A lot easier to keep the water/electric in situ, and easier from a planning perspective to keep the same footprint. Not sure if you'd save on CIL tax keeping it within the same footprint too?

Hemsby is brilliant. Have been going there since I was born, 22 years later and I’m still in love with it. Sundowner chalet park, those fish and chips are the best ones about!

My gran lived at Beighton between Norwich and Gt. Yarmouth. She had a week in a bungalow there in the sand dunes every year in the 1960s and we always went to Robinson's Restaurant on the last day of our holiday. We played crazy golf at Hembsby and used to watch people riding on sort of 4 wheel wide bikes.

How times have changed I wouldn't dream of staying in a holiday park now.

Grew up in Newport as a second home as a kid my grandad was a cabaret singer. As a result sang in the seabreeze and bell every Sunday for years 80s & 90s during the summer season (donny & Johnny).
Still go there regularly and people still now me as donnys grandson.

Had many years at Newport in a caravan with my mum and dad. Then more years in a chalet at beach road down the glebe. The camp at Newport was seafields. I’m sure the diner was originally painted yellow in the 70s. Had my first coke float there. Little johns shop in beach road seems to be stuck in time as well. So many memories of happier times thanks Tim

I remember going on holiday in Newport as a child in the early 2000’s nothing has changed here at all since then. I now live in Ingoldmells near Skegness and It just like this in the winter, the only difference is the amusements in ingoldmells close in the winter. It’s Quiet and deserted…..lovely.

My childhood and young teens was spent every year at Hoseasons Hemsby, Bevans had the most amazing food, and the bakery next door done amazing cakes..
I’m happy to see MBs survived.
I remember the grass around the sea front was sharp, and had signs saying beware of grass snakes 🐍
Loved Hemsby, not sure I would go back, as i think it would dampen my amazing memories and the constant love I hold for the place ❤️

I stayed there camping (when they also had a campsite) for the Glasgow Fair Fortnight in July 1969 and July 1970 and the club house looks just the same the only change is the owner had a house to the right as you went through the front gates. The owner managed to get us tickets in 1969 for the sold out show for Engelbert Humperdinck, who was my mothers favourite at the time. I also saw the First Moon Landing in the clubhouse tv. Great seeing the place again, thanks.

Aah memories. I holidayed at Newport caravan park as a child in 1982 - the entrance looks almost exactly the same. Also, as a child, holidayed at Seacroft a couple of times, which was the second Pontins site in Hemsby - that was a real hi-de-hi sort of experience and yes, I stayed in a chalet which looked an awful lot like that shed at the gate - nice that they have preserved it. As a young adult I found myself living in north west Norfolk so was able to do what this video does and experience all of the major resorts out of season which I enjoyed.

We stay at Sundowner holiday park in newport every year . The high metal green fence has never been a problem. In fact it keeps out the pub revelers when they leave late at night It also secures the park in winter when the season is over, making the privately owned chalets more secure.

Used to go to hemsby every year when I was a kid with my parents. We stayed in a friends caravan in Newport and spent most nights in the Bermuda club playing in the arcade while mum and dad got drunk watching the entertainment. Went about 7 years on the trot until I was about 14. Have some great memories of the place and went back a few years ago aged 40! Place was almost exactly the same. In fact I was sure the shops in hemsby still sold the same clothes 😂.

Best place in hemsby for a breakfadt id the route 66 cafe. It's round near the istanbul kebab shop. Near oasis amusements. Beautiful food. Kind staff and great portions. This video was great and sheds a light on ehat most people dont really see, and that ks hemsby pretty much empty.

Used to come to Hemsby EVERY year with my Dad, Mum and Brother. Used to stay in Pontin's and was always there for the Country and Western Festival. Also used to stay at Duncan Foley's holiday chalets which when we used to come was his Dad's company so it was called Brian Foley's holiday chalets. First time I ever got drunk was at MB's disco upstairs and I was with my brother and I got drunk on the small cans of Calsberg Special Brew. I had 10 cans but I was only 13 but looked a lot older. I have a vague recollection of the disco being called Mrs B's disco back then. I am talking 1987. I really miss going to Pontin's, had very VERY fond memories of my times there. 1st time I fell in love, well that's what I thought when I was about 10-11ish and I remember her being from Essex and had long blonde curly hair. I was devastated when she had to go home and inconsolable by my parents lol. The pool in Pontin's was fantastic, loved the arcade and the snooker room. still have photos from back then. Thank you for this video, you helped revisit so many wonderful memories. Subscribed to your channel.

We used to go to Hemsby when I was a kid during the sixties,,,,there was nothing there. There is more there now. I used to like trying to catch the crickets and grass hoppers in the sea grass. We used to go to Brancaster which is even more deserted.

I worked at Seacroft in the 90s. By then it was just OAPs and I was lighting director for the cabaret and sporting activities co-ordinator by day. Every week the guests would arrive often by coach all the way from Scotland or the North of England and nearly every week we would have a fatality on the Saturday night. All the staff would use the other Pontins for night life and often I wouldn't leave Hemsby for weeks on end.

Spent many many years from 1990-1996 at Pontins Hemsby on BYBA marching band camps. The walls of that camp could tell some very interesting stories. What a place it was. Fond memories. Sad to see it has gone now. But I saw that the old 1960s style Seacroft Pontins over the road had been taken over by Richardson's holidays so still is in use - well I hope it still it is.

I've only just found your channel and I've been really enjoying your videos, it's really good to see something different to the usual "luxury" travel reviews, and I really enjoy your honest reviews on some of the worst hotels and holiday parks, and I'm really glad you have done a video on hemsby, my favourite favourite family holidays as a kid was at pontins hemsby, and my mum was absolutely devastated when I showed her the abandoned pontins pictures, and we are so happy that they are doing something with it now, we have very fond memories of hemsby in particular the beach and the fish and chip restaurant and we remember Billys bingo in the amusement arcades, Id really like to bring my mum and dad back here soon for a bit if nostalgia,

Nice video Tim. The aerial views of Hembsy & Newport are very nice... I wish they’re was sand dunes and sandy beaches like those in London, when you fancy a stroll outside. I wasn’t expecting that, seeing you and Gabby in those holiday park photos. 😂 👍

I explored the old pontins a few years back when it was derelict , nice to see it being repurposed , I really thought it would of been flattened!

I think some of these holiday parks are lacking character around the grounds , They would look so much nicer if small variety of trees were dotted here and there on the parks, it would look more inviting. Maybe a wooden fort and zip wire for the children made out of logs

@@WalkWithMeTim It was an arcade that closed down and was turned into a clothes shop and chip shop that burned dowIt was near enough opposite what use to be Caesar palace which is now Richardsons. So much has changed from when we use to come on holiday in Hemsby . My mumused to book holidays with Horizon Holidays booking office which is no longer there. We have had hloidays in Bermuda holiday park even rented a caravan in Newport Seadell and Bell Aire so have had alot of holidays in Hemsby. Pontins use to be humming with holiday makers.
