    You’re the best fashion-related creator! These side-by-side outfits are so helpful. Content like this is exactly what I need! I learned, for instance, that chunky shoes are not for me, no matter how I style them. You style them really well, so now I can understand that I personally don’t like them on me (it’s not just how I style them that’s the problem). I’ve always hated Birkenstock’s, and I can see that it’s just not my personal taste even when someone does a great job styling them. Thanks, Audrey!!! I love everything about your content and style!

  • @Veronensis

    To me, it's not that basic, because I never wear shoes indoors (and I work from home, even before lockdown, so that means I don't wear shoes for most of the day) So I tend not to think about shoes until i need to run an errand, and then I just grab my go-to most comfortable pair of shoes, despite whatever outfit I'm wearing. This inspires me to at least think about shoes a little bit more

    • @dopkasa.1171
      @dopkasa.1171 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same! Working from home, never wear shoes indoors, only think about shoes when I go out and usually use my go-to pair which are soooooo comfortable, but not so pretty. I love walking and getting lost in my city. I traditionally prioritize comfort over look. Currently looking for more stylish, sturdy, comfortable shoes for long walks.

    Audrey, a couple months ago during a heat wave I was meeting someone for the first time and wanted to look nice/dressy but still comfortable/cool in the heat. I was at a loss until I remembered your lessons. I forced myself to set aside my preconceived notions of which clothes were "formal" and "informal". I ended up wearing my black "dressy" shorts, changing out the belt that came with them, and paired them with a comfortable gray t-shirt. Changing out the belt and mixing it with a casual t-shirt was so simple, but not something I would have thought of had it not been for your lessons on breaking the mold and getting out of the usual style combinations. Thank you for all your lessons. I looked and felt great that day, and I am continuing to challenge myself to pair my clothes in fresh ways. Love from California!

    As a retired Image consultant, I love that you are aiding women in shoe choices. It is really quite simple. Either match your skin tone( as close as you can with the style you’ve chosen, or your hair color. Blonds have it easiest! Hope this clarifies the balance from top to bottom. You always look coordinated (hair and shoes). No matter color(s) of your outfit. Love your approach, your inner and outer beauty. Thank you.

    • @judidoherty936
      @judidoherty936 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Woman of a Certain Age . My suggestion is a basic approach. Shoes in your skin or hair color are good, no matter the colors in your outfit. They are a practical way to begin. Then, after you gave the basics, you can feel great about buying any other colors you’d like. I hope this answers your question.

    Shoes speak to where you are going . I thought the Birkenstocks and the chunky Chelsea boots looked bad with the dress . Last summer I bought the same leather above the ankle slouchy Ron White 2" heel boot in black and light caramel colours . I love them both but spend more time than I should deciding which boots would look best with which outfit . This helped visualize how they would look . I'm keeping the light ones for light coloured pants or skirts and the black for my darker outfits . The side by sides were very useful .

    Hello, dear Audrey! Loved the outfits themselves: for instance the delicate dress is stunning, as is the white blouse and light pants/belt. But the chunky dark shoes/boots just don’t look right to me with any of the light clothes. I understand the “fun” effect intended by that particular contrast, but it just looks jarring to my eyes. I think if there was more of a bridge between hyper-feminine and super clunky/masculine - say that same dress but in a dark color or print and with the heavy boot, it would work for me. Thanks for hearing out my comment.

Even though it was a kitten it made you look tall & thin. Verse wearing the same outfit with the chunky heel and strap across the front.

    I'm 56 and I find your videos so helpful to keep my wardrobe fresh. I lean toward classic pieces and they can be somewhat stale, especially as we age.

    Laying it out like this really demonstrates the power shoes/boots can play with a single item like a dress....I was so surprised at HOW much of a difference it can make....always heard the rhetoric but this visual made everything crystal clear.....the vibe changes because of the shoes.....beautifully done sweet girl as always...and YES I, too, watch all the ADs to support you as you are so incredibly talented and wonderful...big hugs..

    thank you! I have always been struggling with the shoe choices. if i could a wish, though, i have not found much suggestions for what to match with pencil skirts and knee length dresses, rather than long dresses. perhaps another video?

    Thank you so much for this video! One thing I really struggle with is shoes! I love boots but struggle with how to style them, and living in the UK, changing from one season to another always throws me where footwear is concerned. The more videos on shoes the better! 💖

    This was such a great excercise indeed!
    Not all of the combinations: 'outfit versus shoes' suited my personal taste, but it was great to see how the shoe selection can transfer the entire outfit to something completely different.
    I've been experimenting with the contrast: 'shoes versus outfit" quite a lot, and I think I ve found some nice combinations in my wardrobe.
    I really love Audrey how you look in that white dress, it looks like it has been made for you to wear it! In my personal opinion, it looks the best with wedges and birkenstocks; and with the brown boots for fall. I would love to see you wearing it with beige/snake print heels from the another combination too!

    I really liked this. I’m not sure I realized how important shoes are. Shoes are a real challenge for me, so I don’t have as many style options but I do have control over the contrast my footwear does/doesn’t offer a particular outfit. I hope you do more of these!
