Any help would be appreciated 👍
I passed my Cat A Mod2 yesterday and like many watched this vid before I got started with bike lessons - defo helped with the nerves and top vids all around!
Why on earth are there not more videos on this channel. Your tone of voice, relaxed way of talking is great. I've been rising motorcycles over 20 years, but now being back in the UK I find myself in a situation that I have to take a driving test as my bike license isn't valid here. Your video seriously was a nice way of knowing what to expect. Hopefully you're ok and in the future we can expect more.
Cheers matey. I watched your Mod 1 and Mod 2 videos before each test and they definitely contributed to me passing both first time. Just passed Mod 2 today (23/12 @ 2.30pm)! Many thanks and hope to see more of your content in 2023.
This guy made some seriously good videos! Watched every single one of them prior to taking each stage and it helped me so much so that I now have got my full A licence. I am however seriously disappointed that this guy doesn't make anymore videos so KEEP GOING mate!! You made some amazing content that helped a loads of people man (myself included) so again KEEP GOING cause its a pleasure to watch your content :D
Thank you mate, like many in the comments, I’ve just returned home with a fresh new licence! This isn’t even my first as you calmed nerves for my previous A2 and now for full A. Your video quality is just too good! Thank you 👍
My instructor said what you don't want to hear from the examiner is "cancel your signal", if you hear that you've probably failed. Every time i turn into a road i say "new road, cancel signal", started that during lessons and i still do it now i've passed.
Great shout, yeah the instructor should give you plenty of opportunity to cancel your indicators so if they have to tell you it'll probably have been on after you've passed a junction. Great tip thanks!
Thanks. This video helped me out loads although failed my mod 2 today because he asked me to pull over in a safe place, examiner pulled in front of me(he parked on a bend opposite a junction) I pulled off when it was safe but didn’t see an oncoming van going around a blind bend. So he failed me for not being able too see around corners. Lol
Mod 2 really depends so much on what the other road users are doing around you, so there's definitely an element of luck. So annoying. Well, I'm glad you liked the video, even if you didn't pass - this time ;)
Had my Mod 2 A license on Thursday, came across this just before the test and it helped me a lot, especially with my nerves! Passed it 👍🏻 thanks for the video
Failing to stop for anyone who walks into the road crossing or not due to the law change.vulnerable persons act ,failed my mod 2 turning into test centre because a kid decided to just cross the road as I was already turning. He wasn't anywhere near me but because he had left the pavement I failed for planning ahead. Sucks but booked try number 2 😂
Passed my mod1 this morning, I found the apprehension worse than the actual test. Hopefully the mod2 is much the same, I'll find out 2 weeks Thursday! 👌. Great vid, Simple and informative
@@bradhiggs1200 If you can, definitely go on a practice run around the test centre on your own bike before the test day and get used to the roads so you have an idea of road layouts and hazards like roadworks etc. Treat the examiner like he is a satnav in your ear and ride for yourself and don't think about if he will make it through the traffic lights etc with you, he will always catch up with you or tell you to pull over and wait. Before you start your test just make sure you can hear him clearly in your earpiece nice and loud, if you have a noisy helmet his voice might get quiet on the road so just double check that! Get comfortable on your bike and just keep breathing to stay calm. I had my independent ride straight away so just be prepared you might get the same, but just remember to look out for signs where you need to go and speed changes, and check mirrors about every 10 seconds, keep about 2 seconds from the car in front and stop 2 bikes back in traffic. You might get pulled over a few times but but that doesn't mean you have done anything wrong, he just wants to see how you move off. remember to turn your head when using your mirrors to prove you are using them and obviously lifesaver checks as well always! If you do take a wrong turn that's not a problem, I accidentally went in a left turn only lane but just turn around and get back on track, you won't get marked down for that. On roundabouts have a quick check to see what is coming on the opposite end of the roundabout, if the cars on the right are giving way to their right, just make sure there isn't anything coming around the corner as you move off! If you're not sure just wait for the next gap. If you haven't already, have a look on the gov website for the show me tell me questions and pillion passenger questions and answers, I got asked 1 of each but they're pretty much common sense answers! At the end of the day you just want to show the examiner you can do everything safely, so just keep looking around you and being aware of what's happening on the road ahead and adjust accordingly, honestly I treated most of the test like a fun ride out, remember the the examiner is a human too and wants to see you pass! Have fun and good luck bro!
My mod 2 is Friday. Didn’t know if you stalled its a fail. That must only be if your blocking the junction. Ill ask on Thursday on my training day. Good video

@@BeinginMotion sorry just seen this haha it’s kinda stressful cause am really really hopeful it’ll get done this year .. with all that’s going on and that really don’t wanna do my theory all over again next year
thanks for taking the time. An incredibly well made video. Calm commentry and unambiguous in every respect. I appreciate that. Can't thank you enough. i do have some other questions about mod 2 though. is it ok to ask them here? example... Do i have to ask the examiner if it is ok to record from helmet cam? i'm sure the examiner will request their audio and visual is removed entirely, but should i ask and explain ? or can i just run the cam and edit them out later? .. another example.. is it a fail to put foot down on, not over, the PAINTED LINE of a different lane, such a cycle or bus whilst waiting in a queue? When starting off, not crossing any lanes, should it be 'left right left' shoulder? Or is right then left enough? or should it be left then right ?. I always seem to dismount from bike on the offside (throttle side). is that a scenario that would be a failure major, or minor or insignificant because observations were made? thanks for any tips and answers. And again thanks for the good video. You are a star.
Thanks for your kind words! OK, so by-the-book, you're supposed to get filming approval by the DVSA for either the MOD1/2. I've noticed other creators have got round this which I assume is down to individual examiners / yolo-ing it. Your call but if you chance it, it's very likely you'll be told you can't film. If they do let you (or don't notice) then it's deffo worth blurring the instructor out for their security & privacy. There's no specific rule I know of about the foot in a different lane specifically but anything that causes a driver to change their speed or direction (as a result of something you did) is a fail, which this definitely could qualify as. Mirrors/setting off, I was told to check right, left, right, shoulder check then go - as the picture in your left mirror doesn't change as quickly. As long as you have a picture of what's behind you before you make your move it's ok and not super strict. Dismounting I was told to go on/off the left/brake side - partly as the footstand holds your weight and also that the resting hand wasn't on the throttle side. I don't know if that's enshrined in law but the examiner can penalise you if they think you're not in control of the bike which they could judge such a dismount accordingly
Excellent upload. Just one point.. Leaving an indicator on past a junction or stalling wouldn't be an immediate fail. The mistake in itself isn't the problem it's the effect it has on other road users so indicator past an empty junction....no fail unless a car is there as it may think you're turning left and pull out. Stalling with no one around....no fail unless you're causing an obstruction or danger and don't get out of it relatively quickly and safely. Impressive upload though. ☺
Hello, thanks! Yes, apologies for being unclear, you’re (of course) absolutely right - the error isn’t stalking but causing another driver to change speed or direction. Love the channel btw!
I failed, just about 400m away from way back to test centre, took the wrong exit on the roundabout then I didn't know what to do so I stopped and the car behind me was waiting on my move. Shame, I got the test booked on 6th of January
@Daveyboy1983 isn’t it just!! When you have L plates on a bike, you just become a target for impatient drivers who have the stereotypical image that you’re slow! I think they’re dangerous to be honest.
I was asked on a show me tell me how a pillion would affect the balance of the bike, making the front end light is not the correct answer, I've ridden with Pillions lots over the years and they never really seem to make much difference. I guess the extra weight would pull you over more than usual?
Hey, sorry about the delay... Here's the official advice: Balance and stability is affected due to the motorcycle becoming ‘top heavy’, particularly at lower speeds. Steering will become lighter due to less pressure on the front tyre. Accelerating will take longer than usual which will affect overtaking. Extra weight will increase breaking distances, increasing significantly in wet and icy conditions. Cornering is affected as the extra weight will make the motorcycle lean more than expected.
When you thought you had failed on the roundabout, why wasn't that wrong, was it because that was a light controlled roundabout? Also, is there anything you could have done differently there in terms of positioning?
I thought I'd failed as if you cause anyone to brake or change their direction it's an insta-fail - I was worried that if I was blocking the exit, and vehicles behind me had to swerve around me, that would be it. The traffic lights stopped that from happening but ideally I'd have left space for people to take the turn. Hope that makes sense!
Right passed mod 1 few days ago first time no minors , mod 2 here I come . Seems harder then the mod 1 now . Hopefully all goes well . Not shitting it … yet!
@BeinginMotion Yeah, they do a retest for free. You need to claim for the amount you pay towards the instructor. Also, because it's not a fail, you can rebook it within 10 days. Edit: The examiner said it's only happened 3 times within his 13 years of doing it.
So, in this instance it was about doing anything that would cause another vehicle to stop, swerve or alter their normal pattern of driving. I believe a stall without anyone around would be ok, just if they judge you to be a danger... Congrats at Mod1!
Hi Gideon, well there was traffic lights on the roundabout so there was no on-coming traffic that would've had to brake or swerve. But I didn't know that in the moment. I thought I should have stopped earlier and given enough space for vehicles to enter that left lane.
How can you take the test on a cc bike your not at that point qualified to ride ? I have a cbt but I can’t to my knowledge go out and buy a 650 and then use it for the test.
Hey Rob - yeah you have to do the test on the same cc bike aligned for whatever licence you're going for - A/A1/A2. Most riders (inc myself) went with a riding school who provided the bike & insurance - 600cc - which I was riding with an instructor or in test conditions. I'm not sure how it would work if you did it on your own bike. I assumed it was a insurance condition...
Hi few qs ,can I stop at bus stops double yellows when asked to pull over also can I stop in the box for cyclists at traffic lights ..? Can I stop at dropped curbs ? Thanks
If you passed for an A1 (125cc) License and completed both the Mod 1 & Mod 2 - but you then decide you want to go for the full A License (You're old enough), do you then need to take the Mod 1 & Mod 2 again on the 600cc? As opposed to just doing the Mod 2 again on the 600cc? If that makes sense?
I took a beginners course at RJH in Manchester who were great. Cost £1199.00 for everything - 7 sessions, brokedown like this... Day 1 - Conversion to big bike - 3 hrs Day 2 - Mod 1 ss - 3 hrs Day 3 - Mod 1 hs - 3 hrs Day 4 - Mod 1 test - 3 hrs Day 5 - Mod 2 training - 3 hrs Day 6 - Mod 2 training - 3 hrs Day 7 - Mod 2 test - 3 hrs
Frustrating isn’t it. Cost me 1.2k to get my a2 license passed all my tests first time but now I’m trying to get my A license went back to a riding school to do my test cost me £500 and failed mod 2 twice £230 per fail nearly 2k deep.
Sorry for the late reply. I only just say this - yeah - the cost is crackers. That's before the insurance too. I hear they are considering changing the rules but nothing concrete yet. In other countries motorbikes are a cheap means of transport but here it's an expensive hobby! Be well!
I was hoping someone could clear something up for me. So according to this video and other sources, the Mod 1 and Mod 2 collectively should be near £100 or so. Why are centres charging £600+ (?) What's included with such a massive quote?!
Yeah, you could just pay the DVSA and show up on your own bike but most riders go via riding school - their cost inc the bikes, gear, training, insurance and test fees.
Hi Dan. I don’t know if a photo is enough or not tbh. It should be in my opinion but it’s the DVSA’s opinion that matters. If they need the paper then get in touch with whoever gave you the CBT cert. they can reissue but might change a fee
Sadly I've never been, but I'd love to - especially on a motorcycle - I love India! I heard the roads are organised chaos but somehow it works! Is that about right?
Well, it depends on the consequence of the stall. If you make someone change their speed or direction that's a serious fault. Drivers behind me would have had to brake...

So when u say red mist what else could u have done ??. Since u thought u were blocking traffic .
Hi Gideon, well there was traffic lights on the roundabout so there was no on-coming traffic that would've had to brake or swerve. But I didn't know that in the moment. I thought I should have stopped earlier and given enough space for vehicles to enter that left lane.
Does rolling back on a hill start count as a fail?
Yes most likely, rolling back on a hill start would count as a dangerous driving maneuver.
The examinator 😂😂😂
Hi few qs ,can I stop at bus stops double yellows when asked to pull over also can I stop in the box for cyclists at traffic lights ..? Can I stop at dropped curbs ? Thanks
If you passed for an A1 (125cc) License and completed both the Mod 1 & Mod 2 - but you then decide you want to go for the full A License (You're old enough), do you then need to take the Mod 1 & Mod 2 again on the 600cc? As opposed to just doing the Mod 2 again on the 600cc? If that makes sense?
Yuh, you have to pass both mod1/2 tests on the bike capacity you're gonna ride...
@@BeinginMotion Thank you mate 👍
Just a thought ..how much did u lot pay for ur mod 1 mod 2 combined...das or whuttever...
I took a beginners course at RJH in Manchester who were great. Cost £1199.00
for everything - 7 sessions, brokedown like this...
Day 1 - Conversion to big bike - 3 hrs
Day 2 - Mod 1 ss - 3 hrs
Day 3 - Mod 1 hs - 3 hrs
Day 4 - Mod 1 test - 3 hrs
Day 5 - Mod 2 training - 3 hrs
Day 6 - Mod 2 training - 3 hrs
Day 7 - Mod 2 test - 3 hrs
£88? more like £200 a time on my 3rd attempt now crazy
What?!!!! That is insane
@@BeinginMotion passed. Got a duke 390 coming today. Yay 😁
Congratulations! Great news & great bike!! Have you got any trips planned? I’m heading to Poland in a few weeks. Can’t wait!
Be well!
Got my mod 2 in 4 hrs. Second attempt.
How did you get on Brandon?
I was hoping someone could clear something up for me. So according to this video and other sources, the Mod 1 and Mod 2 collectively should be near £100 or so. Why are centres charging £600+ (?) What's included with such a massive quote?!
Pretty sure that will include training to pass the tests.
Yeah, you could just pay the DVSA and show up on your own bike but most riders go via riding school - their cost inc the bikes, gear, training, insurance and test fees.
how is setting off in wrong gear a fault....
Harsh right?! I think it was under the sin of 'not being in full control'
If I lost my cbt certificate, and I have a photo of it. Is this good enough, hoping so I don’t have to retake cbt before a2
Hi Dan. I don’t know if a photo is enough or not tbh. It should be in my opinion but it’s the DVSA’s opinion that matters. If they need the paper then get in touch with whoever gave you the CBT cert. they can reissue but might change a fee
Subd and liked. 12 months too late. But. Great content.
Did not know a stall was a fail?! 8000rpm it is then.
I think you really like India ?? Have you ever been there and drove a vehicle??
Sadly I've never been, but I'd love to - especially on a motorcycle - I love India!
I heard the roads are organised chaos but somehow it works! Is that about right?
He sounds like coldfusion but for motorcycles
Isn't he an Aussie?!
Stalling is a serious fault?! Wtf
Well, it depends on the consequence of the stall. If you make someone change their speed or direction that's a serious fault. Drivers behind me would have had to brake...
@@BeinginMotion Ah, got ya... I watched your mod 1 video the night before my test, it helped. I passed on Monday. Mod 2 coming up soon.
@@Rahul08LXR Ah glad it helped mate! Good luck on the Mod 2... 🤞Let us know how you get on!
