Awesome video. I propagated a bunch of Texas sage... I made smaller pieces which worked out just fine. Anything in my yard that I trim or cut I propagate. With a huge amount of success. Saves money for sure. Mexican petunias, Australian racer, roses, guara, hot lips sage, baby rose, much more. See you next time love the information.
I started out with one tiny lil Mexican petunia and now I have so many plants. Love them. One day I was watering it and something kept hitting me. I swear I was going crazy thinking a bird or something was throwing something at me.. After several days of my confusion, I realized that it was the seeds popping when the water loosened the glue on the seeds. Amazing plant. I've had so much fun with it..
@@brandishoogy That's wild I had the same thing happen I thought I was being bombarded by bugs but much to my delight it was seeds. I harvested a bunch of the seeds that I'll plant in the next few days. Gotta love saving money on seeds. My hummers love the Mexican petunias.
My husband and I just started a few clippings we got from a Texas Sage bush, I'm VERY EXCITED to see how it does! It was so hot outside today but, we made this our "clipping "planting" day. Since it was cooler than past days we just went ahead and got them started, wasn't sure how to do it, then I came across your video, thanks it helped us!!
Newbie sage grower here. My mom got two plants when she found out she had breast cancer and skin cancer. Through that year of multiple surgeries, and health treatment, she received two Texas sage. I believe they are Silverados, but I'm not 100% sure. I planted them in the front yard without any knowledge of their species (First plants I've ever invested in). The plant that gets the most sunlight has blown up into a huge bush and the one that gets a little shade has grown big, but looks different. The one in the sun has a nice thick stalk and a bunch of surrounding smaller stalks giving it size and volume. The second has a bunch of smaller stalks, giving it size, but no big stalk and no volume. Any advice on what to do? BTW: Mom is cancer free and doing amazing!
Love these plants. I’m in SC and brought 2 back from El Paso. They have thrived for about 3 years now. If I propagate them, will the plantings survive a heated greenhouse over winter? The GH stays above 45-50 through the winter.
Great info! Thank you! I have a sprawling 7+ ft wide Texas sage that I want to shape/prune. Do you think I can take those pieces to propagate, or should I cut from a branch further down like you did? I'm in Southern California, zone 9A.
Will you transfer these cutting to bigger pots or into the ground this fall or in the spring? I have some plants I want to propagate and eventually plant in our yard but I wasn’t sure if I should wait until after winter. (I’m in the Houston area)
Yes. Blooms when rain comes. Lynn’s Legacy / Lowreys Legacy is a really good variety. Goes by both names. Lynn Lowrey discovered it. I grow them strictly for my beehives. They bloom when very few trees and shrubs are blooming in our Texas heat. That’s when my bees need food the most. I’m always searching for summer blooming trees and shrubs that can survive our heat and drought without extra care.

Absolutely!
It would seem that leaving a few leaves lets the cutting get some needed energy from the sun and therefore helps growth.

Would you throw away your soil if it was in a container with a diseased plant? Wouldn't the disease possibly spread through the soil?
I haven’t had such a situation, but if I did, I wouldn’t throw it in the trash. I would maybe throw it in my compost bin.
