monster Man and Batman has to require help from Killer Croc who at the start of the film is a villain but only due to his trauma
I… I love this. Genuinely this is on par with the Man Bat pitch. The only downside is that I don’t think that the deaths will be as gory as you make them out to be to fit with the PG-13 rating.
I honestly really want to see the Mad Hatter as a main villain. The dude gives me the creeps and would fit perfectly with the horror vibe without doing anything we've already seen before.
I think starting to go in a slightly more 'fantastical' angle for Batman's foes is the best way for Matt Reeves to go. If I had one issue with Christopher Nolans trilogy is that it was so fixated on being realistic that it really limited the villains and stories they could've done. Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Mr Freeze, Man-bat, and Clayface wouldn't be the same without those fantastical elements.
I’ve always thought seeing Killer Croc in this universe would be cool, maybe have him do jump scares where he pops out of flooded parts of Gotham or the sewers
i feel like killer croc shouldnt have an entire movie just to himself, but make his appearance just super unexpectedly (like barely any revealing in a trailer, and just a vague mention at the begining of the movie when reading a magazine) and then during a sewer chase scene where batman chases a different well-known villain (that is the main villain of the movie) he ends up getting jumpscared by killer croc, and has to run for his life
A robin or maybe a bat-family pitch would be amazing to see. There’s so many characters from the bat-family who could have interesting and new introductions in a universe like this. I would especially love to see Batwing get his live action debut
I've given some thought as to how the Clayface movie could have Dick Grayson and Robin and further explore Batman's effect on Gotham. Let's say the man who blackmailed Basil Carlo into committing his crimes is Tony Zucco, and one of the things he forces Basil to do is kill the flying Graysons. Dick could be sent to an orphanage and becomes Robin on his own choice to find Carlo and Zucco. Maybe Batman and Robin chase Carlo into the factory/laboratory that the clay substance is made, and Robins anger leads to an accident that turns Carlo into Clayface.
I love Killer Moth as a character concept. To be honest I'd love to see James Gunn handle him, I genuinely think he's a great concept for a character with a lot of potential. He's a guy who sees himself as the anti-Batman, a hero for criminals, who basically gets hired as a distraction by dressing in a colorful costume for heroes to beat him up. I think that concept is pretty meta and interesting. In a world of super villains, no matter if you're a megalomaniac or an alien warlord, the only guarantee is you're likely going to be beaten by the hero, so why not try and profit off of it? It's a pretty pathetic way to live, but I think it could be made really interesting. Maybe he grew up in a neighborhood where people were failed by the system and crime was the only option, so he sees them as victims being unfairly punished and decides to step in and be a symbol for them, or so he thinks anyway. I think if he's presented not as a villain but someone with a misguided sense of nobility, he'd work in say another Suicide Squad film or even as the lead in a film or series about the c-list rogues of Gotham city. Speaking of which, I really hope we get lower-level villains in this universe, I'm talking the likes of Killer Moth, Crazy Quilt, Ten-eyed Man, Condiment King, all those guys, and I think there's an easy way to integrate them. I think a good way to pull that off is to have them feature in a similar sequence to the opening of the first film, where in that we saw a montage of criminals in masks committing petty crimes, I'm imagining a similar scenario but with them wearing goofy multicolored costumes that are incredibly comic accurate, tights and all, since they're literally made by small time criminals and they're not meant to be taken seriously, they're just dumb criminals in this universe and nothing more. All we'd need is to see Batman having caught some of them, or police stuffing them into the back of squad cars. I think that would work as a great opening not only to set up how the criminals in Gotham are changing, thus leading into bigger time villains like Freeze or Clayface, but it would also illustrate the influence the Riddler had on Gotham's criminals, now any one of them thinks they can be another crazy guy in a mask with a goofy name. They wouldn't be the type of criminals that they are in the comics, they'd basically just be brief easter eggs in the background, but I think it'd flesh out the world a lot. On a side note, if they were to do the Scarecrow again, I'd love a story where he gaslights Gotham (no pun intended) where it turns out there's no fear toxin, it'd be a fun twist that really emphasizes the idea that he's the master of fear as he himself technically does nothing to the city, and just lets Gotham tear itself apart.
@@interstellergrapefruit I always pictured the scenario as being he's a misguided but well-meaning guy who ends up on the team, survives the mission, but during it he loses some of his humanity. Things like him befriending squad members who die and him having to kill people which he's never done before, he'd basically be made a worse person by the mission, then whatever continuation would explore that aspect combined with the PTSD he has from the mission.
Yeah, I was thinking the same. I also think Eraser could be a good addition to this univere if given a modern twist. He cleans up crime scenes for criminals and mob bosses. It could be that his father was a crime boss, a manipulative crime bosses that has his son clean up murders, blood, and other things and that leads to Eraser gaining OCD at a young age. He doesn't want to do i, but he can't help himself. This goes on when he's an adult until he's confronted by Batman, who offers to get him medical help if he turns over his father
@@agentcooper194I actually had a similar idea for the Eraser. Also, I have some ideas for lesser known villains: Dr. Death: Karl Helfern is a scientist who worked on chemicals, and did jobs for companies like Shreck Industries and Wayne Enterprises. Eventually, he developed a drug that enhances strength: Venom (yep, he’d play a role on Bane’s use of venom). However, the board members of Wayne Enterprises, take the money, and fire him arrogantly, claiming they own his research. Angered and desiring vengeance, Helfern began working on a new drug called Viper, one similar to Venom, but kills people slowly. He tests it on random people, and when they show good results, he puts his plan on killing Gotham’s elite in action. However, he faces against Batman, who thwarts his plan by gassing the viper infected room with an antidote that he made, ruining Death’s chance at revenge. Even though he’s angry at Batman for ruining his plan, he accepts his fate of being locked in Blackgate. Polka-Dot Man: Abner Krill is a physicist who worked at Wayne Enterprises, specializing in a flamboyant molecule that looks like a polka dot, one that produces tremendous amounts of heat, and can power up a generator within seconds. However, when running a test, he gets infected with the dots, which contained an inter dimensional virus that forces him to expel his dots every 2 to 3 days (unless he chooses to expel them earlier on, something of which he learns later on). However, due to needing Bruce Wayne’s signature, and with Wayne not around to sign, he loses his job, his life, and his family disown him. He runs out of options to the point of deciding to become a criminal. When he meets Batman, he quickly wants to become a nemesis to him, wanting to make the most of being a criminal. However, Batman doesn’t take him seriously, and treats him as a normal criminal. When Polka-Dot Man does a heist on the Wayne Gala, he expects Batman to show up, but due to not knowing that Batman and Wayne are the same person, he thinks Batman doesn’t care. So, realizing being a villain will not work, he decides to break into Wayne Enterprises to go back to where the dot generator is at, and use it to try to find a cure, even if it means infecting himself with more dots to become powerful enough to go through security, and risking a whole city block to be blown up. Orca: Grace Balin, having a fascination with marine life, and began working in Wayne Enterprises’ environmental protection agency, specifically for sea life. However, she had a disorder that led to her having a stroke, leading to her getting paralyzed. She tried to continue her job without legs, but begins to become desperate to regain control of her legs, but the board of Wayne Enterprises refuse to fund it unless Bruce Wayne was there. Angered, she quit and left to research spinal cord tissue regeneration from orcas, leading to her creating a formula that could fix her paralysis. However, the side effects made her become a human orca. Because of this, she’s able to walk, but the cost was for her move out of Gotham after the people around her saw her as a freak. She became an assassin known as Orca to make a living as a criminal, and eventually fought Batman for a bounty on his head. Later, she teams up with Polka-Dot Man (the two having interacted once back when they were both normal) to get revenge on Wayne Enterprises. When Batman stopped them, Bruce told them that he’s setting up a lab at Arkham that could help cure them of their conditions. Abner and Grace are both thankful for Wayne, but still slightly skeptical, with Abner willing to try to make a cure for himself, but Grace refuses being cured, having accepted herself for who she is. While she is less hostile, she still remains a criminal, and also develops a friendship-attraction with Killer Croc, when the two’s cells are put next to each other. Condiment King, Zebra Man, and King Tut: it’s pretty simple for each of them. Jervis, before he becomes Mad Hatter, tests his mind control chips on three random people, and due to Jervis’ twisted thoughts, the three become zany, silver age like, villains of the week. Each are given something unique, Condiment King having, well, a costume and condiment weapons, Zebra Man having a magnet like suit he stole from a Waynetech area, and King Tut having an army of drug induced followers.
How bout for Scarecrow it’s “Fear of the Batman” because it sounds like your describing a phobia like acrophobia, fear of heights. It could have the fear toxins slowly turn everyone against Batman as they start to fear him more and more each night and it’s only a matter of time before they fully fear him.
I think clayface would be a great villain to introduce Bruce Wayne’s eccentric, philanthropic, playboy side. I don’t exactly have the details on how but I’d imagine it being something like clayface taking on the identity of bruce and maybe bruce having to find out who he really is and taking that part of his whole identity back from him all while investigating who this new character clayface really is. Idk just some random thing I thought about for all of 2 seconds. O actually wouldn’t it be better if clayface turned out to be someone Batman knew but he thought was dead? Actually maybe too cliche
Damn, these are all great pitches! I love Matt’s take on The Batman in the first film but I have to admit, the whole talk about keeping it “grounded” did disappoint me. Like you said, we’ve gotten that with Nolan’s trilogy, which I agree suffered from those limitations. With this new universe, there’s a chance to be more comic book-y and bombastic while still not going Shumacher levels of overboard. Realistically, I see the Hugo Strange pitch being the most likely of these but I would love to see Freeze set in the Christmas following the Riddler murders and Man-Bat would be legendary
Agreed. Honestly batman is at his best when he is fighting some really weird rogues and they aren't so concerned with keeping things "realistic." However I did love the more classic film noir style and tone for the first movie and I hope they find a way to continue with that in the sequels.
I think a movie focusing on Firefly would be interesting. I haven’t read any Batgirl leaks FYI, so if I say anything that was in Batgirl, then it’s pure coincidence. The Movie showing off a criminal who has the love of watching things burn as he finds joy in the flames from a fire. Batman would have to chase down this masked criminal who would keep on taking Jobs from Mob Bosses like the Penguin (and maybe introduce Black Mask in there) to burn down buildings to gain a profit and his own entertainment. Maybe there could be raised stakes in the climax where his target is Wayne Manor. This is just a rough idea though, I feel like there could be some expansion on this that I can’t provide immediately.
No matter how hard it is to take you seriously, you’ve quickly become one of my favorite TH-camrs. This is another great one! Love the way you really make it personal to Bruce. Looking forward to your “pre writing The Robin” video, it’s a bit clear you have way too many ideas to not go big on that video some day!
I'd love to see Mad Hatter in this universe. An easy murder mystery story would be possible (Hatter searching for his Alice), but since we got that with the first movie I had another idea. A trippy journey through the mind of Bruce and Dick Grayson with the imagery of wonderland. At first it'd start as minor hallucinations, things appear in the wrong place and Batman investigates random killing sprees taking place in impoverished neighbourhoods. The attacks don't seem to be motivated and residues of a strange chemical in their blood streams In the end its revealed that Jervis Tech, brilliant inventor at Wayne Tech with a childlike wonder, has been trying to bring happiness back to gotham after all they've been through, by sending them on a journey through wonderland. The experiments keep failing though, causing the riots and Batman's hallucinations
Mr. freeze is easily my favorite Batman villain. I totally agree with all of your pitches in this video! You’re very talented at storytelling with these characters. The college trilogy videos brought a tear to my eye by the end and this video is also fantastic!
That Manbat opening scene sounds like it would be so awesome and terrifying. I really love these pitch ideas and I’m wondering how you’d do Azrael, Killer Croc, or Punchline
Tbh they should have their own animated series in this universe, called the bat family, season 1 would be Dick Grayson, season 2 Barbara Gordon, season 3 Jason Todd, season 4 Tim drake. It would give us enough time to watch these characters grow. plus give people who animat for a living some work, I would love that idea especially if they do that one joker story line where he cuts his own face off.
I've heard a few people say that Cassandra Cain would fit in this universe more than Barbara and I totally agree, not only would her suit look fucking awesome but it would be her first time being in the batfam in live-action.
I read this story online called “The Batman: Into the Light” that was really good idea for the sequel, exploring some of the points you mentioned like the issues with Gotham’s system and the privilege of wealth and influence since it uses the Court of Owls/Talons as the primary antagonists and Bruce learning to step up as he takes on Dick Grayson as his ward. Sticking close to that plot would be a great sequel imo Edit: autocorrected Dick to Duck lmao
I personally have some ideas for the sequel too. Now test screenings for the first movie stated how the first Reeves movie gave off psychological horror vibes. But this sequel will give more of the horror vibe. Therefore, I personally think that in a sequel, there are TWO VILLAINS that would be perfect for Batman to face up against, which I’ll explain in my pitch. So here it goes: “Recently, on the news, there’s been a line a chains for new beauty/cosmetic products spreading around Gotham. But word has been getting out that there have been murders of many high profiled business people who all are being killed for strange reasons. The people are all linked to Roland Daggett, the business owner of the beauty chains, however no proof is shown that Daggett is behind the murders. But Bruce/Batman is still suspicious that Daggett is still not telling the truth about something. In the meantime, Matt Hagen, a famed actor is just getting off the set of filming and heading back to his room, when it’s revealed that he’s hiding a dark secret when his face while handsome in the films is deformed, due to a car accident, when nobody sees. He has a supply of beauty cream that is made by Daggett's company, where it's reveal that Daggett offered him a lifetime supply of it, in exchange for being a test subject for the cream when being prepared to sell out. The cream which was made by none other than Pamela Isley made from rare plants that have the ability to form into specific shapes. Isley however has other plans, where thru Batman's detective work realizes that it was her who murdered those people through her poisoning the beauty products, specifically lipsticks. Batman begins a mission to find what’s going on, and finds Isley's hideout, where we get some intense scenes when he arrives to investigate her place. But the area is filled with so many plants. Batman just so happens to touch one that it grasps him, to which we get a jump-scare and the plants attack him, causing either Batman to escape or personally meet Isley, who refers herself to Poison Ivy. Ivy's plan is revealed that she's attempting to murder all the people who deal with Daggett, including him, due to the fact that they've been destroying rare nature just to build their corrupt business which leads to Batman realizing that his theory is true about Daggett, being not who he seems. As it turns out, Daggett's business is rid with underground crime, laundering, and fraud. Daggett plans on take over many businesses, one of them being Wayne Enterprises, which Bruce/Batman doesn't realize yet. Daggett needs Hagen to join a gang to take on a hit for one of the businesses, and says if Hagen refuses he'll cut his supply off. So Hagen does so, but the hit attack goes south, and one witness recognizes Hagen, except claims that he looks like Bruce Wayne. With this information, there is a warrant out for Bruce Wayne’s arrest, forcing Bruce as Batman to flee and try to clear his name before things get out of hands. Meanwhile, Daggett has Hagen killed for what he did, as an attempt to avoid half measures. Hagen is presumably killed by being forced to swallow an entirely tank of the beauty cream formula and left for dead, only for his body to turn into clay. Hagen now has become a literal blob who can transform his shape (Imagine a live action version of Tetsuo's mutation (Akira) and Ditto (Pokemon) + the T-1000, but more scary.). Hagen swears revenge on Daggett, but when Poison Ivy hears about him, she decides to cut a deal with him, in which he helps her plan her murder several off the Gotham elites and make her plant growing spree, and she'll give him Daggett to kill. This can lead to a great showdown with some creepy imagery of Hagen (now called Clayface) and Poison Ivy's monstrous plants attacking the public, and an epic showdown with Batman fighting them. Not really too sure on how Bruce fights Ivy and her plants, but he does create special defense mechanisms for his suit in order to avoid her plants getting the best of him. The fight between Bruce and Clayface however becomes really scary as Bruce sees that Hagan can’t fully concentrate whenever he’s mutating (Leading to some imagery that gives off The Thing). But to some up in short, Batman ends up defeating both Clayface and Poison Ivy, but one of them manages to escape (More than likely Clayface), Daggett is arrested for his crimes, and Bruce Wayne’s name is cleared.” So there you have it. Basically, this movie can pay homage to 80s monster movies, like The Thing, The Fly and Little Shop of Horrors, mixed with Batman: The Animated Series where I got these stories from. This also sort of gives a more darker take on beauty products, (Though I’m not sure how they’re gonna be able to commercialize that. Like imagine the actress for Poison Ivy saying, “Try the new L’Oréal lipstick, where love can get TOXIC.” or the actor for Clayface advertising for a CHANEL face cream, and the commercial ends saying, “And check out the new Batman movie.”.). BUT WAIT- “There will be a mid-credit scene, with one of the villains on the run. But they happen to meet someone in the shadowy alleyways, who says that he’s been watching them, and offers his hand to them, which is revealed to be covered in bandages.”
I really want the third movie to be the Court of Owls. Building them up as the greatest threat this Batman will ever face. Finding out the city he's protecting as Batman and trying to revitalize as Bruce Wayne is being influenced and controlled by a secret society of Gotham's elite citizens, with some even being friends of the Wayne family. Introduce them and the fact that Bruce's great great grandfather, Alan Wayne, was murdered by the Court of Owls.
I'm a bit weird, but my first thought when helping Mr Freeze is, that it would also great for the big picture, since his freeze ray is a perfect peacekeeping weapon. Think about it: A handheld non-lethal weapon, that can still incapacitate a person quickly and also has some great utility.
Loved hearing you on Geeksplained! An idea I had was to, like Riddler, base Mr. Freeze off a real life killer, in this case being a hitman named Richard Kuklinski who was referred to as the Ice Man. Maybe this Mr. Freeze is a contract killer who’s doing hit jobs under the order/threat of a bigger force (Court of Owls, maybe?)
That is a Mr Freeze I can get behind! Maybe use the urban legend of stealing organs as a basis, someone that is maiming people but saving them by putting them in an ice bath, he’s killing these people on orders but going that extra step of harvesting organs to try save his wife, but freezing the victim after as he is not completely cold hearted
I could see that but honestly I don't think it works for Freeze. I could see Captain Cold in this universe to be like that but Mr Freeze is more of vengeance than anything
Dude you've fueled such a newfound appreciation for DC in me, I already loved Flash cus of his powers but I never realised how deep the characters in DC were til I started watching your vids. Please never stop, gives me chills every time I watch :D
Even though he isn't a traditional choice for Robin, I think the mayor's son would make a great choice for the character the first movie already kinda set it up quite a bit, he dresses as a ninja for Halloween, Batman shares in his trauma and there's a few scenes where he gives that sympathetic look to the kid probably giving him that extra motivation to track the riddler down, reminding him why he started to Batman journey in the first place it honestly sets up pretty well Also man-bat is by far one of my favorite villains and I loved the idea for it, I would also really really like to see scarecrow he's my favorite villain and has huge potential
The ending made me cry. I imagined Batman was real and he could help everyone with their problems. Thanks so much. The horror stuff genuinely made me glad I had my light on. See you later Bat People. By the ways that’s a compliment not an insult just wanted to clarify. I know my annoyingly long comments are stupid but their fun to make and I like expressing my ideas and hoping no one hates me because I have a different favourite Batman villain or something.
I like the idea of prefixes for each movie BUT what's gonna end up happening is people don't know which movie is in which order and they have to Google it
Madness of the Batman. With the Mad Hatter as your leading villain. Maybe even with a live-action big screen version of the animated episode "Perchance to Dream." One of my favorite episodes.
mixing the stories of man bat and clay face together could be amazing. have someone impersonate both sides of bruce and give him a feeling of an identity crisis. really explore the mental aspect of it
Nah, have the intro for clayface be a fakeout, where the first 20 mins we’re following “bruce” but he seems off, gradually, over time, in mannerisms and stuff until his face melts a tad, I think that’d be neato
Loved your pitches, the villains I want to see the most is Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Scarecrow, and The Court of Owls. I absolutely loved The Batman, it’s one of my favorite movies ever and I can’t wait for everything Reeves has planned.
For the cast list of each villain I kind of wound up drawing connections to the actors’ previous roles in a new light Mr. Freeze: Michael Grant Terry, who I know from bones would do well as maybe a more soft spoken and outwardly kind Victor who would have outburst of anger when confronted about what he was doing. For Clayface, Edward Norton is my pick, since after I saw him in Primal Fear I think it would be amazing to have a story structured like Face/Off around Pattinson acting like Norton acting like Pattinson, and I think he would sell the desperation of Carlo’s more human moments. And speaking of Face/Off Nicholas Cage as Langstrom(did I spell that right?) could give off the perfect balance of mildly unsettling while not seeming outright antagonistic or hostile, to further the whole red herring.
I want to see an Azrael live action adaptation so bad. They could use him impersonating the bat, as he usually does, and killing criminals instead of just beating the shit out of them. Although I do want to see the AzBat armor, I want to see him in his OG outfit even more, so perhaps both?
One idea I had for how to make a Superman film in this universe was about Clark Kent/Superman dealing with the Intergang after being asked to investigate them by his childhood friend and mayoral candidate, Lex Luther. However it’s all an elaborate plan by Luther to get rid of mayoral opposition and leader of intergang, Bruno Mannheim.
Hear me out, but a movie that features Scarecrow where we introduce Dick Grayson as Bruce fights his force fear, having a family again, literally with Scarecrow, and Metaphorically with Robin.
My new favourite trilogy for the “early era” of The Batman is: 1: The Batman (about how batman can be more than vengeance) 2: Face of The Batman (about how Bruce can also do so much for Gotham) 3: Flight of The Batman (about the metaphorical war between the personas, and how Bruce chooses to try and balance the both of them) I also just love your take on Man-Bat, and I’m absolutely going to steal it from now on because my god it’s good.
I honestly would love to see Mr. Freeze as the main villain in The Batman sequel. I agree the title should be called Heart of The Batman based on Heart of Ice from Batman TAS. Not only would I want this movie to be based on Heart of Ice from Batman TAS, but also Batman: Subzero. Plus, I would love to see the movie take place during the Holiday season and have the GCPD blimps like in the animated series, because of the flooded lakes being frozen and it’s fucking dangerous driving on ice. I would love to see Batman update his suit to a more blue and grey based on the DC Rebirth comics and I also would love to see him use Batarangs in the sequel. For Mr. Freeze’s suit, I would love it to be a mix of a bomb suit, an old diver suit, with a more hazmat look but a bit more like cryogenic protective suit and a comic accurate suit with the goggles and freeze ray. Also for the role of Mr. Freeze, I would love to see Giancarlo Esposito, Ralph Fiennes, or Bryan Cranston.
Bro I've said this a billion times and nobody has listened. Not a SINGLE person has brought up bane, but they basically showed off venom at the end of The Batman. Like actually Bane is being handed to us on a silver platter and nobody is noticing it. Actually bro like I just want somebody to see this cause I genuinely wanna see this in live action 😭.
There’s an actor that I think would be fit for either Strange or Freeze. Giancarlo Esposito. We’ve seen him portray going to drastic lengths to protect his loved ones in Kaleidoscope, which works for Freeze, but also Gus Fring in Breaking Bad shows a downright evil personality who would go to any lengths to get what he wants, and that works with Strange.
Totally agree with his take on Joker in the Reeves verse. It'd be great for him to appear in each movie- still behind bars- but someone who is like an equal to Bruce who helps him with cases (like in the deleted scene) but always tempts him and is meant to symbolize what Bruce could become if he ever crossed that line. Using Joker as more of a metaphor of Bruce's fears throughout this whole trilogy would be pretty clever imo
I would love to see Anarky in this universe. Someone who is inspired by Batman and becomes a copycat vigilante, tagging the aftermath of his antics with the anarchy symbol to let people know it's not Batman doing this. However, Lonnie doesn't just go after normal criminals, he begins going after bigwigs. Corrupt politicians, business owners, and cops. Possibly even have him go after Ferris Boyle, perhaps he activates the bat signal to get a meeting with Batman, wanting to form an alliance with him, however he declines and tells him to stop doing what he's doing before he has to bring him in. Maybe even have a situation where the two of them have to team up to stop a bigger threat. I could genuinely go on and on and on about Anarky as a character and how he could be done. Like I'm done writing now, but if anyone wants me to go on about a specific topic, I'll go on.
I've had an idea for Scarecrow. He is a petty drug dealer who sells a special substance that he himself has made and brewed. The hallucinations people get when they take the drug makes them see something horrifying. It goes so far that people who use the drug start dying and Batman having to investigating. Some of it doesn't make a whole tone of sense but it's something I think would be interesting.
I've always seen Mr Freeze as an Arabic man, from the first time I watched Heart of Ice as a kid. Michael Ansara gave him such incredible life and heart (harhar, I know) and soul and tragedy and love and pain and mystery. And so many people cite Freeze's reinvention in the show, but rarely acknowledge the performer. So, for me, it would be nice to cast Mr Freeze as Arabic, to echo Ansara. Plus, diversify, it can open worlds for audiences that they might not experience otherwise. And it'd help fight the typecasting Arabic actors get in the mainstream. A beloved, tragic, multidimensional Batman villain/supporting character? Incredible! Now I don't know many Arabic actors, sadly, but if I had to swing and try one now, either Shaun Toub or Oded Fehr. Yinsen from Iron Man, and Ardeth Bay from The Mummy respectively. Terrific actors, they got the range and have experience on big budget movies. And are around about the ages I'd picture :) These two are just an example, so please share if you got any other choices! I'd love to hear em!
Dude- I'm loving your pitches. I especially love the fact that you're matching characters to create conflicts that impact Bruce/Batman's overall character arc. Have you decided on the over arching structure of this franchise? My mind defaults to putting in "phases" that concentrate on different era's of the Bat-verse containing about four movies and a grouping of streaming shows. Eg: Phase 1- Batman years 1-6 , phase 2- Batman & Robin, phase 3- Birth of the Bat Family (Batgirl, Jason Todd), phase 4- A death in the family/ Drake... etc. I mean, that's the way my mind sees a viable roadmap. How would you do it? On the assumption that this is a Batman centric franchise that concentrates on Gotham's heroes and villains, all branching out from The Batman.
My personal number one choice is still Mad Hatter I think he would be such a different and interesting antagonist for this Batman, seeing him deal with mind control and hostage situations where he has to choose how to save Otherwise I would love to see Scarface and the Ventriloquist, a very interesting duo presenting a unique challenge to Batman as he tries to save Wesker from himself, really focus on this idea that in this film Batman is becoming the Knight After all, the first film was about vengeance, so a sequel becoming a knight fits, then he can finally become the Batman as an homage to that famous mantra Love your pitches, Hugo Strange is my favourite of yours, there are so many different directions this universe could go I would love to see just about anything, the only villain I absolutely do not want to see is Joker. I know he exists in the world but leave him on the bench, give the other rogues a chance to shine, we have some that need on screen redemption still (Freeze and Ivy in particular) and others that need their first big screen interpretation (Prometheus and Firefly would be a great duo for example and especially Mad Hatter)
Sal over at comic pop mentioned this but a villain I’d love to see is Deacon Blackfire. He’s not very famous and most people only know him from Arkham Knight which wasn’t a good showing of who he is. Batman The Cult is basically the comic that did the Gotham under siege story first and it’s also Batman being brought down low.
Absolutely love the idea of Man-Bat. We saw how freaked out he was at beating a guy to pulp after recognizing his mistake. Now imagine a more news and morally compassed Bruce absolutely horrified at the innocent people being gore-ly eaten
The ending of the movie feels like a prime opportunity to make a story inspired by no man's land, or for killer croc to be introduced as a physical threat
Paul Bettany as Mr Freeze John Hamm as Clayface Giancarlo Esposito as Hugo Strange Cillian Murphy as Harvey Dent/Two-Face Rami Malek as Scarecrow John Carol Lynch as Professor Pyg Alan Tudyk as Killer Moth Doug Jones as Kirk Langstrom And finally… Jennifer Ferrin as Francine Langstrom These are all my choices. Let me know who guys would pick for the villains.
another idea for the scarecrow pitch could be that Crane took over the drops business (after the events of the first movie) in order to test his fear toxin on the public, he could possibly use drop heads as the first test subjects....also like the small Victor Zazz cameo in one of the pitches, I feel like the films could introduce other smaller batman villains just as small time criminals
I really wanna see clay face EVENTUALLY in this universe. With what they did with clay face in recent years by making him a real person he’s got so much potential. He’s got the strength of hulk, body manipulation of sandman, and disguise (and acting) of chameleon. So much potential never shown on screen.
My ideal pitch for the next movie in the series is For Bruce to be confronted by a twisted reflection of what he is, what he stands for so Mr Freeze & Clayface (overcome by vengeanc) or Man-Bat, Ra’s Al Ghul & Bane as a more direct totem of reflection
I would love to see Firefly. TB established that Bruce has this obsession/ addiction of being Batman and the sequel could show us the dangerous site of this obsession, similar to TDK „Know your limits, Master Wayne“ situation. Firefly would be the perfect way for Bruce to learn this since he is so obsessed with fire and watching things burn down that his own body is covered by burn scars. He would also work really well for the worldbuilding as he fits perfectly into the No Mans Land state of Gotham or could be a hired gun for the crime families. Also, if they focus on the destroyed Gotham, I would love to see Anarky. He would be the perfect antithesis to Bruce who embodies Law and Order and would work perfectly with the setting. I could definitely see a team up between him and Firefly where they both work together as Firefly wants Gotham to burn and Anarky wants the chaos. If they focus on the power vacuum of the underworld, I would love to see Black Mask as a rival to the Penguin.
If they do a clayface movie they should include all the legacy clayfaces in it, it’s so hard to make a Batman mystery film because we know from the source material who the killer is so having all the clay boys in there would shed some doubt maybe Basel Carlo gets killed at the start then the rest are picked off one by one and at the end it was a nobody who was really Carlo who faked his death
The idea that I always thought was cool. In the first movie Batman described that he uses fear as a tool. Here we can introduce Scarecrow, a villain that uses fear as a weapon against Batman.
For scarecrow I feel that a storyline with him infecting others through the drug dropheads would be sick and could provide commentary on various events in history where certain people were experimented on through various means
I still think there's lots of opportunity in the land of the semi-real that brings a real spirit of the comics - Professor Pig, Scarface and the Ventriloquist, the Mad Hatter, Bane, CALENDAR MAN!
I think a robin movie would be amazing,or at least a Batman movie that has the Bafam as prominent roles but still focuses on Bruce’s story.also I’m loving what your doing with the titles
This is a really insane idea that I doubt they'll actually do, but I honestly think Rhea Seehorn could do a fantastic female version of Harvey Dent. She was fantastic in Better Call Saul and has a huge range as an actress, and her character is someone who also struggles with duality and with the desire to do good and evil. I feel like she'd be perfect to portray Dent's tortured mind and to portray both an idealistic district attorney, and an unhinged killer.
My pitches: •Kill The Batman-Professor Pyg •Darkness Of The Batman-The Phantasm is the main villain •Time Of The Batman-Clock King and Vintroloquist is the main villain •Who Is The Batman?- Hush, King Tut, and Zodiac Master are the villains
This vid gets me so excited for the future of this whole Batman universe, it can go so many ways and the fact it has its own universe being made is awesome please make a Robin pitch your pre-writes have been amazing especially the spider man one
Yes, could'nt agree more, I've always thought Henry's Superman deserved better and now with his long awaited return. Although we don't know what's in store for his Superman and the new direction they'll be taking him, or whether we'll be getting a continuation of Man of Steel or a soft reboot. Regardless I pray whoever directs it has big plans for Superman as the character deserves an entire saga of Superman films. Not to mention develop Henry's Clark Kent as he was just starting out as Superman last we saw him, I hope wee aalso expand and explore Superman's world, give Metropolis a retro futuristic 1960s bright ecstatic, and make Metropolis as a character as Gotham is. In addition to developing classic characters like Lois, Jimmy, Perry, Ma Kent, Luthor etc... I also pray they truly give more of Superman's vastly underrated rogue's gallery a lot more spotlight by truly giving us new villains like Metallo, Parasite, Brainiac, Lobo, Manchester Black & The Elite, Mr Mxyzptlk, Bizarro etc....
@@milkiassamuel780 I wonder if he could rewrite Superman Returns because I thought of using Mongul as the villain because of the Video games, the Father and Son theme and What happened to the man who had everything.
I really like mr. Bloom as concept for batman villain. Yeah, maybe it's not the most original, mad scientist turned into monster, and not the most popular villain & story arc, but they could make him more of a body horror movie with trippy colorful tone. It would be pretty different I think in terms of color tone, but the vibes of dark detective action would still be there. Especially, now under Gunn's leadership at DC, more obscure characters could be fun. At least, cameo of condiment king
Giancarlo Espesito as Mr Freeze Brendan Fraser or Simon Pegg as Clayface Ben Kingsley as Hugo Strange Willem Defoe as Kirk Langstrom Hugh Lawrey as Scarecrow Josh Gad as Professor Pyg And how about Keanu Reeves as Killer Moth, he's Killer Moth, he deserves the best.
I love this video format and think it’s a cool deviation from your general pre write videos (not to say I don’t adore those too). I’d love to see more pre write videos with multiple short form segments detailing all the ways you think the story could go.
Out of all the villians I want to see Scarecrow the most. The version I would want would be more akin to the Arkham games, he isn't just doing experements, he has fully mastered his craft and wants to break Batman.
I really like the realistic atmosphere of the film. Maybe that's why, sadly, we won't be able to see some villains that wouldn't work well since part of their essence is something unreal (Mr. Freeze wouldn't be Mr. Freeze without that state that forces him to live in sub-zero temperatures, for example). example). But here I have a few ideas of how some of these villains could be adapted. Scarecrow. His clothing is just rags, he wears a bandana with a sinister smile because that was the design when he bought it, and a huge straw hat. For his fear toxin, he mostly uses syringes and is still experimenting to perfect his formula. Mad Hatter. A scientist who loves the Alice in Wonderland book and is an expert in neuroscience. When he begins his crimes, he discovers that the best way to hide the device that allows him to control his devices is with hats, so he starts wearing top hats like the Hatter from the book that he admires so much. Ventriloquist. Fortunately it is not necessary to make many changes. The poor guy is a schizophrenic who commits crimes. What I would change is that it is very rare to see him next to the doll. He always leaves him sitting and pretending that the doll is talking to him. Scarface's personality is cruel and the closest thing to a true unscrupulous underworld boss. If he has any henchmen other than Wesker, they don't know that Scarface is a dummy, but the Ventriloquist's skill is so good and the results are enough to convince them to obey without asking questions about who the mysterious boss is. Poison Ivy. I've always liked the TAS version of Batman where she's a scientist, not a human-plant hybrid with powers. She could be a botanist specializing in rare, very rare or practically extinct plants. For her crimes, she would use poisons from less common plants, so it would be very difficult or even impossible to obtain an antidote.
My villain predictions: The heart: Mr freeze The face: Clayface The mind: Hugo Strange The flight: Kiteman Edit: Scarecrow: Fear of the Batman Pyg: anguish of the Batman Killer moth: Night of the batman
Mr freeze and clay face are in the thumb nail so that’s not really a prediction, but the other ones are good unless the mind is the court of owls even though that was the Batman 2 prewrite and the flight could also be man bat, but it’s funnier to think about live action kite man being a main antagonist😂
I personally love the grounded realism. I think killer croc can be done without being an actual croc. The flooded setting will be a perfect callback to his past incarnations. A man is drove to insanity after being trapped in a flooded building, resulting in him committing cannibalism and reflecting the pain inflicted on himself by taking out his frustration on those who did him wrong, mirroring Bruce and making him question his morality as Batman, as his brutality still shows, even as a symbol of justice.
Love the pitches! Personally as far as casting goes, I’d love to see Bryan Cranston as Mr. Freeze and Jon Hamm as a pre transformation Matt Hagen, you know, to really lean into the leading man type thing at first to make his transformation into Clayface all the more shocking. Also they shouldn’t show his final Clayface form in the trailer or any of the marketing. Just shots of him partially transformed.
I still think a mad hatter / scarecrow pairing would be so cool, have like scarecrow’s fear gas makes Batman hallucinate wonderland scenes
When I think of Hugo strange I think of Joseph Mengele
imo Mad Hatter is easily one of the most forgetable batman villians. Would love to see him work his way into the next movie or a show
Plus, since they're both scientists and both have a history of going into Batman's Mind (Scarecrow in Kings of Fear, Hatter in BTAS), I can only imagine the psychological shenanigans they can do.
The two of them are usually a match pair due to their storybook counterparts feeling pretty closely connected (Mad Hatter - Alice in Wonderland, Scarecrow - Wizard of Oz)… Both books have a similar ebb and flow, and both characters from the books delve into the mind (Mad Hatter is insane, and Scarecrow wants to have a brain)…
They balance each other out pretty well, Crane’s serious aura of fear is leveled out by the fantastical whimsy of Tetch… And Tetch’s insanity is leveled out by Crane’s focus and drive (he’s still crazy, but not lost in his own Wonderland, like Jarvis)
What if he starts on other people but instead as a last ditch effort he starts to use it on himself
Dude that twist of making “man” bat langstrum’s wife was fucking genius and even in a quick pitch had my jaw on the floor that was absolutely genius
I actually thought he took that from some Official DC thing.
It is amazing

I liked all of these pitches, but I absolutely ADORED your idea for a Man-Bat storyline. I love how you made the narrative so thematically relevant to Batman's character.
That's definitely his best pitch.
Ableism isn't a common subject in comic book movies. There was the Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man, and Daredevil.
@@natek4488 Yeah but this would be a whole other level. The Lizard was a Disabled Person trying to "Cure" Himself. Something that at least to me (Autistic me) is not super relatable.
But to have a Faulty "Cure" forced onto you. That is Amazing

Deathstroke, in my opinion, is more of a DC universe guy then Batman, like in newer stuff hes mostly like teen titans, suicide Squad guy etc.
@@dash._.cube._. yeah you can’t forget Kite Man
I absolutely love that pitch for Dick Grayson in the Reeves trilogy, it doesn't seem too forced or outlandish for this version of Bruce. It fits perfectly since he is still finding himself, so he sees this child who is now under his responsibility as a reflection of himself, and it can really nail the father-son relationship that Bruce and Dick have in the comics.
I really hope we get a sequel that is just about Bruce learning to let people in and become a father to dick Grayson.
Agreed, it seems like just what this universe needs. I love The Batman, and I'd love to see this version of Batman have a Robin.

@@brennankrahn4507 😐..... Wait that's not a bad idea 😅
A modified astronaut suit could also work
A modified Hazmat suit could be cool, imo the best design was in Arkham Knight.
Instead of a Freeze Gun the Weapon could be built into Freeze’s suit
Hugo Strange could be essentially the big Bad of all of this
I can also see him having something to do with a hypothetical bane or ivy
Man, making Hugo Strange the Nemesis of this Batman would be really fun.
The flight of the Batman is probably one of if not THE best pre-write you’ve done. Reeves does anything similar I hope it’s something like that.
I'd LOVE to see Azrael done in this universe. It would have to be a bit later to fit with the whole Knightfall timeline but I want it nonetheless.
Yea Azarel would be kl even anarchy would be look as well. I like his origins a lot
Michael Lane Azrael goat
Scarecrow and Man-Bat could easily be a double feature in one Movie.
Pyg, Dollmaker, Zsasz or Cornelius Stirk, Pick 2,
and Hugo Strange could also be in one film imo.
Birthday boy as well
That’d actually be pretty interesting. The entire first half of the movie is centered around finding the bat creature that has been terrorizing people but then it’s revealed it was all just hallucinations caused by Scarecrow’s fear toxin in order to restore fear and hatred against the Batman.
They were actually gonna be in Batman Unchained
If Scarecrow appears in a sequel, I could see him using the “Drops” established in the first film as a starting point for his fear toxin.
The drops even seemed to have that Scarecrow like face on them already, or maybe that’s a coincidence
Really cool idea though
I always assumed the drops were a hint at Scarecrow
Now that episode 3 of the penguin is out, the drops are even more powerful than ever before.
I really hope this Batman universe lives long enough for us to see Jason, Tim, Damien, etc.
Dude this is incredible! I could totally see this work on-screen. He's my favourite Batman villain, and I'd love to see him in a live action movie.
Bro, this is actually amazing!
I’d actually be interested in a Killer Croc Anti-Hero Story
Maybe The actual villain is Hugo Strange and the Monster Man and Batman has to require help from Killer Croc who at the start of the film is a villain but only due to his trauma
Mad Hatter along with the Scarecrow. That would be the ultimate deadly duo.
Seeing how scary this movie made the riddler makes me so excited to see what they could do with some of the other Batman villains
I’ve always thought seeing Killer Croc in this universe would be cool, maybe have him do jump scares where he pops out of flooded parts of Gotham or the sewers
i feel like killer croc shouldnt have an entire movie just to himself, but make his appearance just super unexpectedly (like barely any revealing in a trailer, and just a vague mention at the begining of the movie when reading a magazine) and then during a sewer chase scene where batman chases a different well-known villain (that is the main villain of the movie) he ends up getting jumpscared by killer croc, and has to run for his life
@@LeafertonMaybe have it be a Court of Owl story where he’s a paid assassin or one of Penguin’s new hired muscle
I would love to see Michael Fassbender as Mr Freeze, he could land the sympathetic yet unhinged nature of him so well
I was thinking Bryan Cranston, but Fassbender would be fucking awesome. Cranston could also pull off Hugo Strange imo. Or Hugo Weaving
I totally agree, he would kill it
I know this is late, but hear me out: Patrick Stewart as Mr. Freeze
@@DylanHuttoA bit of a left field pick but I think Dave Bautista would be a phenomenal Hugo Strange
@@gavo7911 Honestly, it's so out there that I love it. Good choice.
Love all of this, especially agree with Killer Moth in the suicide squad.
Also, I have some ideas for lesser known villains:
Dr.
Each are given something unique, Condiment King having, well, a costume and condiment weapons, Zebra Man having a magnet like suit he stole from a Waynetech area, and King Tut having an army of drug induced followers.
would absolutely love to see professor pyg, dollmaker, and man bat in a movie - an all out psychological horror film
The attacks don't seem to be motivated and residues of a strange chemical in their blood streams
In the end its revealed that Jervis Tech, brilliant inventor at Wayne Tech with a childlike wonder, has been trying to bring happiness back to gotham after all they've been through, by sending them on a journey through wonderland.
I think it could be cool to do pitches for the bat family in this universe?
Tbh they should have their own animated series in this universe, called the bat family, season 1 would be Dick Grayson, season 2 Barbara Gordon, season 3 Jason Todd, season 4 Tim drake. It would give us enough time to watch these characters grow. plus give people who animat for a living some work, I would love that idea especially if they do that one joker story line where he cuts his own face off.
@@shadow-gr4iw yooo that sounds sick
Yesssss
I've heard a few people say that Cassandra Cain would fit in this universe more than Barbara and I totally agree, not only would her suit look fucking awesome but it would be her first time being in the batfam in live-action.

I really want a scarecrow and Mad Hatter team up for the villans. Also I'd love to be able to play the Scarecrow
Sticking close to that plot would be a great sequel imo
Edit: autocorrected Dick to Duck lmao
I personally have some ideas for the sequel too. Now test screenings for the first movie stated how the first Reeves movie gave off psychological horror vibes. But this sequel will give more of the horror vibe. Therefore, I personally think that in a sequel, there are TWO VILLAINS that would be perfect for Batman to face up against, which I’ll explain in my pitch. So here it goes:
“Recently, on the news, there’s been a line a chains for new beauty/cosmetic products spreading around Gotham.
But to some up in short, Batman ends up defeating both Clayface and Poison Ivy, but one of them manages to escape (More than likely Clayface), Daggett is arrested for his crimes, and Bruce Wayne’s name is cleared.”
So there you have it. BUT WAIT-
“There will be a mid-credit scene, with one of the villains on the run. But they happen to meet someone in the shadowy alleyways, who says that he’s been watching them, and offers his hand to them, which is revealed to be covered in bandages.”
Can’t wait to see the Condiment King and Mr Freeze crossover where Condiment King orders extra Fries
Even though he isn't a traditional choice for Robin, I think the mayor's son would make a great choice for the character the first movie already kinda set it up quite a bit, he dresses as a ninja for Halloween, Batman shares in his trauma and there's a few scenes where he gives that sympathetic look to the kid probably giving him that extra motivation to track the riddler down, reminding him why he started to Batman journey in the first place it honestly sets up pretty well
Also man-bat is by far one of my favorite villains and I loved the idea for it, I would also really really like to see scarecrow he's my favorite villain and has huge potential
When you said “Flight of the Batman” I thought you were talking about Kite-Man, now I’m really disappointed
For the cast list of each villain I kind of wound up drawing connections to the actors’ previous roles in a new light
Mr.
Year late, but who would you cast as Francine Langstrom/Man-Bat?
Toyman would be perfect to have his own movie?
@@srstriker6420 Ooh, that would be great!
Hear me out, but a movie that features Scarecrow where we introduce Dick Grayson as Bruce fights his force fear, having a family again, literally with Scarecrow, and Metaphorically with Robin.
Damn you're cooking. That sounds cool
I adore your pitches, man, would love to see these turned into full videos
My new favourite trilogy for the “early era” of The Batman is:
1: The Batman (about how batman can be more than vengeance)
2: Face of The Batman (about how Bruce can also do so much for Gotham)
3: Flight of The Batman (about the metaphorical war between the personas, and how Bruce chooses to try and balance the both of them)
I also just love your take on Man-Bat, and I’m absolutely going to steal it from now on because my god it’s good.
Ralph Fiennes would be perfect.
Giancarlo Esposito is definitely my pick for Mr. Freeze. All the villains I would want is Mr. Freeze, Hush, Clayface and Bane
He’s way too old for Freeze too
Totally agree with his take on Joker in the Reeves verse.
A Robin pitch is definitely something I’d like to see! You never disappoint with your pitches!
The one Robin is introduced should be called "Dick of the Batman"
And are around about the ages I'd picture :)
These two are just an example, so please share if you got any other choices!
My personal number one choice is still Mad Hatter I think he would be such a different and interesting antagonist for this Batman, seeing him deal with mind control and hostage situations where he has to choose how to save
Otherwise I would love to see Scarface and the Ventriloquist, a very interesting duo presenting a unique challenge to Batman as he tries to save Wesker from himself, really focus on this idea that in this film Batman is becoming the Knight
After all, the first film was about vengeance, so a sequel becoming a knight fits, then he can finally become the Batman as an homage to that famous mantra
Love your pitches, Hugo Strange is my favourite of yours, there are so many different directions this universe could go I would love to see just about anything, the only villain I absolutely do not want to see is Joker. I know he exists in the world but leave him on the bench, give the other rogues a chance to shine, we have some that need on screen redemption still (Freeze and Ivy in particular) and others that need their first big screen interpretation (Prometheus and Firefly would be a great duo for example and especially Mad Hatter)
Would be fun to see something like this for different Superman villains for the next Cavill film
Dave Bautista would rock as Freeze! also Javier Bardem as Hugo Strange with Doug Jones as Man-Bat would be sick asf
I feel like Hugo is a good character, but maybe not for the second movie. I’d wait for more villains to be introduced for him to manipulate.
Paul Bettany as Mr Freeze
John Hamm as Clayface
Giancarlo Esposito as Hugo Strange
Cillian Murphy as Harvey Dent/Two-Face
Rami Malek as Scarecrow
John Carol Lynch as Professor Pyg
Alan Tudyk as Killer Moth
Doug Jones as Kirk Langstrom
And finally… Jennifer Ferrin as Francine Langstrom
These are all my choices. Let me know who guys would pick for the villains.
Alan tudyk as Killer Moth is an inspired choice
@@interstellergrapefruit Well, thank you
another idea for the scarecrow pitch could be that Crane took over the drops business (after the events of the first movie) in order to test his fear toxin on the public, he could possibly use drop heads as the first test subjects....also like the small Victor Zazz cameo in one of the pitches, I feel like the films could introduce other smaller batman villains just as small time criminals
I really wanna see clay face EVENTUALLY in this universe. With what they did with clay face in recent years by making him a real person he’s got so much potential. He’s got the strength of hulk, body manipulation of sandman, and disguise (and acting) of chameleon. So much potential never shown on screen.
I always said that Tobin Bell would make a great Mr. Freeze, I would love to see him play the character with the respect and seriousness he deserves
Mr Freeze just makes so much sense. Right after watching The Batman, Mr Freeze was the first villain who came to mind for the sequel.
9:55
Holy Musical B@tman 🤝 Lego Batman Movie
Alfred brings the Orphan home and Forces Bruce to adopt the little fella
Oh, she’d be PERFECT as female Harvey Dent
My pitches:
•Kill The Batman-Professor Pyg
•Darkness Of The Batman-The Phantasm is the main villain
•Time Of The Batman-Clock King and Vintroloquist is the main villain
•Who Is The Batman?- Hush, King Tut, and Zodiac Master are the villains
I seriously do not envy Matt Reeves on writing this next film. I literally can't choose any of these pitches above another.
That’s why it’s going to take a very long time they said the earliest date for the Batman 2 as if now is 2025
This vid gets me so excited for the future of this whole Batman universe, it can go so many ways and the fact it has its own universe being made is awesome please make a Robin pitch your pre-writes have been amazing especially the spider man one
I really hope they a Superman Universe movie series reboot with Henry Cavill alongside The Batman Universe. Superman needs more love ❤️
Lex luthor spin off will be awesome
I really like mr. Bloom as concept for batman villain. Yeah, maybe it's not the most original, mad scientist turned into monster, and not the most popular villain & story arc, but they could make him more of a body horror movie with trippy colorful tone. It would be pretty different I think in terms of color tone, but the vibes of dark detective action would still be there. Especially, now under Gunn's leadership at DC, more obscure characters could be fun. At least, cameo of condiment king
Fantastic video. Good editing and the ideas were interesting.
Giancarlo Espesito as Mr Freeze
Brendan Fraser or Simon Pegg as Clayface
Ben Kingsley as Hugo Strange
Willem Defoe as Kirk Langstrom
Hugh Lawrey as Scarecrow
Josh Gad as Professor Pyg
And how about Keanu Reeves as Killer Moth, he's Killer Moth, he deserves the best.
Man, I want to see Man Bat SÓ FREAKING BAD. It's one of my favorite characters.
Same, I loved the portrayal in Arkham Asylum
My villain predictions:
The heart: Mr freeze
The face: Clayface
The mind: Hugo Strange
The flight: Kiteman
Edit:
Scarecrow: Fear of the Batman
Pyg: anguish of the Batman
Killer moth: Night of the batman
Mr freeze and clay face are in the thumb nail so that’s not really a prediction, but the other ones are good unless the mind is the court of owls even though that was the Batman 2 prewrite and the flight could also be man bat, but it’s funnier to think about live action kite man being a main antagonist😂
@@sagemage6599 I know they’re in the thumbnail, but if you look at his community post, I also said them there, before the video was out.
@ holy cow that’s about of this world u right
@@sagemage6599 it could be bane. He’s a master planner and that green liquid was in the irl first one.
