I went recently and its just concrete where the chip shop was and two other shops were. my nan was there that week on holiday and told me about. I didn't believe her at first but I do now after seeing pictures of it.
I suspect not long ago because the water wasn't rusty. However it's evident it wasn't opened full bore. I have to say I've never ever seen anyone testing hydrants in my large (UK) city in 60+ years! Even hydrant signs are lacking in most cases.
Many people are fascinated by fire it's like a living thing and behaves in ways that make it seem even more alive. It's one of mans oldest and yet most destructive tools. There is also fear and awe at its power to destroy.
Me and my family were staying in the holiday camp across from the chip shop when this happened and we weren’t allowed in the camp because the smoke was so bad it could have burned the roof of the shale. Is was so scary.💕
1 why did he not have hose aswell as standpipe key & bar 2 should of been double head standpipe 3 he's not exactly rushing to get water on to the fire engine If they was using 70mm or 45mm hose they would of run out of water by time he got that on unless only used hosereels
Norfolk fire only have single headed stand pipes. Can use a dividing breech on the standpipe to get more volume but we don’t know what f they did that further up
Deep fat fryer chip fryer. On the same day i got stuck at the top of a roller coaster family star at pleasure beach then our oven cooker breaks down so we had to order take away and now we cant go out anywhere cuz we have to wait for the stupid man to come fix the oven
Holey Cow Batman, I was not there when it happened and I have never have been there, that brings me to ask, does not ever having been there preclude me from eating Fish & Chips if I ever do go there ???
i live yards away and if this is how the Mandela effect works???? i remember the site being occupied by a coffee shop!!! tell me how a chip fryer catches fire (in the busy period, so it was well attended ) with no-one capable, or trained of/in the use of fire extinguishers???? the place must have been checked very recently by the fire brigade if it was a chip shop as it only just changed from a coffee shop??? if i were the nsurers, i would not have paid out!!!
Hi steve to answer your question if a thermostat becomes faulty on a deep fat fryer then it can cause it to catch fire. A faulty stat might not be seen because in a busy chip shop they are often busy serving or cooking... i am only speculating on fire cause but the most likely would of be a faulty fryer whether it was a dodgy thermostat or a control mechanism failure

@@nevillemason6791 in my old brigade hydrant testing was put out to to private tender . What could possibly go wrong?
Many brigades now use a man in a van to inspect hydrants - it doesn't work!

Whenever i was trained, the person shipping a hydrant always took a standpipe bar and key and A LINE OF HOSE.
in my fire departement we are 2 persones for pluging the water to the truck : teamboss has a 20m hose + a key and the teammate has 2 20m hoses

That fire hydrant could do with servicing. The main valve is extremely stiff.
