I bet it hurts Ellie the most knowing she wanted to have a movie night with Joel after telling him she was going to forgive and build their relationship up again. Only to have him die the next day.
Thank you I know Joel is dead but we all know he's gone well long as he's with his daughter Abby's going to pay for this then she killed Jesse to Joe is my favorite character in the first game but he died I wish you was nothing to be this way after the first game back at the hospital when I found Ellie I saw Abby's father Square this was a Revenge I'm good Abby's Friends Are Dead they deserve it but not Mel I was stupid to kill her why the game just made us or better it made me sad and after Joel died made me cried so hard I didn't get the chance to give Joel a chance why Joel and Tommy why didn't you get it just kill Abby in the first place why Jesse just go with Ellie
Somehow he knows she forgave him just by the look in her eyes when he died in front of her the way he did and who knows after she returned at the end to Jackson Dina and J.J. had moved into Joel's house and that is where they will reside and the cemetery where Joel is buried is just across the street his house and his grave isn't to far for them to walk to and if they buried Jesse there nearby as well and be close for them walk to with J.J. and living in Joel's house would be a way of letting him know she forgave him and even from the grave that she would honor him and his memory that way but that's just my take on it though.
It was weird Abby kills Joel after he saver her life, and she isn’t 100% sure he is Joel… who tf would do that. That’s why I think a lot of people hated Abby and didn’t connect or empathize with her. Great game still regardless
@@weebabyshakeus How is a heart broken dad thinking about his daughter creepy? He knew he fucked up and damaged the father-daughter relationship they had. He loved Ellie, because she became his family.
All the flowers and cards at Joel’s steps are what get to me. Can you imagine how beloved a guy like that would be to a town full of survivors? Probably saved everyone’s lives a few times over just by being around.
look at 2:34 a perfect example of how much Joel's character has changed since TLOU1, do you really think that a cynical man like Joel from TLOU1 would be able to gain the trust, affection, and respect of these people the way he did, no. the hardened survivor you saw in TLOU1 is something no one wants to be. Joel found comfort by having Ellie and Tommy by him. life wasn't about surviving for him anymore, it was about making sure he does everything that a good father would do for his kid. Ellie was his second chance. Ellie helped Joel in that process of gaining his humanity back. This is what happens when you love someone with all your heart they can either make or break your heart.
I couldn't agree more. As Tommy said on TLOU 1 "Jackson gives everyone a second chance". This applies perfectly to Joel, as he used that opportunity to improve as a human being.
I get why he did it, but it was so sad when Joel didn't accept the picture of him and Sarah when he was offered it by Tommy. Joel at that time was a broken man who couldn't face his demons. He didn't get a heroes death in TLOU 2, but at least he is shown to have grown into a truly good man. He also came to terms with what happened and allowed his memories of Sarah to return, I think that's what the developers were showing when you see the picture framed.
My take is that he's got survivor's guilt through the first game and seeing that photo of Sarah only reminds him of that. However that guilt is absolved when he saves another; Ellie. And he cannot save her until her life is truly threatened - it has to be that moment where everyone, including Ellie, is prepared for her to die. I think he unwittingly passes the guilt/sin onto Ellie which sets up the sequel, making Ellie a kind of Eve character whose 'sin' cursed the world.
He accepted the picture from Ellie shortly after Tommy offered it in the first game. He already faced his demons and admitted he couldn't run from his past and thanked Ellie for saving the picture before they even got to the hospital in game 1.
I didn’t cry during Joel’s death but I died during this scene. I was more shocked by Joel’s death but this scene Ellie wearing his shirt looking at his jacket picking up his revolver looking at his grave. It just sunk in that he was gone. No other scene affected me this much in any fictional thing.
This scene to me, maybe even some would agree, was painful after everything we had gone through. In the end, we weren't saying goodbye. It was, in reality, saying clearly: until next time.

1:56 …”You go, I go. End of story” That turned out NOT to be the case. I assume NaughtyDog inserted this dialog for a purpose. Or was this dialog an oversight?
Short answer: because of JJ, that’s why it “turned out not to be the case”. JJ is now in the picture, and it’s been months or even a year since Seattle. Why would Dina put JJ in harm’s way or straight up abandon him with the people of Jackson just because Ellie can’t let go even after taking everything away from Abby? We all know that parents will always choose their children over anything else.
Who knows Joel probably left the house to Ellie and to Dina knowing of their relationship and that's probably where Dina is in Jackson and is at the house there and the cemetery is just across the street from Joel's house but this is just from my point of view only????.
The way I've been spoiled lmao!!! these videos keep appearing on my feed and I'm pretty much spoiled of everything that's coming. Hopefully the TV show will make some changes further on.
yes !! I’d love a mode where you could just walk around and explore with no enemies or anything. just to see all the details and stuff the devs put in.
Here is the translation to English: When I played for the first time, that's when it hit me. Until then, I was so anesthetized by what had just happened that I didn't think it was real. When his name appeared on the gravestone, I didn't know what to do. I quit the game right there and came back a few hours later. Undoubtedly, one of the moments that affected me the most throughout the entire game.
I just realized something, Naughty Dog didn’t make a bad game here. They just killed off someone we loved. Someone we loved that they created. I don’t think we can hate Neil for killing off someone we wouldn’t love if not for his story. The devs worked hard and if they were as lazy and stupid as people say we wouldn’t give a shit about Joel’s death.
@@joevictor53 I dunno... I mean, I absolutely hate Abby. I hate her character. I hate he design. I hate her motives. I just hate her. And not just because she killed Joel either. There is nothing about her that makes me want to play a game as her.... and play as her trying to kill Ellie at that. I'm sorry. I know it sounds closed minded, but this should have continued Ellie and Joel's story. You play as Ellie for the majority and then Joel here and there. These two are the reason we fell in love with the first game. And all the good story telling elements were taken out and replaced with SJW woke garbage, which the creator himself said admitted was intentional. Sorry for the rant.... but good grief I hate this game.
I don’t understand those who still want to kill Abby after the game finished. Ellie (we) took away her cherished dog, her closest friends, her pregnant friend & the unborn child, her lover, & the WLF (with Tommy’s help). We didn’t kill her, we gave her a fate worse than Death and it costed Ellie (us) everything.
@@outdoorscholar6016 Ellie showed remorse even with mel dying, she didnt know mel was pregnant. What does abby? "good" proceeds to dicapitate dina before lev stops her. Just shows who got their revenge everytime lol.
Though I haven't actually played this game but I've watched people play it and have played the first game. I still think it could have been better and less people would have hated it if they just put abby's playthrough at the start. I think for them to kill Joel so early there was never going to be sympathy for abby. Everything could have remained the same just in a different order. Even though I didn't play it and some may say I can't have an opinion because of that then so be it just take what I say as a grain of salt. I think playing abby first leading up to joel's death you could understand her revenge better and at least be hopeful she never finds him. Then when she does and kills him then you would be more anxious to be put back in the driver seat to play ellie to get back at her. Just saying I think it would have had better flow but what do I know.
Agreed. Many fans made up their mind on Abby because they had Joel die before revealing her backstory. His death would have still angered fans but probably less controversial if it was told chronologically.
i remember reading the leak for this game accidentally before it came out - spoiling that joel was going to die just the way it said. i refused to believe that they would kill off someone so important early in the game and to go out like that, but here we are. shit decisions in a shitty way.

It's called life. 🤷 And it hardly 'ruined' anything seeing as how the TV show is widely popular and the first episode barely came out. Sounds like you expect things to be wrapped up in a pretty pink ribbon and no honey....it just doesn't work that way. 🤷
God, I wish we got more time to flesh out Dina because she's just kinda flat as a character. At least Jesse is kinda funny, she's just... eh. We clearly understand she's quick to go ride-or-die for Ellie but not much beyond that.
Absolutely stunning game...most involving I've ever played Couldn't believe they outdid part one and had the confidence in their story to kill off the lead so early on.

@@cfinley81 I personally wouldn't have had a problem with this game if it weren't for how theres a trans person in the game. It's so disgusting and ungodly and unnatural!
Joel was never the main character anyway. Sure, you controlled him throughout the majority of part 1, and the plot started with him, but its always been Ellies story. The plot revolves around her.
Cause Joel, hardened and cutthroat survivor that survived the apocalypse for 25 or so years, would simply go inside a room with a dozen armed strangers and walk right at the middle of it like he's about to do a Ted Talk. Yes, very believable. A meteor could've dropped down from the sky and killed him and it would've been more compelling.
Would have been good as a standalone game. But as a sequal to lOU1 its horrible. If they only made the 2nd game, we wouldn't feel anger over Joel's death ( because we wouldn't know him), therfore we wouldn't have a problem playing as abby as most players did. The problem naughty dog has was the fact that they tried to make a game, when they should have been trying to make a sequal that is compatible ( and good ofcourse). Think of it like this, you have a puzzle, and there are 2 pieces left. The 1st piece is beautiful, and so you place it, and it fits perfectly. The 2nd piece is good, but not as good. You try to put it in, but realize it doesn't fit nor does it match with the image the puzzle is trying to portray. You get frustrated, and feel like all your hardwork is worthless, you then start to feel anger for the 2nd piece despite it being good, you despise it because it ruined the puzzle. Sorry if the analogy was bad, but its how i see it.
It's not the death of Joel that pissed people off, it's the fact that they MADE us play as Abby immediately after to try and get us to understand her side of the story. Tbh, I don't really care about her story (they retconned it in after the fact and never showed Abby's trauma in the first game to make it more impactful). It's like if they took every evil villain ever, killed off the main character, and then did a flashback to square one and made you watch a movie about the villain's story...nobody wants to see that. It's unsatisfying and it's bullshit to the people who connect with these characters at an emotional level.
If people hating the game for joels death then naughty dog made the game right, cause thats what they want to feel the game. The hatred over the character. I knew that joel is going to die here for what he did in saint mary. But ididnt expect to be like his death to be like this.

1:56 …”You go, I go. End of story” That turned out NOT to be the case. I assume NaughtyDog inserted this dialog for a purpose. Or was this dialog an oversight?
She probably did mean it in the moment but as time went on it clearly changed for her.
I cried when Joel died he is a daddy
This old wolf protected her always and now she have to move on with out him
Who knows Joel probably left the house to Ellie and to Dina knowing of their relationship
and that's probably where Dina is in Jackson and is at the house there and the cemetery is
just across the street from Joel's house but this is just from my point of view only????.
I wonder, if the survivors managed to build these houses after the outbreak or if they just preserved homes that where left over.
yeah dude they went to Home Depot after the outbreak for supplies and power tools
The way I've been spoiled lmao!!! these videos keep appearing on my feed and I'm pretty much spoiled of everything that's coming. Hopefully the TV show will make some changes further on.
I cant believe they played the same rendition of the theme where they argue, except it’s more slowed down and retrospective :(
Id play this game if everything was so relaxing - just wandering and looking, nothing scary
yes !! I’d love a mode where you could just walk around and explore with no enemies or anything. just to see all the details and stuff the devs put in.
Here is the translation to English:
When I played for the first time, that's when it hit me. Until then, I was so anesthetized by what had just happened that I didn't think it was real. When his name appeared on the gravestone, I didn't know what to do. I quit the game right there and came back a few hours later. Undoubtedly, one of the moments that affected me the most throughout the entire game.
Hey, thanks for spoiling this in the title for those of us who haven’t played it yet!
100000%
Only lazy part is not letting us have the choice to kill Abby. Fuck this shit.
Good game. Graphics and gameplay are solid. No one argues that. But the story is absolute trash
@@TDI_CharlieBrown The problem isn't with the story. The problem was with the execution
Outside thought: Stone masons survived the apocalypse.
did anybody else laugh and cry at the same time seeing the dino book? i would hope so 😔😭
No matter how hard they tried , I still hate Abby💔 R.I.P Joel
Legit. Nah man this game ruined me. Mans got a new daughter. And he never heard dad from her. Damn bro
What is the name of the song that starts when she picks up his watch
I have been wondering the same thing
Unbroken from the OST
"Bring my dumbass husband home in one piece please"
lmao
I love the owl cup for coffe and sketches she does😢
We can see how much ellie is blaming herself, if she hadn't ignored him, thinking that this could have ended differently
Мне даже трудно представить, какой силы эмоциональный накал будет литься на зрителя, когда общие эпизоды во втором сезоне будут разыграны Педро Паскалем и Бэллой Рамзи ! Тогда плакать можно начинать с первой серии.
My brother loves this game but the minute he knows that joe is going to die on the game. Stop and never continue the game till this day 😭😭😭😭😭
I wish there was a drawing or picture for Ellie to have of her and Joel.
I mean we all can see it, how they had a connection of Heart So they could at least confess their love to each other …knowing that Joel could be a good father of Ellie’s 😭
Imagine more flowers in house but sweet she still visited him no I don’t want joel to die but didnt see how yet
I wasn’t expecting that when the game came out
This has to be a new world record you made a game that became one of the most popular games in the world then make a sequel that ruined the series completely
Life... it's just not always as we want. This is what the sequel tries to show us. I personally like the sequel... and feel horrible about the eternal sundering of Joel and Ellie.
It's called life. 🤷 And it hardly 'ruined' anything seeing as how the TV show is widely popular and the first episode barely came out. Sounds like you expect things to be wrapped up in a pretty pink ribbon and no honey....it just doesn't work that way. 🤷
@@cfinley81 why reply to a 2 year old comment i don't care anymore lol
@@strawberrymilk2532 probably u learned u r wrong
@@keiiroz8 how did i learn i was wrong when i was right
God, I wish we got more time to flesh out Dina because she's just kinda flat as a character.
Yeah sure they outdid part one… if you are into woke replacement of everything.
@@Timmeh_The_tyrant woke replacement? Joel got sloppy by thinking he took care of all lose end ie killing off every fire fly who mattered, he didn't expect the daughter of some unknown dead doctor to spend years of her life training to kill her fathers murder. 5 years in the apocalypse is a long time I suspect when no one came for Joel after a year or two he let down his guard. Abby need to get jacked inorder to get near Joel with the amount of infected, scars and hunters in-between them. Abby mirrors Ellie in every way they are like the same two side of the same coin which was done amazing well. It's a fantastic game with a roller coaster story like no other, I'm sorry you can't let go of your dislike towards the game to where you can appreciate how truly amazing it is.
Honestly I almost quit the hold game seriously how do you kill one of the most be loving characters in gamer history rip Joel I want forget you😢😢😢😢😔that’s a promise
Yikes dude…go touch grass.
@@weebabyshakeus man, liking a character is so bad huh?
Who makes the time to make a tombstone during that times?
TH-cam recommendation + the title ruined it for me -_- I haven't got to that part yet
I will never in a million years touch this game never even if it's a cheap I won't cause my boy Joel is dead.
Then don't. Nobody cares.
@@cfinley81 I personally wouldn't have had a problem with this game if it weren't for how theres a trans person in the game. It's so disgusting and ungodly and unnatural!
@@cfinley81 apparently u do
Joel was never the main character anyway. Sure, you controlled him throughout the majority of part 1, and the plot started with him, but its always been Ellies story. The plot revolves around her.
HBO pleas dont kill joel 😢
At least he died on a yard, most of the other people died worse or just became infected
He died by someone smashing his head in with a golf club. He went out in a horrible fashion.
This still hurts to see
Legit makes me deep. All i wanted was ellie to call him dad. Something like that. Some happy moments. But no this bs
Dude, what a way to spoil it for me
2 years😂
I hope in the show he doesn’t die or they fake his death lol
They're gonna follow the original plot unfortunately.
That would kinda destroy the plot line of it.
Nobody wants Joel to die but its just how it supposed to be
Not necessarily….. she ended up alone , she needs to have some kind of happy ending
Pedro is amazing but if they ever need a replacement i think Hugh jackman would nail it th-cam.com/video/vUQjk7HmZJA/w-d-xo.html
Joel has a big house
They better change season 2.... Joel can't die!!!
But the game wants me to be sad for abby... disgusting lol
@@seventythreedavid I would actually love to see that movie
You're all so whiny
@@seventythreedavid Cry more
Is that the sequel of the "game of decade"
If people hating the game for joels death then naughty dog made the game right, cause thats what they want to feel the game. The hatred over the character.
I knew that joel is going to die here for what he did in saint mary. But ididnt expect to be like his death to be like this.
