      The culture has morphed in a way where intellectuals no longer are the personality types that want to be in politics. We prioritize people who play the political game between offices versus people capable doing the actual office they run for. Imagine if say basketball was considered like a nerdy unpopular thing to do... goofy out of shape kids would play (like the 40s and 50s) and all the athletic bodies in todays game would be in another sport or coding... same thing. Politics is for a certain type.

    Every question Joe asks is an intentional leading one that is charged with bias, presumption, and meant to be a "gotcha" question to Sowell. Joe's objective here is to make Sowell look like a simpleton because a Black conservative is the most feared constituent to Democrats. The "schooled" part of this video is that Sowell defeats every single one of these leading questions by presenting facts and truth. It's NOT click-bait. You just have to listen deeper to the sub-context.

      Sowell is another educated fool who's philosophies would further convince black Americans to keep digging our own Graves. Integration was always a fool's game. No oppressed minority, certainly not one who is visibly of a different race than their oppressors, has ever gotten true freedom and liberty by trying to integrate with their oppressor.
      The US and the West have proven time and time again that it is unrealistic and inhumane to expect an oppressed group to be able to truly thrive while forces to live amongst their oppressors. The glorification of the American Recolution and the decision to move the German Jewish population put of Germany and into the Middle East is proof of this. The further cultural glorification of men like William Wallace and Marcus Aurelius further highlight that.
      Yet, when it comes to those non-white societies whom America and the Wrst have oppressed qnd committed mass atrocities and acts of genocide against, America and the West are always against those people separating and truly going free. That is because they want continued control over thise groups to oppress them further.
      This entire experiment of integration is a charade. It's a carefully planned trick to get black people to lower our guard under the guise of brotherhoodwhile this society, both left and right, Democrat and Republican, Liberal and Conservative, work in tandem to divide, pollute, and psychologically/spiritually destroy the community while making it look like nothing is happening at all. It's a sick game. And Lowell is a fool for supporting it.

    On the topic of Ivy League schools, Sowell was talking about how certain talented Black students were put into them to fill a quota and unfairly displaced other students of different race. He says that this results in talented Black students failing in Ivy League schools, when they could've been top of their class in a less prestigious, but still elite school. He's saying this differential treatment of Blacks is hurting Blacks the same way literacy standards or the Jim Crow era did.

    • @j.davids.2782
      @j.davids.2782 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And he would be right, this issue persists until this day. Putting a student into a program that is above them is setting them up to fail. The Ivy League schools know this, and dont care, all they care about is getting the right numbers so they look "progressive".

    • @kila4
      @kila4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      That’s exactly what he is saying. Some blacks would have failed at Harvard, but would have been right on top at a school that was a tier below. He also said, during Jim Crowe, the law was applied differently for blacks, it kept them down. Now Jim Crowe is gone and they decide it’s time to apply the law differently, just the opposite way, they put blacks in places they didn’t qualify for and displaced students that did. What he is saying, don’t apply the law differently, EVER. And btw, it’s Asians and Indians that were and are hurt the most with affirmative action. This application of applying different standards for different groups of people is a problem whenever applied. Women couldn’t pass the same physical requirements that men had to in the marines, so they changed the requirements…and then to cover their asses, the said, well, they changed them not for women, but because they thought they were too rigorous to begin with. You know that’s BS. I have no problem with women in any branch of the military…but standards should not change….if a woman can do it, great, if she can’t…then she can choose a diff path…lots of roles in the military for all different types of people. I was in the USN, I remember a few women that could beat a lot of the men in head to head competitions, I knew some men that wouldn’t hold their own against a good amount of the females. We had an all male dive crew, some women were mad about that…it’s not easy to become a navy diver, but I’d have no problem with women being divers if they passed the same tests…but I’d sure have a problem if they made the tests easier for just the women. Would you want someone watching your back that had easier tests given to them? So, we, as a country, need to compete on the global markets, wouldn’t you want THE best qualified people in high positions, or just fill them with what you think is the right colour person? President Biden said he was going to get a woman of colour as his VP, don’t you think there should be way more important qualifiers when looking for the second highest position in govt? Then he gets a Supreme Court nominee, and does the same thing again..says, I’m going to have a woman of colour in that position.

    • @ram0666

      @@truthsaviour8804 He didnt totally miss the point.Sowell is talking about how the liberals try to preach that color alone makes 2 men equal and that premise is what holds the black community back. Biden and other politicians sell the idea that if 2 men 1 black and 1 white are equal. Sowell is saying that color does not alone make the men equal. He said yes of course slavery had a bad effect on society, but the pushing of men being equal based on color is what is holding people back. Each person has a skill or experience that adds value which makes them worth more or less. 2 black men may not be equal just the same as 2 white men may not be equal equal just the same as 1 white and1 black may not be equal. The idea of the government being used the same for all according to Sowell will fail.. He believes that applying the law the same to those that are equal is what will work. Accepting black kids into schools that they arent qualified only sets them up for failure which hurts the black community. Getting them to colleges that suit their level allows for them to prosper and help their community grow. Sowell knows that Politicians like Biden want to make people think that you can make people look equal on paper based on color alone. He knows that people bring more to the table than color. He is saying that basing being equal on just color only sets the black community up for failure and that goes against all the policies since the 1960's that have been passed. He is saying apply the laws the same for equal men and black will rise. The problem is that everybody thinks they are owed a chance but our worth are not the same. Sowell is saying that people are not equal based on color alone and thats why these stupid policies like getting certain amounts of people in schools or hired for jobs dont work. Also he believes accepting into schools or hiring for jobs someone just based on being black actually will hold back another black from taking better advantage of the opportunity. Overall he is saying blacks dont need white politicians to give them nothing just apply rules the same for all equal people and blacks will thrive.

    Thomas Sowell is correct about setting kids up for failure by admitting them to programs that they were not qualified for. I attended a top 20 engineering school in the 1980s. In the quarter I was admitted, the minimum GPA for white males was 3.6. The minimum GPA for women and minority groups was 2.5. Only about 10 percent of the women and minorities completed the competitive program. These kids would have been better off attending less competitive schools and successfully completing their education. This made the school administrators feel good. But, it actually helped nobody.

The very first thing the white people told him at work is they ran out of the study books. Meanwhile his white coworker said "hey I was given a copy of the test to study." If you are asking questions then you're seeking knowledge and accepting knowledge even if its truth changes your reality. To me that makes a man stronger.

    Sowell has always been against affirmative action. He has never said a person wasn't smart enough to go to Harvard, what a person from the projects lack is a competitive angle. Ivy league schools are exceedingly competitive and intimidating. Those students were raised to be politely brutal. If you didn't grow up in this type of environment you are at a great disadvantage. The irony of all this is Ivy League schools only give you about a 5-10 year head start over a 2nd tier or 3rd tier school (yes that is a large advantage economically but not insurmountable).
    Most affirmative action students struggle so hard that they quit the school they are accepted to and are saddled with huge debt and an inability to pay it back, not to mention the blow to a person's ego. If this student had gone to a Indiana University or a 3rd tier school he would have the same degree for less money and a better start to their life.

      There are some parents in Baltimore that are suing the school, because their kid graduated H.S without being able to read. XD Their school board isn't like most where they get voted in, they get appointed. So the parents only discourse was to sue them. Our education system's are broken, If a school will graduate someone, who is supposed to be ready for college and they can't even read. That's scary. There was a reason the plantation owners didn't want their slaves to be able to read. One more way to keep them under their control, to keep them from advancing.

    What Thomas was saying about desegregation is that there's a difference between concept and implementation. It should have happened but government did little good & in most cases made it worse.
    Joe & so many others who challenge Thomas or try to make him look foolish or wrong are out of their league.

      The forced desegregation of the country ruined the black community. Just look at Black Wall Street. Survived attacks from racists, rebuilt after being burnt down, but finally destroyed thanks to forced desegregation. All the successful black-owned businesses moved to white communities, but white-owned companies didn't move into black communities.
      Had the desegregation happened more naturally, over time, then perhaps this wouldn't have happened, and the black communities, along with the businesses, would've ended up more integrated.
