This song is so calming and soothing. Love it every time I hear them sing it.

This is the Bat Cave from the cheesy old Batman TV series (holy reverb, Batman!) when I was a kid. You might not remember it.
Apparently it is from Griffith Park by the observatory in California.

From what I"ve read it is also the cave from the movie Alien. But you know how things get told on the internet. (I've never really seen the movie, I watched part, and turned it off, just required the death of too many brain cells)

I love this - my favourite part (if I had to choose) is Mitch as he sings that wonderful note with the line, The Great I Am (I think that's the lyric) - so beautiful and pure sound.

This arrangement takes my breath away every time I hear it! I love listening and just appreciating the beauty of the music; but, below are a few things that, when I listen analytically, I notice and make me appreciate the song even more:
Having sung acapella, I learned that the absence of vibrato helps voices blend. The soloist will use it at times, but the background vocals use it very minimally. Not using vibrato requires more breath control and pitch accuracy. If you listen to the top acapella groups carefully (PTX is certainly belongs in this category) you will see this technique consistently. This just emphasizes the skill of each member of the group.
Kevin, who has classical training, is very into counterpoint. (There are good TH-cam videos explaining this technique in composing and arrangement.) It was Bach's incredible application of counterpoint that makes his music stand above others and why many current pop and rock MUSICIANS still study his music. It is used in many PTX arrangements, such as this one, to great effect.
The other technique that PTX uses masterfully is voice leading. (This is how the vocal line of each individual part, isolated from the others, flows and sounds on its own.) There is a TH-cam channel that has created learning tracks of PTX songs for the individual parts. I knew the arrangements were amazing; but, when I was able to see how simple and smooth the voice leading was written for each part, I was blown away! The arrangements are truly works of art.

@@JeffreyHackReacts I appreciate your observations well: the audio effects, comments on different air flow, the resolution of the harmony at the high point, the quality of the vocal percussion, the shot composition, and the value of having a quality bass. Everyone picks up on different details and I enjoy having those I didn't notice brought to my attention. I also liked how you let the video play and primarily use text comments during the first play through. It's always a pleasure to see someone moved by music!

How in the world does this have only 5 views and this is the first comment? Something must have gone wrong in the distribution or something weird. At any rate, as usual, your reaction and then analysis was just superb.

It was because the content was blocked for a month before the TH-cam released the copyright claim on the video. I had originally scheduled the video for the 1st week of December, but that didn't work out.
      Glad you enjoyed the video!!
