worked just fine for me, thank you for sharing this video. To those that this fix did not work for it's likely that you purchased the wrong drive, didn't secure the ribbon cables properly, had a defective pcb, and the cases where a non working Xbox was purchased it may have had a drive replaced by someone who didn't swap the pcb out. this method if done right on a unaltered unit works every time to resolve a read failure.

Its a cleaning agent Bottle with a needle is just a custom bottle. It contains FLUX which helps and aids the process of soldering. We have FLUX and ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL (VERY HIGH QUALITY) available in our online store. Feel free to check it. Now that you have mentioned we will stock FLUX custom bottle and it will be available to purchase from our online store.
How about instead of desoldering all the wires for the motor, JUST TAKE THE SAME MOTOR. Thats what i did. I just untangled the wires for the motor and put it with the new drive. Its honestly 100 times easier that way.
your replacing a drive not modding it. So no, as long as your not modding it to be able to play games that you downloaded from the internet then your fine. This is just one easy way to repair the xbox

My DVD drive has been making a loud humming sound since as long as I remember, and now it's chewed up a disc, scratches in the middle now it won't read. I had it upright for ages but when it's sat on it's belly it's quiet. Will I need to swap out the DVD drive and do the PCB swap?

because the old chip has the DVD Key - XBOX360 system is not HOT Swapable meaning replacing with another drive does not going to do anything. You must replace the PCB as shown in the video

I have an issue with the dvd drive tray being off the rails and i need to realign it, but the tab you have to lift up on is broken. is there a way to reseat the tray?

First you need to send us your PCB => shipping will be about $12-$15 (You can simply use scissors and cut the PCB wires) Then once we receive your PCB, we will solder it onto the new Drive (So a brand new) => $150.00 then we will ship your new Drive with your PCB = $15.00 Total cost = $180.00 approx. Would you be happy with the costs ?

if its broken you have to simply replace it with the new part. ideally you would want to purchase a complete new drive and carry out PCB replacement. It will save you all the hassels and you'll have a brand new DVD Drive.
Will this also fix "disk unrecognizeable" error on brand new orginal 360 games? Other orginal games that have wear and tear on them work just fine however brand new games don't. Sometimes I can get the drive to read the game enough to D/L it to the hard drive to see if that would help but I still need the disc to play the D/L'd game. So the problem is still there. Its not the game because the game will play on friends machines. Xbox/support is no help. Machine is past warranty.

However, what if I were to buy a new drive from another source there is one on Amazon.com from a company called Brainydeal (it has a 4/5 rating with over 30 reviews so I trust it). It's the same exact drive for $60 bucks instead of $150. Then I could just simply send the new drive from them and my PCB to you for a much more appealing price. How much would you charge for the labor of replacing the PCB and shipping it back to me?
my old drive had an issue with the tray basically not opening, so I bought a replacement and have done exactly what u have done in this video. The tray now opens as it should but now it comes up as unrecognized disc and won't play fifa 16. Although that is the only game I've tested because its my friends xbox. Does anybody know what I could've done wrong?
if you are able to - Eject Tray - Close Tray thats somewhat explains that the PCB is functional otherwise if its dead you would be able to perform any operation.

I'm having some trouble removing the wide ribbon cable in both my new and old drive. I noticed a convenient little mechanism on the other two, which made the removal very easy, but nothing budges on the wide one. Can anyone give me some tips or suggestions on how to solve this problem?
I installed the drive and the games and movies were working fine, I turned off the console and the next day the console wasn't recognizing that there was a disk inside of the drive. I apologize if I wasn't specific enough but if anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated.
