In my experience implant failure is very common. I have had three and two of those failed. One failed at day 1 and the other after about 2 years. Performed by three different doctors all of whom claimed to be the best oral surgeon ever.
My mom is 77 years old. Five of her teeth are implants. The rest are her own natural teeth. Four of them failed. They had to be redone at full price. The fifth one got infected. She had it redone full price. This was couple of years ago. Now they are fine and she is not having any problems. But yes they can fail and get infected. Just like your natural teeth.
I don’t have implants but I have had teeth pulled. Any dental surgery is very scary. Not unusual to be afraid. Really hope it goes really well for you.
My implant fell out within a month if fitting. Trouble is we had lockdown and I couldn’t see dentist for over a year. They told me the implant specialist no longer worked for them. The owner of the practice was not in the country. So I lost a lot of money and I have a gap in the front of my mouth
Ive always been concerned about needing implants in the future. I have two small composite fillings on my front top encisor (floss everyday people). Do you think im at risk for needing an extraction in the far future? Thanks doc 😅
Question.. after my first surgery sinus lift and bone grafting my nose were stretched out and I looked different. Is it gonna go back to normal again? Thank you.
I've had 4 done and it was not as painful as having a tooth pulled even after it is done it doesn't hurt the same at all. It's just a little sore. And I have a very sensitive mouth I was in agony having my tooth pulled but the implant was nothing. Try not to worry😊
My implant is failed and bleeding now off and on after 15 years. There's also some mucus I keep getting around top of tooth. I don't have money for new one tho
I hand had dental implant in back lower molor put in 18 months ago. it failed and need to be replaceed. I have replace 100% free. But the crown I have to pay. just checking crown should covered 100% free too?
My mom had to pay for the implant and the crown. When hers failed. If the dentist said he would cover the crown then yes. If he didn’t tell you that then no you will have to pay for it. Dentists doing these things are not doing good job. Of explaining implants are not A one and done. There is risk of implant failure and infection. If anything breaks you have added out of pocket costs. Unless you have a lot of money. Getting just regular bridge is the affordable option. My insurance covered my bridge. Implants they wouldn’t didn’t have any problems with it. For the 16 years I had it. Or partial dentures.
You have given more info in a few minutes than I have gotten in many visits.Great job informing us all ! Thank You !

Is there medication that can cause failure?
Thanks for the great info! Should an Oral Surgeon do the implant removal or is it ok for the Peridontis to do it?
I wish someone would answer your question my dentist offered an implant says he does them. I am nervous
Doc I had a implant 14 days ago and it just fell out.....why
Has anyone told you why? What did your Dentist say or your surgeon?
I recommend reaching out to your dentist or oral surgeon for guidance on why the implant may have fallen out.
My implant is failed and bleeding now off and on after 15 years. There's also some mucus I keep getting around top of tooth. I don't have money for new one tho
Go to Turkey and get it fixed. I went to Prime Dental in Izmir Turkey and it’s definitely more affordable. Good luck
😢
Oh no that doesn’t sound good. Can you at least have dentist look at it. You might have infection.
