As a Colombian, that's not a plátano asado, that looks so dry. Real platano asado is so sweet and has a really soft texture, literally no need to chew because of how soft it is
I just went into the comments to say the exact same. As a Colombian I feel offended for the type of plantains they used, the plantains have to be very ripe, that’s not “plátano asado” by a long shot. Plus that’s not really a street food per se. They should’ve picked empanadas, cholado, arepa e’ huevo, etc. Not very good research on their end.

Even as a Chilean, I'm not a big fan of mote con huesillo, so I can understand some of them not being crazy about it. I wish they'd shown them "sopaipillas", "pastel de choclo", "empanadas de pino" or even "completos italianos" haha
I am from Colombia and I must say that the "Platano asado" is NOT like that (or at least the one that is eaten in my country) first the plantain must be ripe to be eaten easily, the one in the video looked dry and stiff, it looked like green plantain (which is drier and saltier and is used to make "Patacón"). The idea of a ripe plantain is that it is soft and at the same time sweet so that when you put cheese on it, you can feel the combination of sweet and salty. In Colombia, the sweet guava or "Bocadillo" is also added.

Just a little note as an Ecuadorean, Espumilla is made with Guayaba not papaya which is what gives it that tangy taste, the pink one that they show in the video is made with Mora which is blackberry topped with Arope de Fresa o Mora which is a strawberry or blackberry puréed and then heated up until thickened which is also a little sour 🥰 (by the way the Espumilleras which are the ladies who sell it, whip it by hand until you can turn the bowl upside down and it will not fall) ❤️🇪🇨

As a Peruvian reading the comments of my fellow Latin-Americans, we can all agree that these recipes are all wrong. It’s like they got all the different countries and mixed up the ingredients that don’t belong together. Argentinian chimichurri on Peruvian anticucho, Chilean pebre on Argentinian chorizo and the dried banana with cheese that doesn’t look Colombian at all. Imagine being an American and people giving you beans on toast with ketchup or other British food mixed with the wrong types of ingredients and saying it’s your food. Every country in South America is different, independent with diversity in music, food etc. Even if we all speak Spanish they’re all different in sound and jargon, but we understand each other which is really cool. And what about Brazil 🇧🇷 , the biggest country in South America that doesn’t speak Spanish but we understand them as well. Where’s their food? I think this mix up comes from thinking that we’re like states. Please come to South America and try the real dishes.

The video is about south american food, I do believe the producers tried their best to present what they thought would be nice BUT they failed regarding some of the information given. After seeing the comments I want to say that as a whole region we're very rich in different cultures and gastronomies. It's immature and dividing trying to invalidate and erase a dish just because of personal preferences. Dishes have variants per regions and countries etc. In lots of counties there are different iterations of ceviche. The dish that was presented was its own thing, it's CEVICHOCHO. Do not attack a country's or region's gastronomy just because the producers didn't include your own. Grow up.

I'm from Ecuador and maybe it is because I have only eat a one specific kind of espumilla from Quito but I have never eat one with papaya, and normally it is light pink because it is supposed to be made with guayaba (guava) 😅

I visited Peru for a missions trip when I was a teen. They had all of us try Inca Kola. Everyone tasted something different. Some said cream soda, some said bubble gum, I personally tasted banana. It is such an interested drink.

El ceviche de chocho o tarwi es un plato típico de Ancash, no es lo mismo que el cevichocho de Ecuador, son nombres diferentes para platos diferentes, por favor una googleada antes de comentar sin conocimiento, no es en mal rollo, pero mucha gente parece que se olvida que no solo hay platos típicos en Lima y el norte costeño, tenemos tanta variedad en la sierra y ni hablar de la selva, solo que la gente no se da el tiempo de buscar😢.
I feel like the pupusas were not given a good chance. Cheese and Loroco pupusas (I feel) are an acquired taste kind. Beans, Chicharron and cheese or simply cheese and chicharron would be the one given the best chance!

In Brazil we make barbecue with chicken hearts and it's AMAZING. Just a lil bit of salt, put it in the grill and enjoy when it's ready to eat

I visited Peru for a missions trip when I was a teen. They had all of us try Inca Kola. Everyone tasted something different. Some said cream soda, some said bubble gum, I personally tasted banana. It is such an interested drink.

Cevichocho? quiza no consiguieron pescado fresco para hacer el ceviche original, pero interesante opcion vegetariana. Y al chocho se le llama tambien Tarwi, que es extremadamente nutritivo y tambien rico

El ceviche de chocho o tarwi es un plato típico de Ancash, no es lo mismo que el cevichocho de Ecuador, son nombres diferentes para platos diferentes, por favor una googleada antes de comentar sin conocimiento, no es en mal rollo, pero mucha gente parece que se olvida que no solo hay platos típicos en Lima y el norte costeño, tenemos tanta variedad en la sierra y ni hablar de la selva, solo que la gente no se da el tiempo de buscar😢.
