I found this channel because of the Desmosedici restoration and I'm glad I did! This review is awesome as are Chris's bike control skills. And how rare is it to find someone who can ride like an absolute loon but is articulate enough to let us know exactly how the bike feels while doing so? The excellent camera work is the cherry on the cake - I can imagine this footage as part of an Indian promo. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next Desmosedici episode.
Oh man! This is the best review of the 1200 FTR i have seen so far. You rode it like it should be ridden. Awesome man! I had a smile on my face the entire time i was seeing you rip though the gravel. Keep making videos like this one. Cheers!!
Excellent review, more like this please. Chris is very natural/relaxed on camera, feels like he could be chatting to you over a pint in the pub telling you about this bike, great to see.
@@dariamorgendorffer9017 Yeah, I found Bike World's review of FTR way more exciting and thrilling than of others ! and their 690's review is good too 👍🏼
FINALLY. A proper test with a proper rider and an accurate review! Thumbs up to Bike World... I was forced to eat my words. I loved the concept bike and (I thought) I hated the production version util I reluctantly visited an Indian dealership to confirm my preconceived impressions of the spec sheets and photo's. Ive never been so wrong about a bike. The dealer threw me the lure and I was off.... 2 minutes into the test ride and I'm now financially poorer with an FTR 1200 of my own. Bike should come with a WARNING: Test rides may cause a spontaneous purchase
Oh Chris, you hoon, I just f**king love it every time you jump on a bike in front of the camera. Bike World has the two very best guys out now John with his short, straight and to the point way and Chris with his major hoonery. Love it.

This is the first video I've seen you this channel, and I immediately subscribed. My background is in the dirt, and the FTR will be my next bike purchase. So this review was custom tailored for me. Upgrade number one will have to be protection for the radiator, both from spills and debris kicked up by the front tire. Indian makes radiator guards, not sure how well they work. Same for the rally collection front and rear fenders.
I rode this a few months ago when the Indian demo truck showed up. The engine is great, instant power delivery unlike the 1200 cc on the Scout. Felt almost as quick as my GSX-S1000F.

Man, watching other reviewers wobbling this thing round the Baja peninsular really undersold the fun of this bike. Who would have thought what it really needed was some typical British weather to make it really look exciting?
Great review, I always enjoy seeing Chris’s take on a bike. I rode the base model recently and it really surprised me, I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Certainly more than the sum of it’s parts....

This was an excellent, fun to watch, review. Riding dirt roads on mini bikes, then Honda 50's, 60s, 70s, and enduros, is what started my love for riding. I haven't been on a dirt road or trail having fun like that in 40 years, this review reminded me of how huch i loved it! I unsubbed and subbed again just so i could say, subbed.
Great review. The FTR is a phenomenal bike. I had one to test for 3 days and loved it. My regular ride is a 2016 Scout which the FTR is based on motor wise. Indian got it right on the first go with this one🤘🤘🤘
I love your blog on the FTR and lightning it up I want to do exactly what you’re doing except for keep it street legal I have the Technical ability to fabricate an aluminum tank however I don’t want to lessen the amount of fuel I have studied it what do you have removed for weight savings and unfortunately some of that Hass to stay but I’m still looking for a way to make the FTR as light as possible I’m thinking of changing the rims if I can get away without changing the rake and the length of the swingarm I’d like to get it below 400 pounds do you think this is possible. I think this is a screaming bike Whatever input you can give me would be greatly appreciated
I love what you’re doing with the Indian FTR I would like to make this bike as wide as possible but keep it Street legal I like the idea of the aluminum tank what is it needed for weight savings anything you could add to help me make this bike lighter below the 200 kg Mark I’d appreciate any input you can give me
Bike World: Do you feel the bike had the tendency to slide even on wet pavement (of course it will slide on dirt) because of the tire type or because of the instant torque? I'm curious to see the bike ridden with a proper set of grippy street tires. Kick ass review thanks!
PERFECT review, any bike can get you a cup of coffee! There's a lot to like about this bike. Performance is distinctive, capable... fun. Looks wise it's again unique and carves out a niche for itself - but it ALSO has some very nice Ducati'esqe design points (which as a Ducati guy I find very appealing). I particularly like the trick lower trellis tube arch. These days as Ducati move away from trellis frame bikes I'm very happy to see Indian deliver such a fine looking example. I've always said that North American brands need a niche to break into more performance oriented areas of motorcycling - and flat track racing has a great heritage that gives them plenty of advertising material for capable bikes.
That fucking blew my mind! That is some of the best riding I've seen in ages! How does one even learn to ride like that or to be able to control a slide out on a surface like that with that much speed? Where do I begin if I wanna ride like that? Also, does the type of bike matter?
Looking forward for more bikes adopting the 18" 19" wheel setup. Like a supermoto but with more offroad capability, without having wonkey wheel proportions in terms of aesthetics.
@@fivespeed3026 I go through rough roads all the time but they're just not rough enough to warrant the 21 inch front i currently have. An 18 - 19 set up would be perfect for me.

Amazing when it's warmed up but really not good when it's cold. It sounds like a bag of spanners being dropped off a roof. It's also prone to stalling when it is cold. This seems to be a known issue (although only known to me post-purchase) but has taken the shine off the experience a bit. A bit disappointed but hopefully the dealer can sort it out.

your honest review makes me subscribe your channel. Indian currently does the bike game done very well. The punchy machine offers low rev torque that a flat dirty track needs for a ride. This review has demonstrated this bike is designed for and how it gets the job done. Superb.
Power sliding in the wet and on gravel is fun... until you fall off. And you will fall off... Plus gravel blasting a £15,000 bike isn't the best way to treat it.... Personally, I'd fit road tyres. Which will make a great bike even better.
