Merc's will always be more quiet - they've invested more time/money into the cowling to make it softer - but the new design on the Yamaha is dangerously close. Yamaha 450's outperform the Merc 450's, but Merc is more quiet.
The Mercs ARE the choice. Those Yamaha's are boat anchors. almost 1000 pounds each! What a slug. They keep saying quieter quieter quieter smooth, etc. they must have said quiet and smooth 10 times to avoid SLOW and HEAVY. How about true performance.. How about slow and heavy!. 3 Mercurys weigh about as much as 2 Yamaha's!! And they are slow. Imagine a twin outboard boat only doing around 50. A twin 450 equipped Trifecta or Avalon is a 75 mph boat. Of course this Bennington is larger, but it's also a big stupid boat. Big and Slow. Maybe if you needed to put 25 people on board, but if you have 12 or less people, then go for it.
Seems like you've enjoyed our TH-cam page thus far. We're happy to offer the choice of both and, yes, Mercury is more quiet - but having driven both Merc 450 & 500 twins vs. Yamaha 450's - the Yamaha outperforms. Tough to say that Bennington is slow when the 450 platforms run 60+ mph all day. Issue with Avalon & Playcraft and other twin engine pontoons - they are NOT ABYC certified - which means they will FLIP OVER under their own power in hard turns. Countless accidents where people have lost their lives - unfortunately - and we're happy to represent the product with the best warranty, safest on the water, and #1 selling premium tritoon in the world. Thanks for watching.
The Merc V-10 400's would be a good choice as well.
Nice power as well - we did a product test on comparable boat with Merc V-10's. Check it out
What’s the price on something like this??
$300-400k depending upon how you spec them out - I know it's a broad range, but lots of variables - call 573-348-3888 and we can get you specifics
How's the noise level on the Mercury 450Rs versus these new Yamaha 450s?

How does it handle in Rough Water ?
@@robmacleod6051 Extremely well. Have never lost a sale on a demo due to superior performance.
@@robmacleod6051 Extremely well - we've yet to lose a demo on a 30 Benny, especially in rough water.
