I love that intro and song. Funny thing is I watch every single week and didn’t realize it was missing, I knew something had felt different in recent months but I just didn’t know what it was.
For chopping there are 2 factors that improve performance: 1) having a longer handle increases leverage & 2) more weight distributed at the head increases force. However, as you guys point out, the Hammer Hawk is intended more as a multi-purpose tool rather than a dedicated chopping tool. If all you want to do is demolish wood 😁, just buy a big axe. If you want something more versatile and reasonably easy to carry, the Hammer Hawk might be a good option (it's TOPS after all, it works). Sharp blades all.
So, I'm hardly what you could call a knife enthusiast. I grew up camping and whittling with my dad and was trying to get back into it, so I found your channel while researching pocket knives. Far and away the best knife channel out there. Video production is top notch, and I've found myself watching stuff I don't even have an interest in buying just because the content is so good and fun. Cheers, guys, and thanks
That fish in England we call White bait and I love it. It's traditionally served how you did it battered and fried. Usual condiments are lemon mayonnaise and tartar sauce
Thanks Guys, got another person in this world hooked on knifes. Got a Mora Garberg last week and loving it. Never seen a bush in my life but its good to know I'm gonna be safe. Praying to the universe I will not buy more knives, but I keep hearing a voice telling me that all my life i just want a DBK knife 😒
Hey guys, I use a for piston as well. I keep one and a tin of charcloth on me at all times. Try keeping one of those small cubes of Vaseline with you also. It helps to seal and lube the piston, a dab will do. Plus, get some fishing line (20 pound test), tie it securely around the piston where it and the handle meet. Cut the line just short of double the piston length. As you put the piston into the cylinder, last the line across the opening in the center and then insert the piston. The line breaks the seal and you can close the piston fully. This keeping it clean of debris and is always ready to use. Try it, it does work and makes the piston last and work for years.
Love all the content guys! Definitely do more axe and chopper videos! Great job! BTW..."All my life I just want the DBK knife".. I love that song and your knife. One day I'll pick it up if it becomes available again. I've been a fan for years.
Another awesome video. I bought one of these a couple of years ago and love it. One observation though is that it is heavy in the handle but light on the head weight.
Tops are really interesting knives. Not everyone likes the design but everyone respects their quality control. Also I love hearing Mikkie B Boy the break dancer saying that axe name.
Nice one fellas! Never looked at Tops much, but after picking up a fieldcraft 3.5 more of their catalogue is starting to jump out at me. Cheers from Tasmania
Richard the lll met Saladin on the Crusade. He pulled his two handed broadsword and with a mighty swing cut an anvil in half. Saladin tossed a silk scarf in the air, drew his damascene scimitar and held it edge up. The silk floated down and cut in half on the sword. Apocryphal story: But edged tools Should be judged on finesse too. Christopher
I would enjoy a video comparing different uk/euro legal slip joints. Perhaps knives like the Manly Wasp, Spyderco UKPK, a Victorinox pioneer, a traditional slip joint clip point etc. 🤷♂️
Brothers! ‘Hawks are not for chopping wood! Hawks are for defensive battle or wartime. Breaching needs aside, “All a tomahawk needs to chop is muscle and bone.”
I have to invest in some more Tops knives. They are just so good. I have the Cut 4 and love it. Still hoping for a Cold Steel Leather Neck clip point review.
I think the major pro of this axe is being able to baton wood with it. I would have loved to see you two use it in that capacity for chopping wood. It's not something you do with a traditional axe, as you can bend the eye of the axe head and damage your tool. This axe could definitely be used to baton judging from your destruction test. Could you guys do a short vid on that on IG or has the axe already been given away?
Great video, enjoyed it a lot!! I personally will be staying with my G.F. Axe for chopping and my knife(s) for smaller tasks, plus a saw for my kit. Would love to see the USMC, OKC-3S Bayonet (not K-Bar) put through all your destruction tests!!! "The Old Gunny".
Love this video! Also really loving the music from your band!! Looking for a good EDC knife now, currently carrying a Swiss Army Soldier’s Knife. The newer model. I know I need to get a better one, lol.
Hey I like your band! I had to freeze frame this video to make sure I saw it right. In earlier videos I heard the background music and thought damn, that sounds like Mikkie's voice so I checked out the Wodan Boys and yes, it was you lol. You'r band's style sounds similar to the bands I used to see at The Continental in Buffalo, N.Y. in the early 80's. GO!
Guys, have you ever thought about the fact that it is better to cut the log in the place where it is supported and not in the place where it hangs in the air and springs against the knife/axe? 😅 Thanks for the vid btw. Big fan here.
I would like to see what y’all think about the Esee Izula 2. Love Tops and adding a Hammerhawk would be a great addition if I had a need for it. Just can’t justify the cost without a need. Love the videos, keep them coming.
Please review the cold steel Razor Tek 6.5inch blade. its seems fairly decent for the money. I am impressed but id love to see what the DBK team thinks of it.

Sissy-veggie-ramen!
Bring back your theme song! It would make a great outro song
I love that intro and song. Funny thing is I watch every single week and didn’t realize it was missing, I knew something had felt different in recent months but I just didn’t know what it was.
@@poncho151 I didn't notice it either... 😳
This was a great video this week! Very candid and very informative. Y’all are killing it lately!!!!
I think it would be very interesting to see a test of a classic Cold Steel Tanto. Recreating Lynn Thompson’s tests too.

Blade/head geometry is everything when it comes to an axe. This is a handaxe, it's not quite a tomahawk and it's not quite a hatchet.
I don't think Vito Ramen could've picked a better channel to sponsor
Legend has it that the DBK boys both swing a big, long axe.
And vena sausage peckers
A truly worthy comparison would be this Tops "tomahawk" and the Estwing hatchet.
Great I really don't need this but now I want one 😮
What a beast of a tool... weapon... tool.

Thank you so much for these awesome kind words! We appreciate it a lot
Indeed Gabriel. These fellas are a hoot! I remember when they started, thankfully I happened upon them again.😄

Nice Hawk. Thanks for showing us and take care.

The Estwing axe is pretty good I'd be interested in seeing how it holds up compared to the Tops axe
"AND MADE IN THE DAMNED USAAAA" 😂😂😂 best ramen ad ever
You guys are always incredibly fun to watch 😄😄

You Guys are awesome keep up your banter and answers to questions
Best video review of this hatchet I’ve seen.
I love noodles. I will support this cause.
Another awesome video. I bought one of these a couple of years ago and love it. One observation though is that it is heavy in the handle but light on the head weight.
Awesome to see you guys review so many different things omg❤
I've never seen a fire piston, that's awesome!
Tops are really interesting knives. Not everyone likes the design but everyone respects their quality control. Also I love hearing Mikkie B Boy the break dancer saying that axe name.
“In normal Tops fashion, it dosent give a shit!!” I love it.
Great show guys.
This is the only channel on TY that makes advertising watchable
Haha thank you. We do our best to make them enjoyable to watch. I think it's a win for everyone. Viewer, us and advertising party
I may have to get this to add to my kit
Just yesterday I was thinking about how cool hatchets are
Maarten holding Mikkie above his head is super impressive to me
I want to see more about Rambo's brother
Good video 👍👍👍 traditional axe looks better for all tasks, thank you guys!
nice to see the Granfors back again!
Loved it, always fun to watch your reviews, maybe for a future video the Extrema Ratio Shrapnel OG FH?
It's a TOPS, they're all ready to destroy stuff.
Great video!
I’d like to see you give the Benchmade Hunt Taggedout a try. It feels like the outdoorsy big brother of the Bugout.
Great review guys. It is a Tops and they are just rugged hard use tools.
Tops does some serious black magic with their heat treatment. They make 1095 perform like a super steel.
Lol. Video is 10 minutes old, Blade HQ: "axe is out of stock" 😏
Same thing happened with the TOPS Storm Vector 🥲
Nice one fellas! Never looked at Tops much, but after picking up a fieldcraft 3.5 more of their catalogue is starting to jump out at me. Cheers from Tasmania
I have the TOPS Ucon Hawk, 1095 steel and crazy sharp, this hatchet is really good.

Axe skill unlocked: "axe throw".
Greetings from Cuba ✌️😎🇨🇺
Great as always guys, keep up the good work.🤘👍👍🤘
Great vid, I always enjoy when you have some slow-paced bushcrafting for the tests
0:16 If they just made the arrowheads on the design thicker and more prominent they could act like a wedge and drastically improve splitting.
Did you guys see Bark River is bringing back the Gunny Scandi for a limited time. I got one ordered and can't wait for it to get here
Best noodle ad ever!

Another great vid would love to see you guys review the tops brush wolf knife
I have to invest in some more Tops knives. They are just so good. I have the Cut 4 and love it. Still hoping for a Cold Steel Leather Neck clip point review.
Council tool woodcraft axe is a good one to try also. The top is sharpened to 90 for striking ferro rods.
A TOPS product is never a bad idea really.
Would love to see you bring the new Boker Bronco in CPM 3V to the test, and see how it holds up.

I really like that for a bug out/shtf situation... Pretty expensive tho. I really like how tuff it is.
DBA guys delivered. 😸👍
Review a White River Firecraft or the Ursus 45
Hello Boyz!!!! Another entertaining and informative offering.
"AHHH LIEKIT AHHLHAAAOOOT" 🤣🤣🤣 this guy killing me when he plays American.
Tops bushwolf, the design looks looks very interesting and tops blades never disappoint!
Wow!!! That's 1 tough Hatchett
Absolute bloody Legends 🙂
well done fellas luv the clips how about a review of the origin kukri, kukri tracker and kukris for bush survival in general?
13 years in, my GB is still going strong. A few rust spots and handle chips but it chops like an Iron Chef!
Great video, enjoyed it a lot!!
I personally will be staying with my G.F. Axe for chopping and my knife(s)

"The Old Gunny".
be great for a day run or survival pack but every thing else full size is for me great video keep it up
Qu'est ce qu'elle est belle cette Hachette,je dois attendre si je veux me l'acheter
Superbe vos vidéos les gars
I was just thinking that a WINKLER would be a great idea for a review!! 👍🏼😬
really?
Love you guys !
I don't know u guys got a Huge band like the Woodan Boys to let u use their music, but never stop!
Just order some ramen with your link and code. Thank you guys.
Love this video! Also really loving the music from your band!! Looking for a good EDC knife now, currently carrying a Swiss Army Soldier’s Knife. The newer model. I know I need to get a better one, lol.

Amazing video.
Did you seriously just say that the GFB Small Forest Axe is not a survival tool?
Good review! Though I'll stick with the SFA
Guys, have you ever thought about the fact that it is better to cut the log in the place where it is supported and not in the place where it hangs in the air and springs against the knife/axe? 😅 Thanks for the vid btw. Big fan here.
In 9:58 I don't think you used Flower :D I think you mean Flour. But video is great as always guys!
Estwing hatchet is pretty much bulletproof and probably a hell of a lot cheaper.
Yeah man, Tops is about 5-7 times the cost. I have a few different Estwing Hatchets I've used & abused over the years and they're outstanding.
And the Estwing has excellent edge geometry for splitting kindling!
true!
I would like to see what y’all think about the Esee Izula 2. Love Tops and adding a Hammerhawk would be a great addition if I had a need for it. Just can’t justify the cost without a need. Love the videos, keep them coming.
Cool vid, guys!
Are yall gonna put out another DBK knife?
Damm those fish looked tasty!
Fiskars X7 is a good one as well, or the norden line, budget, sturdy, and lightweight
On the bright side if the blade breaks off, you have enough material to forge another blade out of the handle.
I always thought full tang axes looked cool. That is one beast of a tool. Almost as beastly as Maarten's biceps..
1:15 Jesus Christ ! is there no sun where you live ? that lunar tan you're rocking gave me rent burn !
hit a beach dude !!!!!
I LOVE DBK
Winkler Winkler
👍🏼80CrV2👍🏼
Winkler Winkler
🤣🤣🤣
the axe throwing is just distance vs rotations. the axe rotates depending on its size and how fast you throw it.
What is your opinion of the Spyderco Shaman?
I love your s videos vi from spain
Take a look at the cold steel survival edge
I am in the market for a Hammer backed hatchet. But 300 but is not in my budget. Test out the Schrade hatchet.
Hello 6 or 4 mètres is a good distance for throwing axe . Thanks my friends .💪
Please review the cold steel Razor Tek 6.5inch blade. its seems fairly decent for the money. I am impressed but id love to see what the DBK team thinks of it.
Please test the Granfors Brux Mini Hatchet. It’s designed by LP to be a knife for backpacking
