- Hey Hey it's budget day! We are doing our April Budget #2 and Cash Envelope Stuffing. I feel like I'm getting a better grip on the Weekly Budget of course by the time I probably nail it down it will be time to move back to Bi-Weekly ha! What are your wins for this week or budget period!?

I’ve added “cushion” as a line item in my budget for those cases where something unexpected happens or I muck it up lol ...so at least that buffer is built in, even though it’s a zero based budget. You’re just giving a plan for everything; how it pans out may be a different story sometimes 😆

I have a sinking fund for bulk buying household items. I bulk buy from Sam's club quarterly for TP, detergent, paper towels, toothpaste, soap, etc. It works out great because Im not constantly buy household items.
Yeah I think I definitely need to do this because I feel like I'm getting stuff every week that I could have already had.Thank you!

We had a deep freezer for years, then when it went out we went to an upright freezer, it looks just like a one door refrigerator. We've been living out of our freezer the last two months, so we haven't bought in bulk in awhile. That's the good thing though, having a stock that is well built so when money does get tight, it's just perishables like milk, cheese, any fresh produce, won't be as much on the weekly if we were to buy every week. We're going to make some stock up runs when the sales are good, like this week brisket is 1.99 a lb and salmon is 6.50 a lb, so we'll spend $70-100 of our $225 grocery budget for stock, then after about 6- 8 weeks of sales, we can drop our grocery budget down to $100 - $125 or so for the 5 of us. On an average we spend less this way instead of buying paying full price for meats ever. I want to look into maybe buying parts or a whole cow once a year to cut down our spending even further, we would probably need two freezers then to accommodate just the cow in one, and the rest of the foods in the other!
That's a great idea we have a local farm that offers buying the whole cow I'm not sure if I missed the cut off but that was a great reminder for me to double check today lol. do you find you like the standing freezer more? I keep going back and forth.
@@daftplanner6552 I didn't think I would like it because I didn't think they were as big as the deep freezers, but yes we all love it. It's similar in Cubic Feet space, but we have access to EVERYTHING without having the frustration to pull anything out to get what we need on the bottom then put it all back everyday. It is really satisfying when we can open the door and see neat packages of portioned meats, pizzas, novelty ice creams etc. on the shelves so we can easily plan our dinners faster.
That's a great point I remember trying to dig down in my mom's deep freezer as a kid to try and find Popsicles lol

Seeing the cost of renewing tags in other places always shocks me, we just renewed ours on both vehicles and it cast $63
What I finally figured out is I can't stress over things i can't control
