In this video I talk about the fencing we have here. I have received quite a few questions lately and thought I would cover it specifically for those that are wondering what we use. The name of the product is called Bayco Finish Line. It doesn't rot, break (unless under severe tension), get dirty, cut horses or get chewed on. It's much cheaper than any other alternative out there and in general very safe for horses and people. Easy to install and maintain and fix.

Pretty neat. I use 1.5" wide Polytape from Field Guardian and keep it electrified. I would love to have it on all 3 of our levels, but we have it on the top and .5" Polyrope on the other two. Your fence is stronger by far, but we don't have horses in and out so after a few zaps from the fence my two leave it alone. We have had trees fall on it and it stretches like yours. It's a great investment!

Makes sense. Yes, we have to teach a new horse quite often... Once they learn it though, then there's no problem.

I mentioned in another comment on one of your more recent videos, I'd love to have my horse ( + some friends ) at home.
So I ended up here, after doing research on fencing for horses. ;P
    I have some questions!
We rent our property, and I'm wondering if it would be worth getting this kind of fence from the get-go, or go for a more temporary solution like more plastic t-posts and some electric rope.
If we had to move, what would the re-usability of this kind of fencing be?
Hard to take out the wooden posts? Would they be usable after being pounded in the first time?
What diameter should the line-posts be? Assuming 50mm is a bit small? Would 70mm be ok or still too small?
End/Corner-posts I assume should be atleast 100mm in diameter, with braces.
I see the line itself is splice-able, so I guess that wouldn't be much of a problem?
If you were renting, what would you do in my place?
I'd love a more solid fence like this Finish Line and wooden posts, but I'm also leaning towards something that's more movable while I figure out the ideal tracks for the property.
Maybe both? Have a larger static lounge-area with more solid fencing, and easy t-posts around in a track?
The place we board at, the lady who runs it had to put down two donkeys earlier this year, and will have to put down her horse soon, so I'm honestly assuming she'll want to get out of equines altogether for a while, and quit boarding for others. So I'm trying to figure out how I could make something work at my place, on a reasonable budget. Instead of ending up splitting up the herd, and boarding at a more expensive place.
I'm sorry, this got long and ranty...
But I feel you're a reliable source, whom I trust with these kinds of things!
    Kind Regards!

This type of fencing is totally reusable. Yes, very easily spliced with the splicing connectors and worth buying for sure. The posts needs to be strong enough to put up with pressure on the fence no different than if a horse is leaning on one, so that's up to you. If you put on electric line too then you can probably go for the smaller posts. If you don't wreak the top of the posts and no rocks in the ground to ruin the bottom and you put a little extra wood preservative on the bottom, yes, totally reusable too and if you have a small machine or a truck or something, then they are removable. I wouldn't use t-posts if I could help it. Weak, dangerous if a horse lands on one etc. They rust out anyways. Hopefully that helps, let me know if it doesn't though and you are curious about something else.

Thanks so much! Would you message me about any videos about footings for the different areas of the ranch? Paddocks, outdoor arena, indoor arena and do you have a sand rolling areas? Blessings!

    • @StableHorseTraining
      @StableHorseTraining  5 ปีที่แล้ว

You're welcome. Footings here are all dirt and then filter cloth (heavy landscape fabric) with crusher dust (very fine gravel) on top that is tamped down to be relatively hard. Outdoor and indoor arena are the same with the same cloth but then about 6 to 10 inches of "road base", which is a type of gravel used to make roads actually, is put down and rolled with a 16 thousand pound roller and then washed sand on top of about 2 inches deep or so. There are a few videos so far talking about that in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLSX7fm7VayRVJYujjzRrDMujWqdatefwI.html
