Only Brian Shaw would look so defeated trying to pull the weight of a male elephant. I think this event will be tough for active competition because Brian just retired recently. It's not like he started skipping meals or days in the gym.
@@josephdover198 Agree, what he demonstrated there was probably too hard for competition. He is one of the best arm-over!arm pullers in the world, so his performance would be on the high end of the competitors could do.
Kerry is a fucking g. You can tell they’re best friends before soulmates, with chirpin like that you know that’s no ordinary love. Only when your mans is so buff he can literally lift anything that when he doesn’t you’re like wow ok so it is heavy 😂
@@josephdover198 it might even out, brian's lost weight and is retired..working on grip and armwrestling, and on the other hand retirement at this point can also be seen as he's rested and healed up and is actually stronger than he's normally be in a year of doing competitions and in the competition the guys will already be a bit tired by the time they do this event..so it probably events out, this tournament is the big kahuna though, brian brings the pain and the know it
all I know is I like events that feature items I can get an idea of the weight by looking at it, I like the spectacle, I honestly wouldn't mind if the atlas stones were replaced with something else, I'm just tired of seeing them

Workforce challenge years ago at Stratton AFB helped pull a C-130 25 ft. Wa a cool experience. Big f’n plane when you’re the lead man.
@@Mirriam02 what was insane about those events when it came to Brian is that everyone else would be dying and need a oxygen mask. Brian would just stand up and start talking to the camera. Barely breathing heavy. He has always had very good cardio for his size.
I remember they had the heart monitor on that event and their bpm was like 200+
One of the most humble people ever! Those people so accommodating. Glad to see Brian taking it easy in his “retirement” he’s hardly even out of breath. What an absolute great human being
The good thing about farming equipment is:
1) looks cool
2) theres a lot of heavy things around that you lot could lift
I just like the idea of a "themed" strong competition in general because theres so many avenues you can explore

Even if Brian Shaw wasn't the unique massive top strength athlete he is, he would still be a role model for many people, just judging by his character. I've never seem him be arrogant or unfriendly to any random person. That speaks volumes

@@auril92 Denis armwrestling one of these would be more impressive. Just as an example, I'm pretty sure you can move a pickup truck in neutral with less than 100lbs of side pressure. I know that the truck Denis was armwrestling was slightly bigger, but it's not as much weight as you might think.

Brian's competition is like years of him competing and putting together everything he thought would be a cool event. And he isn't wrong so cool
Brian I'd get a tractor one size down so you can keep the loader on it and then put like a barbell with weights or something in the loader so it looks cool
maybe take the water out of the tires, haha, I'm kiddin', I'm sure if WSM did this they'd just put on road tires
i really like the tractor idea, or the farm equipment theme, lots of possibilities, they can even load the bucket with sand bags or tractor parts, tire flips..who knows, it's definitely a step up, I do like seeing Brian's new contraptions though

I am so glad SMOE is focusing on pure strength. It really does live up to its name, as opposed to WSM. I think WSM doesn't really consider peak strength, but more who is strong and also quite mobile. I think fans want to know who has the most raw power and strength.

Picture this: Old days farmer running out behind ox using old fashion tiller, working 15 hours straight hard labor. Enter Brain - farmer says, "It's about time you showed up. We've been out here for 15-hours. Let's get it unhooked so you can hook up and get to work." -- Unhooks rig...hooks Brian in...sends ox off to barn to rest. Farmer gives Brain the, "Giddy up. Heeyah mule!!!" 😜😜
Such a cool idea to use farm tractors and equipment as the weights for an event. Not only am I sure that dealership could use the publicity an event like this will bring but also just farmers in general. Those pieces of equipment are very expensive and are a required part of farming. Most people do not realize that today there's no way for a farmer of any decent size to not go into huge amounts of debt just to plant, let alone buy and maintain all the equipment required. That debt, other than certain loans, has to be paid at the end of each year. So if the harvest doesn't come in as expected there's a chance of having to carry debt year to year. Which as you can imagine is a very bad thing, higher interest rates and such. That is why we see so many farmers going under or being bought out by much larger operations. The risk to reward is becoming just a break even scenario for many or worse can result in loosing ground that's been in families for generations.
Brian you are definitely an individual who thinks outside the box and are spreading the blessings the Lord has given you.

He explains that it's a medley. One side you will lift and push the 3,500 pound baler. Upon completing you will transition to pulling the tractor.

Brian is taking tractor pulls to a whole another level
They started off trying to pull tractors in one of the early WSM events, but nobody could move them and they had to swap to something like a bus (can’t remember exactly) Reason given was the inertia involved in turning the huge heavy tyres on the tractor rather than the mass of the tractor itself. Seeing this brought that back to me. They were way bigger tractors though!

This was so hilarious to me because my dad goes to these tractor dealerships to look at new equipment and dream of getting new stuff. You look at it to see what you can lift and pull 🤣 cracked me up!

Man I’m a combat vet with 100% disability rating. I wish I could afford to attend but it’s just past my budget. Brain Shaw is pretty awesome. I would totally attend if possible.
This force recorder is something that should be used by wsm to track the vehicle pulls too along with time barrier.
It’s amazing how far tech has gone and that Brian is implementing it to get the best.

I'm sure it's still stressful behind the scenes, but I'm so happy you don't have to stress out as much having to train and compete at the same time. To add, I'm surprised Nike hasn't signed a deal with you to make official strongman shoes that are more grippy for pull events and less grippy for added movement.

The strength of this guy is insane. You have people like Wes Watson that constantly tout how "fit" they are and all this, but the real question is this. Is it actual strength? This dude is the definition of "World's Strongest Man".

rolling resistance probably the biggest factor here. due to how heavy the axels and how knobby the tires are.
This one is especially challenging coz tractors also have planetary gears that you also have to get moving.
Plus with those tires being super knobby, they don’t want to roll so that adds a lot more rolling resistance. You can easily add 30% more rolling resistance that way.

I think he even explained that one of the things he misses abt the old school wsm competitions was the crazy events bc it gave the crowd some wow factor to enjoy and it made the events more relative than just a bar eith weights on it

Gearbox friction even in neutral, is whats slowing the tractor down and whats holding it back, remove the driveshaft and put all the stuff back on, it will glide like a hot knife through butter.
Just a suggestion, I don't know if it's just the tire size, which obviously makes a big difference, but the *WEIGHTED* tires are dead rolling mass, and it's brutal to roll like that.
Ive pulled a 10ton truck in 25sec over 20m and ive pulled a 10ton crane with tractor wheels over same distance. Massive difference. The wheels and axle of tractor makes huge difference

That is one strong human being, right there credit to Mr. Shaw for what staying competitive even though he’s retired from world, strongest man competition he is a inspiration to others. He doesn’t cry. He doesn’t complain. He just does it. I like the strong man mentality they don’t cry they don’t complain they just do it.

1000lb tractor requires around 400N to roll
12000lb tractor around 460N to roll
A tractor at 8500lbs needs around 300N of pull to roll.

You should incorporate a pulley system for the tractor pull so you can pull a bigger tractor and refine the required force more precisely

My first thought is, different tires might make it easier. That's still to heavy for a two implement event. It's gonna look awesome though.

The tires are big knobs which makes it way harder to get moving because it’s like tiny chocks. It might be way cooler if you had street tires on a larger tractor.

I have a 1964 Massey Ferguson 135 diesel that still runs great, I use it for clearing snow and grading the driveway.

set up a bunch of ways to recored and measure power in pulling and lifting and what have you. What person wouldn’t get competitive.
Use the force gauge like this one for pulling.
