    I’m thinking a 37mm Yachtmaster would suit you perfectly Sanjay 🤔!

    Thanks for comparing these two and sharing your thoughts. One feature of the Sub is the centre link on the lugs is the same size as all the centre links on the bracelet. This is not the case with many Grand Seiko models where the first centre link is larger than the rest.

    I love Omega and Grand Seiko, but one area where Omega and GS kill me is their overly thick cases. If Rolex can make a 12.5 mm thick chronograph, why can’t Omega make a PO 13 mm thick or GS a 13 mm thick diver? I would rock a PO with the pre-ceramic dimensions.

    • @engineer_wannabe
      @engineer_wannabe  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So true. The thickness of the movements seem to limit these watch brands. GS is turning around with their higher end pieces though 😁

    Great to see the Sub being compared to the Planet Ocean. I have watched many other watch reviews and they always pick the seamaster 300 which doesn’t make sense to be compared to the Sub. I own the new white dial orange ceramic bezel version & I love it but a bit too top heavy so I find myself wearing the Rolex more

    • @engineer_wannabe
      @engineer_wannabe  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I understand why they compare the Sub to the Seamaster 300 or SMP300. The logical comparison for the Planet ocean is probably the Sea Dweller haha.
      That said, This 40mm PO always felt like it should be compared to the Sub.
      Great choice on that Orange and white PO. I wish it came in the 40mm size!

      @@engineer_wannabe Good point forgot about the Sea Dweller. 💯 I would 💙 the orange ceramic in 40mm the fully lumed bezel is just beautiful

    I feel Omega PO is more luxurious in terms of finishing and sub is more toolish. As your comment about who wears them for diving in same sense how much people use the bezel? And let's not forget about the price difference. I feel they both great at the price point they are. But, i totally agree no matter how great sub is but for smaller wrists PO 39.5 is a winner. I wonder why rolex increased the size as though in theory it just 1 mm but overall feel is kinda bigger on the wrists as the older 40mm sub wears a tad smaller.

    Have you tried the 36mm Explorer? Just curious. Unlike this Sub, I think the Explorer would be a good fit for you. I guess there's the OP as well, but I just find them a little too boring.

      @@engineer_wannabe I think the minimalistic way I live the rest of my life is finally creeping into watch collecting after all these years. A small collection of watches I wear and scratch up is more attractive to me right now then having a bunch that look good in a watch box, but never get used. Subject to change of course haha

    The reports on Rolex hand finishing are likely false. No human hand can obtain a completely even polished side, no matter how skilled. It’s either pressed against a polishing wheel by hand, or done directly by a machine with the case held in place, as is the casetop linear brushing. It’s more likely that the Omega has seen more hand work due to the significantly lower production numbers and case complexity. It’s hard for a robot to get those lyre lugs finished to perfection. Rolex produces millions compared to Omega’s several thousands per model line, so they naturally have less time and chance to stop and hand finish things, having to pump them out like the mass-produced good they are.
    Still, great watch, absurd quality, though not worth any more than €5000 to me. Diminishing returns are no joke, and with how simple and pedestrian Rolex watches are, inside and out, there’s no way I’m giving them €11k against something like a SeaQ, which is borderline high horology.
