    Matt was perfect for this song. And I love the theatrics they did, with their facial expressions. Just an overall fun song. Scott did awesome as always carrying the base line. Kevin with his beats, then Kirsty and Mitch.

      Yes! The facial expressions really brought something powerful to this music video.

      If you wanna see theatrics, you have GOT to check out VoicePlay's version.

    Super breakdown! There is a behind the scenes video of this in a PTXperience vlog I believe where Matt tells us “there comes a time in every bassists life when he has to learn lyrics, and I am NOT ready!” So funny! His laugh is contagious & his smile is full of joy!

    Scott, Kirstie and Mitch all were in musical theater in high school and Matt also took part in musical plays in high school so that definitely makes it a perfect opportunity to add great facial expressions to many vids 😁

    • @vidsorama2
      @vidsorama2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Matt started musical theater early too. He had his first lead in a musical at 9 years old. Ironically, Kirstie and Mitch were in the same play in Texas. Small world.

      As a musical theatre person, I highly concur! They all did a marvelous job getting into character 😁

    PTX is simulating a jazz “big band”. Listen to the background syncopated “horn section”! They do that run in harmony up to a “trumpet
    Scream” by Kirstie and Mitch!

      Yes this was a real Swing number, the style is so upbeat and it takes the theatricality of the performance to a new level.

    If you want to see Matt's upper range, look for a live version of Hallelujah when PTX are on tour. In his solo verse, near the end he goes full falsetto.

    Great reaction! Scott carries the bass throughout the song, his range is just insane. Matt Sallee (the stress is on the last syllable) is sooo good in their 'Evolution of Rihanna' video (done in 1 take live), and in their original song 'Never Gonna Cry Again'. Thank you!

    Creatively genius!! Absolutely enjoyable!! Oh, I think Matt's last name is pronounced SaLEE (emphasis on Lee). 😉 Mitch's "uck" is the funniest thing in the video to me! Lol! Love a of your reactions!!

    What a great job, Pentatonix did with this arrangement! I am always glad, when they allow Kevin or Matt, a solo part! It allows us their fans a chance to see more of their talent!

  • @tamarasmith9060

    I love the whole video, all of their singing & acting! But Mitch's "yuck" & the face he makes with it makes me 🤣 every time! It's those little touches that show they really put as much thought & effort into the fun songs as they do the others.

    • @JeffreyHackReacts
      @JeffreyHackReacts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And it's also those attributes that show how much they enjoy what they do too!

    I really do love all the vocal versions of this song. Pentatonix has the lock on smooth, jazzy version. I love Matt’s seamless smooth sound.. And the richness of the backgrounds. Thanks for your reaction. Since you mentioned the other groups, VoicePlay has a more theatrical version of Mr Grinch. And as for Tim’s range, I think you need to watch Mayday cover by Home Free. If you know, you know.

    "They're never gonna stop-I guarantee it." Haha, you're right. Christmas music is their bread and butter-it's how they are going to put their kids through college and fund their retirements!! Thank goodness they do such a stellar job of it! Enjoyed your insights as always.

    Matt did Falsetto in "It Came Upon The Midnight Clear" from their 2021 Christmas album...
    It was not high, but quite unique to have him sing that part, instead of the others who could easily do that with chest voice...

      Matt went quite high in “When You Wish Upon A Star” as well.

    You might also want to check out VoicePlay’s version of this song from last year. Being them, they had a lot of fun with makeup and costuming. And the vocals are solid and fun.

    Matt did a very good job but.. he's not even close to Avi. It used to be a marvel that all the PTX members were so equally excellent. "No weak spots". Well well we've come a long way from those days. Matt has little dimensionality or resonance in his timbre. It's like milk chocolate with no orange or raspberry or anything else. His voice never booms it just drones on and on.

      I’m not even sure what to say to this - you have your opinion, but I couldn’t disagree with you more. Matt has a gorgeous voice, rich and full. He’s not Avi (the guy who left) he is his own joyous, wonderful person that add a new dimension to the group.

    • @drieuxkoeppel8152
      @drieuxkoeppel8152 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Is it REALLY necessary to bring up Avi after FOUR YEARS?? That is so insulting to Matt’s talent, but it’s also an insult to Scott, Mitch, Kevin, Kirstie and Ben Bram. Why? Because THEY chose Matt from many who auditioned. Would you rather have the group break up because one member didn’t want to be in the group anymore? Make sure you ask AC/DC, Genesis, Journey, Van Halen and more-who did replace a singer in their lineup-and continued with the musical trek. Seriously, KNOCK IT OFF. If you don’t like Matt, then go away. Listen to Avi’s solo material. And stop. Your insults are NOT WELCOME. PERIOD.

    • @MrDavePed
      @MrDavePed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drieuxkoeppel8152 I'm a music critic. Would that more would criticize more and fawn less. We'd have better music for everyone if that were the case. I criticize Matt to teach the listeners what I know and to challenge people to engage in adult conversations about what makes good music good music. I'm usually attacked as mean for my efforts. By children, obviously.

      @@MrDavePed anyone can say they are a music critic. What are your credentials? Where are you published? As a graduate of Berklee and Julliard I know something about music. Matt's voice is different than Avi's but no less excellent; smooth and buttery and not like a drone. What have I done in the music world? I sang for Evensong in St. Peter's Basilica and at a private audience with Pope John Paul II. You are welcome to have your opinion but I don't agree at all.

    • @MrDavePed

      @@cherylhowe1541 My credentials are the truth recognized. There are no other credentials worth any salt.
      "Different but no less excellent" was not learned at julliard. That was learned in your k-12. You argue as an indoctrinated child.

    I also really love the little Mitch touches in this, it just added that little extra to it.
    If you like Mitch's creativity & theatrics...then you'll definitely find Superfruit's (Scott & Mitch's channel) guy.exe entertaining (if you haven't already seen it). The song is great, but the video is what makes it.
