Cold process soap making tutorial: All natural pink & white layered soap coloured with rose clay

  • Today we are making a very beautiful, very feminine layered soap. The soap is naturally coloured with rose clay and is topped with handmade, white soap roses, which we have created using soap dough.
We have left the soap unscented, but if we were to sell it we would add Rose Geranium essential oil, as this would perfectly match the delicate, floral nature of this soap.
This is a simple, yet effective design and we think it is one of our prettiest creations yet!
Follow our cold process recipe and tutorial for details on how you can make this at home!
Our soaps are all palm oil free and this one is vegan friendly too.
The ingredients we used for this soap are as follows:
    Water 220g
    Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) 109g
    Olive Oil 340g
    Coconut Oil 184g
    Shea Butter 75g
    Cocoa Butter 38g
    Castor Oil 57g
    Sweet Almond Oil 99g
    Rose clay 1 tsp
    White kaolin clay 1/2 tsp

This is so pretty! I don't know why I didn't already subscribe to your channel, because you seem to have great stuff, but I've since remedied that. :) Sending a virtual/socially-distant high-five from Canada!

Thank you Amanda. I was really happy with how the colours turned out too and I will definitely be making soap roses again in the future as they were a lot of fun to do :-)

Hi, just love your soap and videos, so helpful. Do you spray alcohol in between layers?

    • @TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany

Thank you Joanne :-) No, we don't spray alcohol between the layers, there is no need to with cold process soap like this as it holds together fine without it.

Very beautiful soap. What is the name of the company where you get the clays from please?

    • @TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany

Hello Stella, We get our Rose clay from a company called "Foundinbio" and we purchase our Kaolin clay from "Mystic Moments". Both of these companies are great to work with and supply all relevant documentation that you may require too.

Hello! I´m from Portugal, so I wonder if you could tell me the name of that portuguese company from where you bought your clays (sorry, I can't catch it from the video ...). Thank you so much!

Hello, yes of course! It is "Foundinbio" They don't have the biggest range (I think they offer about 6 different clays), but what they do have is really good quality and their customer service is really fantastic!

Haha, There's nothing like honesty! We love honest feedback and your comment certainly made us both laugh! Personally I don't see it as a butt, but Wayne went to great lengths and into extreme detail to point out to me how it could look like one! :-D
